Don't misunderstand me... I agree with you 100%. Let me rephrase: Any NBA coach would be able to win some games with this team, but Rivers has gotten the full potential out of his players, and kept the egos of several superstars in check while he did it.

;D I think if they amputated one of Tiger's legs at the knee he'd still find a way to go out and win 2 or 3 times a year.

Rivers... it doesn't take a good coach to win with that much talent on the floor, but it takes a great coach to keep that many superstars happy at the same time.

Tiger Woods had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Tuesday to repair cartilage damange, his second operation in five years on the same knee. He is expected to miss at least a month while he recovers. Missing Out Tiger Woods is expected to return from arthroscopic knee surgery in time to play the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines. The surgery was performed in Park City, Utah, by Thomas Rosenberg, who also operated on Woods' left knee in December 2002. Woods also had surgery in 1994 on his left knee to remove a benign tumor. Swing coach Hank Haney told the AP in phone interview he knew Woods' knee was bothering him, but was not aware of the surgery until Woods called him. "He's been having a lot of trouble," Haney said. "He doesn't talk about stuff like that. He doesn't want to use excuses, you know? I don't think it affected his play. It affected his practice a little bit. He hit 14 greens in regulation on Sunday. Hard to say it was the knee." Woods gave no indication his knee was bothering him the first three months of the season, when he won his first four tournaments to extend a winning streak that dated to September. "Tiger has been experiencing pain in his knee since the middle of last year, and when he had it looked at by his doctors, arthoscopic surgery was recommended," said Mark Steinberg, Woods' agent at IMG. "Tiger has played through the pain in the past, but knew it would be better for him to have the procedure done as early as possible." Steinberg said the surgery repaired cartilage damage. The 2002 surgery drained fluid from around the anterior cruciate ligament and removed a benign cyst. Woods won the Bridgestone Invitational and PGA Championship in consecutive weeks in August, the latter his 13th career major. After tying for second at the Deutsche Bank Championship to Phil Mickelson, he wound the final two events to capture the FedEx Cup, won his unofficial Target World Challenge in December, and won his first four events until tying for fifth at Doral last month. During the final two events of the PGA Tour season -- the BMW Championship in Chicago and the Tour Championship -- Woods occasionally would press his foot against a cooler on the tee box and stretch his knee. He also stumbled behind the eighth green at Southern Hills during the final round of the PGA Championship, right after he chipped in for birdie and was backing up to throw a fist pump. Otherwise, there were no other outward signs he was hurting. "He's been cautious with it working out," Haney said. "He just needed to go in there and clean it out." The recovery is expected to be four to six weeks, meaning Woods will not be able to defend his title May 1 in the Wachovia Championship. He likely will miss The Players Championship, one of three non-majors he has never missed since turning pro. "Of course, we're disappointed when Tiger is unable to compete in a PGA Tour event," commissioner Tim Finchem said on the tour's Web site. "There is really never a good time for an athlete -- especially one of Tiger's caliber -- to take weeks off from competition during the season. But his health concerns have to come first." Woods missed two months the last time he had surgery, but most of that was around the holiday and he only missed one tournament. This will be the second time in two years that he has sat out more than a month between the Masters and the U.S. Open. He missed nine weeks when his father died of cancer in 2006, returned to the U.S. Open at Winged Foot and missed the cut. Assuming the recovery goes as planned, Woods probably will return at the Memorial two weeks before the U.S. Open. Despite his runner-up finish at the Masters, he will be a heavy favorite at the second major. Woods has won six times at Torrey Pines, including the last three years. The last time Woods had knee surgery, he won three of his first four tournaments, starting with the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines. "This is something he's already used to," Haney said. "He deals with stuff incredibly, like you would expect him to."

Those are some impressive stats. I played against UT Tyler 3 or 4 times in college, and they usually have a good team.

another dumb decision by a star athlete. i agree with you on this one Dick. He certainly makes enough money to hire a driver (he also makes enough money to know better than to pull this stunt while they're fighting for a playoff spot). He should be suspended for a few games, at least. Will the nuggets have the backbone to do it with one game left and them being 1/2 game up on Golden State for the final playoff spot?

So is coaching. Coaches don't have the right to misuse their authority. In this case, however, I'll commend the coach, as it sounds like in the heat of the moment he may have overreacted, but after backing up and looking at things, he fixed it. I'm always impressed with a coach who is not too proud to fix a mistake.

12 games into the season and they're in last place in the AL west (again), but only by 2.5 games. If they can take 2 of 3 from the angels this week, they'll be in decent shape.

Hopefully the Astros are starting to come around. Their offense will be very good very soon. Pence is playing terribly right now. When he starts heating up, you're gonna have Bourn getting on base, and then Pence, Tejada, Berkman, and Lee driving him in. Towles is hitting pretty well also. Wandy and Backe have been pitching pretty solid so far this year, so if Oswalt can regain his dominance, you're looking hopefully at 3 or 4 solid starts out of every 5. The stros offense will also be good enough to win some games when the pitching is off. Valverde was pretty dominant last year, so if he can get comfortable in a stros uniform, we should be in pretty decent shape. They've won a couple in a row against a hot florida team, so maybe they're starting to find a groove.

If you're refering to fireballs keeper, he got double points for captain. he should've gotten 46x2... it's showing that he got 86x2. the difference between 92 points and 172 points is a little too big for us not to notice.

If this all there is to the story, then this is absolutely ridiculous. Even if they were playing in the game, and not just watching, the coach is overstepping his bounds here (IF this story is true). It is not a coach's right to control the legal extracurricular activities of his players at this level, regardless of what some might think. Don't get me wrong, had they been kicked off because they were caught at a party, or had committed a crime, or had done something of a similar nature, I would commend a coach for kicking them off the team. But for watching (or even playing) a ragball game? The only way I can see this as reasonable would be if they had skipped a game or practice to attend the ragball game. If a college coach (where the kids are getting scholarships to play), or a professional coach (where the players are getting paychecks) wants to institute rules about player activities, then I don't have a problem with it. Most high schoolers, however, will not play at the next level, and are playing for the love of the game. They perform to represent their school and community, while receiving nothing beyond encouragement in return. This is not enough of a reimbursement for coaches to expect their players to not have fun outside of the clubhouse during the season.

I don't see how he got 86 points. 20 for a clean sheet, 10 for a win, and 16 for making 8 saves. 46 is what i come up with. can someone help me out here? is there a glitch in their system somewhere? if so, they need to fix it, so i have a chance to catch up.
