  1. it comes on at 4:30 or 5:00 on Monday or Tuesday afternoon, too. I don't remember which, but i often watch it when laying down for my afternoon nap
  2. you catch anything? (besides snakes, of course)
  3. this was definitely an important divisional result after their slow start!
  4. I'll feel a little better about Dallas' performance if the spurs lose this series
  5. If this was the pregame interview, what could Ozzie Guillen possibly have said after the Chicago White Sox lost again Sunday? Guillen unleashed his verbal wrath before the White Sox faced the Blue Jays in Toronto, after having been asked a humorous question about a minor leaguer's recent performance and his chance at cracking the White Sox lineup. That apparently was all it took. Guillen's profanity-laden stream of consciousness touched on Cubs fans, White Sox fans, the media, Lee Elia, and himself. "Right now everyone in Chicago is making lineups -- 'Call up this guy, call up that guy.' ... If we had 50 people allowed on the roster, we could do that. That's what ticks me off about Chicago fans and Chicago media: They forget pretty quickly. A couple of days ago we were the [bleeping] best [stuff] in town. Now we're [bleep]," Guillen said to the aforementioned Chicago media before the game. Guillen observed that Chicago still loved the Cubs, even though they have not won a World Series since 1908, but the White Sox -- winners of the 2005 World Series -- did not receive the same affectionate support. "We won it a couple years ago, and we're horse[bleep]," Guillen said, according to the Chicago Tribune. "The Cubs haven't won in [100] years, and they're the [bleeping] best. [bleep] it, we're good. [bleep] everybody. We're horse[bleep], and we're going to be horse[bleep] the rest of our lives, no matter how many World Series we win. "We are the [bleep] of Chicago. We're the Chicago [bleep]. We have the worst owner [Jerry Reinsdorf]. The guy's got seven [bleeping] rings, and he's the [bleeping] horse[bleep] owner." Guillen brought up Elia, the former Cubs manager who blew his gasket over what he considered to be ungrateful, unforgiving and unsupportive Cubs fans in an infamous tirade that recently marked its 25th anniversary. "How about the Cubs celebrating that Lee Elia bull[bleep]? How many times do I curse people out? I will make a lot of money with my [stuff]. I have to keep going because in the future Ozzie will need money, and I can say, 'Here, give me money, here's the 10-year anniversary of my time I called [Jay] Mariotti stuff and the time I went on the radio and cursed out Mike North,' " Guillen said. The North incident Guillen referred to is from mid-May 2007, when Guillen called in to North's Chicago radio show and the two got into a spat (with Guillen providing most of the profanity). And in June 2006, Guillen lashed out at Mariotti -- a columnist with the Chicago Sun-Times and frequent contributor to ESPN's "Around the Horn" -- and referred to Mariotti using a homophobic slur. The White Sox had been in first place in their division from April 15 until Saturday night, but are on a five-game losing streak and now 1½ games behind the Minnesota Twins. "People are panicking," Guillen said. "Did we play a real bad week? Yes, we did, we stunk. But it wasn't too long ago that we were 'the biggest surprise in baseball, wow, look at the White Sox.' "
  6. What a game! 4OT win for the stars!!! Turco made 61 saves!
  7. it's not everyday that someone keeps playing into their 80's!
  8. Atlanta is on a 10-0 run with 4:44 in the 4th quarter of game six to lead by 7! Paul Pierce just fouled out, and got a technical to boot!
  9. back in '99 HJ beat Barbers Hill 3-0. That was an incredible game.
  10. i doubt either will ever be broken. the strikeout record is more vulnerable, but i don't see it happening. the bullpen plays a much more prominent role than it did throughout nolan's career. these days, strikeout pitchers don't get to go that deep into games, so nobody who has a chance of catching him will pitch enough innings in their career to do it, as they'll be pulled every time they hit 115-120 pitches.
  11. if a teacher drinks occasionally during the summer, are they going to have problems teaching in september? occasional marijuana use during the offseason is not going to effect how he's playing during the season. don't twist my words. now if he smokes pot every day during the offseason, gets the munchies all the time, gains 30 lbs, and subsequently lacks the ambition to go out and practice, then sure, smoking pot in the offseason will effect his playing ability. I'm not saying what he's doing is ok, I'm just saying that his comment about it not being a big deal FROM A BASKETBALL STANDPOINT is reasonable. actually wasn't even referring to your comments. my fault should have been more clear. I was referring to Howard's comments that it has no effect on him doing his job. Having no experience with marijauna, I was throwing a general question out there. oh, ok. cool ;D
  12. You are my hero... dangit. i could really use those 99 points, too.
  13. i agree. they are much better, because of all those 1st round picks finally developed they've drafted well, that's for sure
  14. Amen! Maybe Cuban can coach them next year and they can miss the playoffs all together.
  15. in all honestly, if you look past 2001 and 2002, Barry has never been that good. His last 4 seasons in oakland he went: 14-12 11-11 14-13 16-10 the giants then proceeded to pay him like he's the offspring of Johan Santana and Josh Beckett. He moves to a team that is going to score less runs and provide worse defense for him, and his record for his first season at San Fran is 11-13. I'd say anybody with half a baseball brain could've predicted his record based on his past 4 seasons combined with him moving to an inferior team. If you look at his numbers this year, he's hasn't been stellar, but his first four starts weren't completely awful. Here are the numbers for his first four starts... now granted, he got shelled in starts 5 and 6, but he started out decent, and i don't think anyone would go beyond calling him a decent pitcher. Start 1: 5.0 IP, 4 ER Start 2: 5.0 IP, 3 ER Start 3: 6.0 IP, 1 ER Start 4: 6.0 IP, 3 ER There's no reason that on a team with an actual offense that he couldn't have started out 2-2, or even 3-1. I think people's expectations are based on his salary instead of his skill set. I also think that the pressure of losing his first four games, which were all winnable, has probably gotten into his head. Maybe with some time in the bullpen he can get things straightened out, and maybe get a cheap win or two to gain his confidence back. I'm sure if he gets his mindset right, he can get back to being the .500 pitcher he was always destined to be.
  16. Fresh or saltwater or does it matter? either is fine... i don't really care. we go out to the rigs some, but with the price of gas, i'm going to have to cut WAAAAAY back on that
  17. it was an old dude trying to do the truffle shuffle. no way i give it back!
  18. smoltz was never this bad... i'm just surprised the rangers haven't traded 3 top prospects for him yet. he won't lose too many more games from the bullpen, as i doubt they're going to put him in during close games anytime soon.
  19. dude, i love daily! chain smoking and driving off of a diet dr. pepper can!!! you can't beat it. i'm just glad the PGA makes him wear a shirt during tournaments.
