  1. they stranded him, but still an EXCELLENT start for him, considering that the reds two major concerns about him were his plate discipline and his base running.
  2. he walked on four pitches in his first plate appearance, and stole second. he's there right now with one out in the bottom of the first.
  3. i hate to hear that. we'll certainly be thinking about you on here.
  4. I don't think it adds any time to the game... beeninnikes is right. if you can immediately correct it in the booth, you don't have five minutes of umpire/manager "discussion" over whether the call was right. This is an opportunity for the umps to get these calls right, as the replay will always be definitive. As long as they don't try to start replaying balls and strikes, or diving catches in the outfield, or bang bang plays at first, i think this will be good for the game.
  5. This is at least the 2nd time she's gotten in a wreck and gone and tried to fight someone. I'm all about equal opportunity for women, so does that mean that whenever SHE causes a wreck, whoever she wrecks with is perfectly in his rights to go find her after the race and knock her around a little bit? Seriously, she's eventually going to hit somebody who hits her back, and she'll be made out to be the victim and the person that pops her one is going to be villified in the media. Don't get me wrong, I'm in NO way against having women racers, but it's not really fair for the men on the circuit who have to put up with her tantrums without any retaliation. [Hidden Content]
  6. if they can keep this core in place, i don't see them getting anything but better, at least for the next couple of years (eventually the boston 3 party is going to turn into the boston "can't control their pee" party).
  7. i bet you if you go on www.espn360.com you can find it. you can get on there and watch pretty much anything that's come on any of the espn's recently.
  8. The US was steamrolled in the first half... they were 4 v 7 every time they got into the offensive half, and they were basically a practice squad for Turkey to run counter attack drills against. it did get A LITTLE better in the 2nd half.
  9. The US looked TERRIBLE in the 1st half against Turkey, but at least they fought back to make it interesting. Without their brainfart in the 2nd half to allow Turkey to score about 10 seconds after the US had just scored, this could've been a tie game.
  10. Kobe only has 2 and the spurs are only up 8? they might be in trouble if he drops about 30 in the 2nd half.
  11. it's a shame... can't have your son beaten by a girl. if she's that good, it will do nothing but make her opponents better from having played her. this is pretty ridiculous.
  12. if he can provide 5-10 minutes off the bench a game, and a good defensive presence in practice, he'll be worth the money. that's a pretty insignificant amount of cash for a pro franchise anyway.
  13. This is the lakers' year. Spurs lose in 6, then go home to do gardening and read in book clubs and play cribbage. (and other "exciting" things)
  14. an amazing career for a guy taken in the 62nd round as a favor for a family friend!
  15. I "waste" my time for a third of that, and I live pretty comfortably. I don't know what your career plans are, but if you make 120K a year, you're doing alright.
  16. pitch count is overrated. it wasn't too long ago that pitchers were expected to go 9 innings most of the time. what a story in lester! comes back from cancer and throws a no hitter!!! jw.. have you ever thrown 100 pitches? let alone 140? lol its not too fun if i was i was paid millions of dollars a year, i think i could put up with it once every five days or so. I'm not saying that it won't wear the pitcher out, but it's not like they don't get plenty of time to recover. pitchers are babied these days. regardless, lester is a fantastic story.
  17. he's gonna be blocking mad shots if they let him use his walker to swat shots away. 120K isn't much for a pro ball player, but at least he has the endorsements from centrum silver and depends adult undergarments.
