How many career wins will Roy Oswalt end up with?
bullets13 replied to bobcatfan's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
if he's only giving 3.5 more years, i don't see it happening. he'll probably average `12-15 wins a year over that period. as he gets older, his slow starts will probably last longer. he'll also be more prone to injury. -
How many career HR's will Lance Berkman end up with?
bullets13 replied to bobcatfan's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
i say he ends the year with 320. he's closing in on the downside of his career, but i could see him averaging 20-25 HR over the next five years if he plays that long. i say he'll either end up +/- 20 from 415 HR's -
the first player to score 30 points for him in a game will be a phenom
-
i doubly jinxed him! he's given up three straight singles and lost his scoreless inning streak as well! man, i knew better ;D
-
and of course i did... he gave up a hit in his very next batter faced

i'm a family friend and yes there are a lot of unanswered questions well, i hope they get all the resolution that i'm sure they're seeking right now. i'm sure finding him, as difficult as it has to be, will go a long way. -
Tim Lincecum is no-hitting the Padres through six tonight. he's also extended his scoreless inning streak to a whopping 29 innings and change! man, i hope i didn't jinx him!!!

can you imagine trying to tag one? that would be tough! -
again, i'm not trying to hate on him. i just think Dickie is overrating him. he was a great player, but seeing as all of SETX basketball is so weak with the exception of the great and mighty Ozen, he inflated his numbers his whole career against weak, physically inferior competition. he was coveted much more for his size than his skill. sure, he could play, but just because he had some skill while a couple of other big guys from the houston area tripped over their own feet everytime they walked does not make him a phenom. also, lumping him into the same categorie as lebron james ruins your credibility on this one a bit, dickie, as does your obvious (and completely understandable) predjudice when it comes to kendrick. lebron was a phenom. he was drafted 26 spots ahead of kendrick, and was an instant all-star, averaging 21 pts/6 rebs/ 5 assists as a 19-year-old in his first full season. now THAT's a phenom. perkins went for 2.2 pts and 1.4 rebs in only 10 games his rookie season. while i like what perkins does for the celtics, and would love to have him play for my favorite team, he's never been a phenom. his career year last year (in his 6th season as a pro) of 8.5 pts, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks a game is far from phenomenal.

because he was enormous. it wasn't because he was an incredible basketball player. he wouldn't have been so much as a blip on that radar had he been 6'6''. i'm not saying he's not talented, and i'm not saying his numbers weren't impressive. what i am saying is that if i was 6-10 and a jr/sr in high school, was probably 5 inches taller and 50 lbs heavier than 9 out of 10 centers that i played against, it would be difficult NOT to average 25 pts and 16 rebounds a game. Again, i'm not trying to disrespect perk at all, he was a great HS player, and he's worked himself into being a serviceable pro, but phenom does not at all come to mind. to me phenom has much more to do with talent than with being a spectacularly large physical specimen.
-
with all due respect, Perkins wasn't a phenom. he was simply... tall and thick.

The Dallas Mavericks and Toronto Raptors, living up to the wild tenor of the past few weeks in the NBA, have hatched a complicated sign-and-trade arrangement that went through numerous constructions Wednesday before resulting in an agreement in principle that will send Shawn Marion to Dallas and also absorb the Raptors' much-anticipated signing of Hedo Turkoglu. Sources close to the negotiations told ESPN.com on Wednesday night a trade call has been scheduled with the league office for Thursday, indicating all sides have agreed to the terms of a transaction that, in its final form, will also involve the Memphis Grizzlies and the Orlando Magic. I notice that when you quoted the statement and compared BO to Frederick Douglass, you left off the part about "a nice-looking guy". he was "distinguished"... ;D

The Rangers took 2 of 3 from the Halos IN cali, so they have now regained 1st place after trailing the Angels for a couple of weeks!

Well we were putting a few, a very few of Bidens to counter Palins. Ok Lord knows I've misspoke and I've also sat dumbfounded with a brainfart at times. i know i have as well. it generally happens when i don't know a lot about the subject i'm talking about... i will say this: it seems that the quotes being brought up by biden mostly hinge on insensitivity. most of palin's hinge on ignorance (not stupidity). i can live with insensitive politicians, especially if they're likely just making a bad joke. an ignorant politician is a different matter, and i'm glad that we don't have a vice president who's having to learn the basics as she helps run the country. Really, you came awful close to having Hillary. i can honestly say i would've voted McCain and not thought twice about it.

i'm not arrogant. i'm just having a good time. i just figured since we were listing "dumb quotes", or "misspeaks", or whatever you want to label them, i'd put a few of palin's on here to counter biden's.
