the rangers are HOT right now! They've won 7 of 8, including a sweep of the Bosox. they've also taken the first two in a series against detroit, who absolutely destroyed them earlier in the year. the angels have also been on fire, so it's a good thing the rangers are playing so well or they'd be 6 or 7 games back right now.

The US folded like a lawnchair. i felt like we certainly had the better of the play in the 1st half, but after that super-cheap PK goal we just gave up. I can't think of a single US player who had a decent 2nd half except for maybe Troy Perkins, and seeing as he gave up 5 second half goals, that will tell you just how badly our defense played. I know that Bradley's trying to get some players some experience, but i would've liked to see him bring in a few quality players for the finals, especially considering that it was a FINAL versus MEXICO. 5-0 is pretty embarrassing scoreline, but i do take some consolation in the fact that this was arguably Mexico's B+ team versus our C- team. I don't know that any of the players in this game for our side will even see the field when we play Mexico in WC qualifying in a few weeks (at the most 1 or 2). At least we still have the old "2-0" to fall back on when our Mexican friends talk trash tomorrow.

look what the guy doing for american soccer? how many people have started watching mls since he came here? a whole lot. you might not like him personally, but he is doing great things for soccer growth in the u.s. I couldn't disagree with you more. Soccer in America will never be a mainstream sport. Just not gonna happen. David Beckham is not the savior of American Soccer. He is an arrogant selfish nonteam player. I don't want my children looking up to the likes of him. I hope he moves on soon. i think soccer will get there eventually. look at how far it's come in the last couple of generations. NOBODY played soccer 30 years ago. now leagues are full all over the country. as this generation of players grows up, their kids will play, and we'll see more and more interest in the sport. it's not going to happen overnight, but it's definitely growing, even if it's not doing so particularly quickly.

what? he missed his fifth cut in his entire professional career? he MUST not be that good. of course, jack missed 88, but i'm sure a lot of those were when he was getting old. In majors only, Jack missed 33 cuts, most of them (22) in the '90s and '00s....so you are right. Why so defensive? 59 year old Watson playing like he is 30.......putting for eagles!!!! Gotta love it!!! not defensive at all... i just figure that the cuts-made stat is a pretty telling statistic for a pro golfer. AAW was trying to use the fifth missed cut of Tiger's career to talk a little smack. i figured if Tiger's fifth missed cut was cause for a little more "Jack's the greatest smack talk", i'd at least bring up the 88 that Jack missed. I will also bring up the fact that by the 90's Jack was playing almost exclusively in majors, so although he missed many cuts in his later years, there must have been several when he was younger as well.

what's funny is that 9 times out of 10, even when he's way back at the end of the 1st round, even if he's way back going to the weekend, by the end of the tournament he still seems a way to find himself in the top 5.
