great tournament... Tiger is clearly the best in the world. He putts poorly, is something like 14 back at one point in the second round, and finishes the tourney in the top-10. i bet he'd give himself a C- for his tourney, and he made the top-10. most players C- game would've sent them packing after round two. If Tiger had been in the afternoon flight for the first two rounds, he would've probably cakewalked to a victory. still, he had his chances and missed on some of them. Aside from all the tiger talk, great win for Glover, and a fantastic tournament for Duval. He wasn't kiidding about finding his swing!

that could be because your average joe in the usa has some experience with basketball and played a little when younger while the same guy probably never played or thought about playing soccer...if you go give a bunch of brazilian kids a basketball they are gonna drop it on the ground and kick it around....the brazilian average joe would prolly be much better off kicking it around than shooting hoops...just a thought...some of the differences is culture driven...soccer is definitely a difficult sport to master, but i'd argue that the basics of it are just as basic as football or basketball, but if you live in a culture that only plays football and basketball you are a lot better with your hands than your feet while if you live in a country that plays soccer your a lot better with your feet than your hands...you have to develop that coordination either way, it doesnt jsut happen... a good point, but most people use their feet for walking and running, and little else. every day people use their hands to do hundreds of different skills, so when you take a basketball or a football and put it in their hands, they'll have some sort of muscle memory that will help them. when it comes to soccer, the skill set is completely foreign to someone who's never played soccer. give me a 10 year old who's never played soccer OR basketball, and i'll give you a child that begins to succeed in basketball MUCH quicker than in soccer.

i'm loving this... there's not really any pressure on us longhorn fans for once. at least on this site, everyone expects LSU to win, and all of the trash talk has come from LSU fans. If UT wins, we get to talk as much as we want, but if LSU wins, we won't have to eat any crow. it's a nice place to be in. -
you gotta feel bad for the guys who got screwed by being in the morning flight for the first two rounds (tiger included). the conditions were infiinitely easier for those in the afternoon flight, as represented by the fact that only one player from the morning flight was in the top 10 after the second round.

normally i wouldn't take much pride in the fact that we advanced with a 1-2 record, but i honestly believe had we not been hosed by a weak red card against italy, we would've at least gotten a draw, if not a win, and goal differential would not have mattered. -

they played great! i thought bradley's goal should've been called back because dempsey was offsides and shielded the keeper, but it made up for the the ball that Egypt cleared off the line with an arm a few minutes earlier. -
PHILADELPHIA -- Ryan Howard's consecutive games streak appears likely to end after the Phillies slugger was hospitalized for the second time in two nights with flu symptoms. Howard was at the hospital Sunday and not expected to play against the Baltimore Orioles. The 2006 National League MVP has played 343 straight games since May 25, 2007, the longest active streak in the majors. Howard also went to the hospital after Friday's game. He was not expected to play Saturday, but returned to hit a pinch-hit, three-run home run. Matt Stairs replaced Howard in the cleanup spot and Greg Dobbs filled in at first base

i try my best to avoid agreeing with Dickie too often, but i find it pretty difficult to argue with him on this one. ;D

Garcia is a Spaniard and Ogilvy is Austrailan I think. Go Americans? Tiger is a 4-1 favorite and Phil is 6-1. David Duval is 500-1 No Kidding!!!!!!!!!! I know where they are from. I feel that they will compete and possibly win, but ultimately I am pulling for an American!!!!!!!!! Duh!!!!!! I know more about golf that any other member on this forum.............do NOT question my golf intellect!!!!! ;D ;D ;D Please accept my humble apology. I will try to refrain from offending the SETX golf guru. Meanwhile, while Lefty is normally not my favorite, I'm pulling for him this time. He needs a break, and besides, his wife wants the trophy! My wife would want the check and for me to put "my" trophy in the garage. Go Phil! Oh yeah, I'm gonna also pull for David Duval. He's been playing like me for a couple of years. He says hes got his swing back. We'll see... he's definitely in the hunt!

The rangers are struggling right now. their lead is down to a half game, and they lost a game tonight in the 11th on a wild pitch.

Hook em! i'd say this is an even money bet at this point. power ball vs. small ball, but each team is good enough to play the other team's game if they need to. i would say that LSU's power trumps UT's small ball, but UT's pitching can MORE than even that out. It should be a great series! -
we're being sarcastic because there were a few people talking crap on how lucky the horns are, how they're overrated, and how boring their "small ball" mentality is.
-
clearly Texas is very lucky. their 3-0 record in Omaha shows that (as well as the fact that they were good enough to make it there to begin with)
-
man, it's crazy how lucky they keep getting... they're overrated! ;D ;D ;D on a sidenote, that was one of the longest walk-off bunts i've ever seen
-
Shawn Bradley? I've never seen a list of great players include Shawn Bradley. really? i thought his role in "Space Jam" pretty much solidified him as one of the game's greats.
-
i sure hope so!
-
the leader is at -2, tiger is at +1, and is tied for 8th. i love watching golf tournaments where they really have to struggle just to shoot 70!
-
i taped this, and was going to wait to see the score when i got home to watch it, but i accidently saw it on espn.com, and i'm glad i didn't waste 90 minutes of my life on it.

Mud on the ball. > That's one of the few things I hate while playing. yeah, i usually just end up with rough on mine.
-
at least he's in the AL. if it comes down to the last month of the season, and he still has a shot, maybe he'll get some games at DH to keep him fresh.
-
rangers win in 10 against the 'stros! i wish we could get a series against them every time we started to struggle! the rangers are 5-0 against the 'stros this season.

yup. can you imagine ryan howard on steroids? he might hit 100! -
two advantages mauer has over chipper... he's only 26, and he has much better hitters around him, so he'll see better pitches. i agree, though, it's highly unlikely, although 4-4 last night and 7 of his last 9 will certainly help.
