CARL ABSECK NAMED NEW AD/HFC AT BARBERS HILL
bullets13 replied to RidinTheRange's topic in High School Football
We'll see. I'm still considering their job offer. Two expired movie tickets and a handwritten voucher for one free massage from @AggiesAreWe. IF, and it's a big IF, I turn it down, then they might hire one of these fancy coaches from out of town. -
she said it was an accident, and people are trying to crucify him. Which she's probably not wrong there. But obviously nobody wants to own up to any part of it. It's the way things work now.

I found some facebook drama from the wife of the guy who ran over the kid basically claiming that the kid's mom was drunk and not watching him. For whatever that's worth.
-
To me it feels like she's looking for someone to sue, and my guess is the city of Beaumont or BPD for those deep pockets. But to me, even if the guy was in the grass, there were signs saying no ATVs. It would be like someone suing the city because their kid died in a car accident where they got hit by someone going 70 in a 50. It's not the city's fault they broke the law. But yeah, it's really feeling like she's looking for $$, especially bringing in QX.

kinda my take on this as well. In both of those situations the parent should shoulder some blame. I saw a post on facebook that said the driver was high on crack cocaine, and also that he'd been asked to quit riding multiple times. Now, who knows if any of that is accurate. But if he'd been riding around for awhile, especially dangerously, there's no way my kids would have the opportunity to be run over.

dang, that one hurts. their all-world player and about half their team will graduate this year, so that's probably it for awhile.

Exciting News coming from Lamar Basketball !!

i think it's bronny james. -
it's a black guy. The news hasn't reported his identity, but I've seen it a few places on facebook. I assumed it was a black guy as well, as that neighborhood is almost entirely minority, and you see a lot of guys riding around on atvs.

I don't think many people think they're similar. That said, if you bring in an "elite" Metroplex coach, isn't it reasonable to expect him to take his SETX talent and be one of the top SETX teams? You have to go a LONG way in the playoffs to run into those metroplex programs you're talking about. -
I've heard too many stories about him demanding exorbitant fees from families in need before he would come speak for them and bring attention to their cause. When you hear stories of him wanting $10K to "help" someone, it kinda makes you question his motives.
-
I'm also curious to see how the family proceeds with the lawsuit that they're undoubtedly planning. Quannell X wouldn't be in town if he didn't smell money. The child was hit and killed by a black man who likely doesn't have any money, so it's not about race. I'm curious to see who's big pockets the lawsuit goes after. I'm assuming the city of Beaumont and maybe BPD, because it's totally their fault that this guy ignored the signs and broke the law.
-
I'm kind of curious about this one from a legal view. The driver of the ATV that hit and killed a little boy in Terrell Park is in jail on warrants, but not charged with a crime in this yet. People are screaming for justice, but BPD is taking their time with interviews, and I'm assuming bloodwork, before filing any charges in the accident. I have a feeling that depending on the circumstances, people aren't going to be happy with "justice" if it's determined that the ATV rider was sober and that he was driving responsibly and the kid caused the accident by running in front of him. There are "No ATV" signs in the park, but this could still add up to be basically just a tragic traffic accident.

The most important this is that it's a long weekend, right? (Sarcasm, just in case that wasn't clear) -

Just spent 30 minutes reading this thread. I don't have any connection to BH (other than Don Price's son being a good buddy in college), and don't care if they win or lose, but found this topic interesting. Yall keep me updated -
Personally I wouldn't have had any problem either instance with them being shot. I guess I'm different than some, but I would expect capitol police to have a lower threshold for lethal force when people are actively rioting and trying to enter chambers where politicians are located (although I understand they've yet to release their use of force policy). I would expect for capitol police to shoot if BLM activists were trying to breach a room where Trump was located. But who knows. I don't disagree with anyone that there's a double standard in these instances. But that said, just because there would've been outrage if roles and races were different doesn't mean that I have an issue with this lady getting shot. I thought officers showed a lot of restraint overall. Someone getting shot is a pretty predictable outcome when an angry mob breaches the capital, breaks out windows and tries to enter chambers where sitting members of the house and senate are being protected by capitol police.

I don't think many of them actually believed it. People let plenty slide when it's "their guy." -

He denied it long enough to get into office, and now will face no repercussions. -
Sure, it should be legal, but there are very few if, any, areas of law were there aren't "ifs and buts".

You're not getting me, you're getting the law.
