  1. You post a lot of stuff I agree with on here, but this might be the most ignorant post you’ve ever made.
  2. Because the other stuff is a personal choice between adults that doesn’t infringe on other people’s rights. It’s kinda ridiculous that you keep grouping homosexuals and transsexuals with child rapists.
  3. Kinda doubt it. They’d probably wear it as a badge of wokeness.
  4. I went through the math with Realville. 8000 people die a day in the US. At its peak, the US was vaccinating 2M+ people a day. I’m not saying that none of those 5,000 reported deaths were do to the vaccine, but simple statistics shows that many (likely most) would be coincidental overlap, especially considering the amount of elderly and folks with preexisting conditions who were vaccinated.
  5. I don’t think anyone on this site will argue the fact that I’m one of the more progressive folks on this forum. That said, this is absurd. I don’t care if a grown man wants to become a woman, and I don’t care what they do or do not do to their body to become one. I don’t care if they get married, or who they marry (as long as it’s a consenting adult and not a child or a platypus or something). When they get married they should be able to get insurance for their spouse. But I draw the line at allowing transgender women to compete against biological women. Allowing a tiny fraction of a percent of the population step on the rights of half the population for the sake of “fairness” is inherently unfair. This dude (lady) was a mediocre male powerlifter before he changed to a she. Now she’s shattering world records. Activists claim there’s no unfair advantage. The numbers show otherwise. There are several examples out there of mediocre male athletes transitioning to women and then dominating competitions, and often setting new records. Surely that’s obvious proof that there’s an advantage? If we want to include transgenders in the Olympics, have a transgender competition. If not, keep them out.
  6. Interesting place. My college roommate lives there, and it’s this weird mix of an old country town combined with urban sprawl. I hope houston never makes it here the way that Dallas has crept up on them there.
  7. Horns down 2-0 with 2 after 7. Out of their 21 recorded outs they’ve managed to strikeout 18 times. I don’t even know how this is possible.
  8. Not sure that he’s the one that’s going to push them over the top. 5.7 pts and 3.3 assists a game with plenty of playing time last season at McNeese. And next year will be much tougher competition if he does make the move.
  9. It’s cool seeing Dallas do so well. He’s not the pitcher i would’ve predicted to be here from that district during that time frame, but then again, I don’t follow baseball that closely.
  10. I think I read somewhere that they’re replacing the dividers between east and westbound in an effort to alleviate flooding. Not sure if that’s today?
  11. I’d like to see the comments. I tend to agree with you that if the complaints are valid (safe to assume they are since he has in fact resigned) that he should just resign now. The only exception being if they absolutely need someone in his position for things to run, and also need some time to find his replacement.
  12. No, but it’s substantial. $1000 for all employees and a retention stipend of 4% up to $2700. I’m a little grouchy they waited until I left.
  13. Yup. my wife, the lady she replaced, and the lady that replaced my wife all work in the same district now, and it isn’t BISD.
  14. See my above post about the diags. But yes, pay is far from the only issue.
  15. To a degree. They’ve done okay giving raises to teachers over the years. Next year I would’ve made close to $10k more with my experience than teachers did when I was hired on 15 years ago. They’re also offering some substantial stipends this year. It still won’t be enough to stem the tide of employees leaving, although it should slow it down some.
  16. Yup. Turnover is normal, but BISD has an unprecedented number of openings. Back when I started BISD paid better than everyone else, but a lot of the local districts have caught up or gotten close, and that was about the only advantage BISD had over them.
  17. The raises they’re giving to most of the workers are fairly small, but welcomed and necessary. One part in there is important, though, and that’s where they’re looking at equity adjustments for diagnosticians. That job is monumentally important, and for some reason BISD hasn’t been even close to competitive with their pay in that position, while overworking those employees. A diagnostician is in charge of all testing, paperwork, ARD meetings and more for all special education students at their campus. They’re also in charge of keeping the district in compliance with the state, and from getting sued by angry parents. My wife was a diag at BISD for one year. She was responsible for three schools, and also had to do all of the speech paperwork (absolutely not in her job description) at two of those campuses because they didn’t have full-time speech pathologists. She was also in charge of the early childhood intake for the entire district, meaning she was responsible for the testing of any special needs child coming into any pre-k in the district to see if they qualified. She would work all day, have to drive around town to different campuses, then come home and work a few more hours almost every night. After that year she was hired in the same position at a much smaller district. One campus, no additional unpaid work roles, and a substantial raise. Her workload was legitimately cut by 2/3, and she’s better paid. BISD has to solve that problem. Paying the position competitively is a big start.
  18. I listen to some true crime podcasts. Casefile did a very good 5 part series on the golden state killer. It was pretty cool listening to it, then the case being solved a year later.
  19. Agreed. I’ve seen some talk about ethics and rights, but I don’t care how they get rapists and murderers off the streets.
  20. NHC showing 80% currently
  21. Yup. People are catching specks right now, but mostly offshore
  22. Looks like the system in the gulf has about a 90% chance of developing. Hopefully it doesn’t affect us too much. I wouldn’t mind a little storm surge to push some salt water back up into the lake.
  23. This is my view. Stall ball is terrible to watch, but I guess it’ll continue for now.
