Buddy coaches at Huffman. They lost a ton of starters last year, and had 3 of their seniors go out for the season before it ever started. They've also played a very tough schedule. They seem to be turning the corner, tying EC the other day, which is a fantastic result.

Even their super liberal mayor criticized them: “The voters of this City have delivered a clear message that the School Board must focus on the essentials of delivering a well-run school system above all else,” said Mayor London Breed, a fellow Democrat, in a statement on Tuesday night. “It’s time we refocus our efforts on the basics of providing quality education for all students, while more broadly improving how this city delivers support for children and families.” Breed, one of the most liberal mayors in one of the most liberal cities in America, had previously criticized the board for prioritizing “political agendas” over the actual intended functions of the board.

From the article: Parents in the city accused the board or prioritizing “woke” politics and “social justice” issues – such as altering murals and, rather famously, working tirelessly to rename schools named after figures including George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and even Diane Feinstein – instead of focusing on getting children back to school and protecting their education.

You guys know I'm pretty moderate, but lean right in most areas. That said, I don't hate the left, but some of the nonsense that's come from that direction the last several years is terrifying to me. In this article you can read about the residents of San Francisco (arguably the most liberal city in the country) recalling three ultra-liberal school board members and removing them from the board. It seems that the far-left in San Francisco care more about their children getting a good education than catering to the insane, ultra-work agenda of the furthest left. It restores my hopes in humanity a bit. ‘It’s a Bloodbath’: Deep Blue San Francisco Overwhelmingly Votes to Recall Far-Left School Board Members (msn.com)

Sounds like they should’ve done that campfire formation. -
I don’t really ever put any stock in maxpreps. They use a computer formula that clearly doesn’t work.

yes, last week I think. There was a thread about it in HS football. He'd been active on here as recently as 2 weeks or so ago.

I also think HJ should be #1 over Argyle, despite their undefeated record. HJ with respectable losses to 6A #2 Summer Creek, 6A #6 Duncanville, and 6A Plano who are 25-9 out of the toughest basketball area in the state. HJ has wins over 6A #10 Austin, 6A #7 Cedar Hill, 6A #13 Houston Memorial , and 6A #23 SA Wagner. They have a win against 5A #20 Red Oak. They won in tournaments against #13 (all classifications) Lovejoy out of Georgia, and the #1 team (all classifications) from Colorado, Valor Christian. HJ's non-district schedule consisted of 21 games: 13 6A opponents, 6 of whom who are ranked, 2 5A schools, one ranked, and 3 4A schools, plus two highly ranked teams from out of state. 19 of 21 of those teams have winning records, and 20 of 21 made the playoffs. There is one tournament game where the opponent is not listed, but I would love to know who it was, because it's one HJ's few losses on the season. Argyle has wins against 3A #15 Gunter, 4A #8 Kennedale, 4A #9 Levelland, 6A #15 FW Boswell, 5A #8 Georgetown, which is pretty impressive, but their schedule has been MUCH easier than the Hawks, playing in a 3A tourney and a 4A tourney, where as the hawks played in 6A and national tourneys only.

Still crazy to me that Fairfield went to the 4A final 2 years ago and then got to drop a classification. They should be #1 over Canadian, who's entire schedule seems to have been against 1A and 2A teams, albeit good ones.

I like a lot of music. My middle and high school years I was heavy into alt rock and grunge. College and mid-20s i was big into emo, which most people on here haven't heard of, but know some of the bands most likely. These days I still listen to all of those styles, but I enjoy old country and classic rock as well. I can listen to just about anything except for rap, modern country (outlaw country is okay), and some pop.

pretty decent performance. it came 15 years too late. let these guys do it in their prime, and at the height of their popularity and it would've been a lot better. this isn't really my cup of tea, but what a collection of hip hop legends on the stage at one time.

50+. If they were mad at you then maybe 100. The gulf in talent between this team and all but about 2 4A schools in the state is incredible.
-
yeah, when I mentioned Charlize Theron earlier in the thread I was talking about from Monster.
-
gotcha. he sure seemed in a hurry to get out of Cuero. Not often you see coaches making lateral/downward moves after improving a team from 5-6 to a 13-2 state semifinalist, but he seemed willing to do so this offseason. I guess he found a school willing to accept his demands, and maybe that's the only motivation, I don't know. He's certainly a proven winner, but also a proven ship jumper. I wonder if he'll stay longer at Marshall than he did at CC and Cuero.
-
which marshall? FB, or east texas, or some other marshall I don't know about?
-
Sammy Owens, aka Skipper, aka powerlifter
-
Kathy Bates from Misery, right?
-
different generation, but i always had a thing for charlize theron and scarlett johanssen growing up. jessica biel and tiffany amber thieesen were two more.
-
one was iffy, the other two were cut and dry. not to mention the 75 yd touchdown pass to start the half that absolutely should've been called back for offensive PI but wasnt.

I was talking about winning 5 of their last 7, with one of those losses being the buzzer beater from Huffman. They also played really well for half the game against HJ. But yeah, it could be a trap game. I think they’ll take care of business. -
