Another problem in the equation of creating success ………. Self reflection and personal critique of one s own ability. Being honest with one self is becoming less and less especially in sports and really just general.
warren for an example. They re not good that’s easy to see.  When your record is what it is and your getting blown out in most those losses then yeah your not good.  A student of the game will see their personal weaknesses in skills and try to improve on them year around….and a majority of that is done during non basketball season…..and it’s even easier now days with the ability to have instant knowledge at your fingertips to help improve but they d rather be in that waste of time social media mess.
Team ball should take up the majority of in season practice…..

so self discipline comes into play now and that’s lacking as well in general.

How many juniors Sophs freshman etc etc are gonna self reflect (in season as well) after year is over and do what I mentioned above.  I don’t know the kids personally but I see some with potential and some that show in season effort and heart…… but how many truly are gonna put personal work in. It’s fine and dandy if your playing for the fun of it, but don’t expect much in return. And parents be honest ….at least with yourself about your own kids abilities. And don’t use the warren measuring stick.

our problem has been and will remain to be that our numbers are on the lower end of the classification we've played in for a few decades and we aren't as athletic as some of the other teams in our district and at the end of the day, speed kills.

That may be the case in football but not so much in basketball. Hours in the gym cure a lot weaknesses. It starts at a young age and continues through high school. I know for years the kids and parents went all over SE Texas and competed every week against a lot bigger clubs. They didn’t win all those games but it sure made them better. Warren has some pieces, especially with size. They could have been decent.

He wasn’t ever a D1 player according to some of the geniuses on here (well, one in particular).  Only took him half of a freshman season to dispel that notion…

The young man has had a better freshman year from an individual standpoint than I thought he would. That being said I’ve watched many many Lamar games over the years from McDonald gym to the civic center and finally the Montagne center. In that time frame I’ve seen a lot of players suit up that weren’t D1 players. I haven’t been in the season ticket seats the last few years because they have been hard to watch at times. I think they have the right man on the bench now but he’ll have to recruit some “D1” players to be successful. I think they are currently 2-20. Never been called a genius before but I have watched a game or two.

Not a parent’s priority….which is fine but don’t complain later (years)when your kid is in hs and the team is averaging 20 something points a game.

It has to start at the youth age and parents have to teach there kids proper mechanics and skills…..most parents don’t know these.

also don’t tell your kid to get his….team will never win with that mentality

Actually, if Huffman beats HF, I can see a three way tie for 2-4 with HH, HF and Livingston, assuming Huffman beats Livingston as well. Each team would likely finish 8-4 and 1-1 against each other.

I believe the three teams would have seed games to determine 2-4. I don't believe neither team would concede or flip. Pretty sure neither team wants the 4th seed.

I didn’t look to see where Huffman and Livingston would play. I think the home team will definitely have the advantage in that one.

25 games into the season they still are not playing up to their capabilities and they have two kids with terrible attitudes and are extremely selfish.  I think the coach is finally seeing that he has to sit those kids down.  Like I’ve said before he’s a good guy and a I think he is at the end of his patients with those kids.  If he does sit those kids down I think they can go further in the playoffs than everyone expects.  Cardinal 1s son should be leading this team and not have to fight for the ball.  He had a great game the other night because the coach sat those kids down finally and let the kids who have no problem with him getting his points and don’t mind sharing the ball, up until that point they were struggling and could have very easily lost the game to an inferior team. As I said we will see Tuesday night, if he does make a change then they can win out if he keeps doing more of the same then they will end up in 3 rd or 4th just like the last two years and be out the first round.

I don’t know anything about the internal conflicts on the HF club. I do know that by the 25th game of the season EVERY coach in SE Texas knows the chemistry of his team. If a coach is still making moves this time of year it’s because he’s not pleased with the players on the floor. I wouldn’t read much into stats against a 1-7 club. HF should beat Livingston at home, the matchups favor them ( unless Livingston gets hot from behind the arc). Their challenge will be against a Huffman club that took them to OT at Hamshire. If everyone plays up their potential HF and Livingston could very well be playing a seeding game. The players everyone wants benched seem to be good scoring options when #5 is shut down.

The chemistry of the last group on the floor the other night hopefully showed the coach who should be playing.  29 points in the fourth Quarter in a game that was sloppy and close until the right group of kids were on the court.  We will see if he finally figured it out on Tuesday.

I don’t mean to question your logic but we’re 25 games into the season I don’t think they’ll be many new discoveries at this point. I think Liberty is 1-7 in district playHF should destroy them
