If it was actually a chicken killer, i have zero problem with putting down.  if she's lying to make what she did more acceptable, that's a different issue.  If it actually was a chicken killer, then she's a moron for putting it in her book.  If it wasn't, she's a bad person for shooting the dog.  She could've easily given away the dog, but based on her writings she REAALLLLY didn't like the dog.  That said, I kinda doubt that 20 years ago she was thinking about her actions preventing her from receiving the VP nom.

Like I said, I don't really care, but I'm still trying to figure out why someone wouldn't just give the freaking dog away... If it's dangerous, bit a kid, has injuries and needs to be put down, terminally ill, etc, shoot it (or put it to sleep if you want). If it likes the taste of chicken - give it away. WHY NOT???

There is a proven way to stop a dog from killing chickens…..without shooting them, if it is only killing them….now if it is eating them then different story….only a bullet will stop that habit.

Understood. I'm just saying, give the dog away to someone who doesn't have chickens. Lol. It seems pretty self-evident.

This is a stupid question. If you think that every Muslim is like this then you are insane

Ma'am, I don't think he said all Muslims were like that. If I'm reading this right, he's referencing the terrorist Muslims. You know, the ones who commit murder & have no regard for anyone who doesn't follow their jihadist beliefs...

It seems from what I have read, that Baton Rouge, LA has been split almost in half, with a new city called St. George being incorporated.

I think that St. George is an area of the city much like South Park is in Beaumont or Port Acres in Port Arthur.

Apparently people living in the St. George area of the city wanted a new school district because of how bad the Baton Rouge school district was. When denied, they organized and voted to form their own city. After the vote passed to incorporate, Baton Rouge fought it in the courts which ended last week with the Louisiana Supreme Court ruling in favor of St. George.

At least the way I read it, Baton Rouge just lost about 85,000 people (almost half) and about $50 million from their tax base.

Baton Rouge probably should have let them start their own school district….

This is the hidden content, please

Interesting. I hadn't heard that. I bet it's hard to set up a new city.

I wonder if Baton Rouge would be best served to appeal with the caveat of allowing the new ISD in the St. George area.

As I’ve said a few times on here, there may be some witnesses around that might dispute the chicken part.  We’ll see how it plays out

I don't really care what she did with her dog, but couldn't she have just given the "worthless" dog away to a loving prospective owner? I'm sure it was probably a purebred animal that was at least somewhat trained and therefore easy to place in a non farm home.

  6. I have several dogs (inside/outside), cats (inside/outside), have had a plethora of pets (ponies, quail, rabbits, gerbils, mice, fish, ferrets, the list goes on and on). I am an animal lover; however, I would not base my voting decision on whether or not Noem killed her dog, Obama ate a dog, Biden ate a chocolate chocolate chip ice cream with dog crap on it. None of that resounds with me like National Security & Defense, the Economy, Taxes, Spending, Budget...

With that said, Noem should have never brought it up.

Some people have done jail or prison time. I remember some went to jail for flying a Confederate flag. People get arrested for “hate speech” all the time.

Freedom of Speech doesn't mean you can literally say whatever you want whenever you want. Never has. We all have heard the old "Can't yell fire in a crowded theater" reasoning.

Exception to free speech examples (of course these are very broad and are restricted in certain instances): obscenity, defamation, fraud, incitement, fighting words, true threats, speech integral to criminal conduct, child pornography...

Not going to hurt her, she was a slim chance to be the VP pick anyway.

She has doubled down on the story by telling about horses she recently had to put down...the horror!

Apparently this bothers others more than it bothers her.

The story reflects more on our sissified country than it does on Kristi Noem, imo.

It doesn't bother me a bit. It was just unnecessary and foolish to not consider the repercussions. No doubt it also reflects on where we are as a country. That's why she needs to be better at "reading the room".

Save the story for your "after political career" biography.

Ok. Couldn’t let this one pass.  All the countries listed are countries that Russian interests prefer we and our allies leave alone (to them). Any thoughts, pea brain?

Isn't it obvious? What do you think the "cancel culture" has done? Conservatives have been attacked and even beaten on college campuses when invited to speak. People have been fired from work for being a conservative. Actors have been kicked out of Hollywood for being a consevative. Twitter, Facebook and youTube have banned conservatives (election interferance)  including Trump. Athletes have been kicked off teams for being conseratives. On and on and on.

I could type forever but you get it.

I understand what you're saying, and I get it. But that's not literally outlawing free speech. Every American still has that right.

  11. 1. Depending on the circumstances, I don't have a problem with it. I've had to do it myself for certain reasons more than once.

    2. Probably would've suited her best to leave it out. Be ready to defend it if it comes out later, but don't invite the opportunity for criticism. There'll be plenty for "them" to go after without giving "them" something else to bloody her nose.

    3. She should have considered if the possible backlash would outweigh the positive message she was trying to convey (which apparently it has). If that's what she has to use as an example of making tough decisions (just what I heard on here - not sure if that's why) then she has led a sheltered life.

The phrase that comes to mind is "What were you thinking?"

and again... I work with these kids.. they tell me what they think.. so you can agree or disagree.. its their point of view!!

I just don't think it's as big an issue as what's being discussed. My opinion.

I played 3 sports and went on to play college soccer.  But the football coach wasn't having me do contact drills (or kicking drills) in the middle of soccer district, jeopardizing my soccer playoffs, either.  I think that's the issue here.  All of the guys on here who pretty much only care about football think that's the way the AD should run things, and a good AD should be taking care of all athletes and making sure all teams are as successful as possible.

I'll concede a hair. "A good AD should be taking care of all athletes" as long as football is the primary focus. And that's not because I'm a football guy. That's just the way it is.

You can't tell me that these big time jobs aren't going to look beyond football record when they have hundreds of applications?

That's exactly what I'm opining. In 2022 PN-G went to state in football, right? They went 3-6 in district in baseball that same year. I bet the only one that knows that stat either played baseball that year or looked it up. I don't think the baseball record hurt the AD's street cred.

  15. 10 minutes ago, hitman009 said:

I would not say NO ONE REALLY CARES WHAT HAPPENS WITH BASEBALL.. All you have to do is go to Ford Park every weekend and look at how much money parents pour into baseball.. lol

I get what you are saying.. but look at it from this point of view... WINS look good on resume correct? Would a AD do better if he has all his multi-sport kids stay in his program? Again they are usually the more athletic kid. Is his actions driving away the more athletic kids to "concentrate on one sport"? Sometimes more is not better.. Kids get burned out really quick if they believe their AD/Coach does not care about their personal athletic dreams and desires.

Like I said.. a Good AD knows how to navigate this issue.

I think this whole discussion is getting overly hyped. My son played 3 sports and went on to play college football (still in school). I played 4 sports and went on to play college football. Neither of us (separated by 30+ years) got anything but support from our respective AD's and coaches.

  16. Just now, hitman009 said:

there won't be a scheduling problem... cause AD's don't allow them to play.. its a nice double standard they like to use.

Can't blame the AD. Texas is a Football mecca. If an AD does poorly in football, but decent in baseball, he may be looking for another job soon. If he does great in football, then no one really cares what happens with baseball, generally speaking. He's trying to keep a job and bolster his resume' for the next chance to promote his career.

  17. Just now, hitman009 said:

Yep!! You usually don't hear much about it cause baseball coaches will not let their players who play football join.

Sorry, I didn't know that. I guess they can do both, and if there is a schedule problem, the kid will have to decide.
