It was basically 5-4 on the Birthright Citizenship via the 14th. Kavanaugh said birthright citizenship didn't come from the 14th, but from a previous Law passed by Congress, and that made the EO illegal. So, he was in the minority opinion (4) along with Gorsuch, Alito, and Thomas on that issue. He left an avenue in his split decision that would have allowed Congress to pass another Law defining citizenship without needing an Amendment because--in his view--the 14th didn't grant automatic birthright citizenship.
Like I said, 6/3. Based on constitutional law.

It was 6/3, I'm pretty sure.
While I don't really like the outcome, I believe it was the correct ruling based on Constitutional law.

It's hard to disagree with that statement. There are two things you can do: Live with it or change it. The votes aren't there to change it, so....

Read my last sentence in the comment you quoted.
I was commenting on some of your other sentences...
"For clarification: schools run a background check from the DPS database. If that comes back "clear", the school check references. Former employers are only technically allowed to provide 1. dates of employment 2. eligible for rehire yes/no 3. they may also provide safety info for DOT sensitive positions.
Anything beyond the above listed information can expose the former employer to legal trouble."
And my comment was they are ok to provide any factual information as long as the prospect signed a release and it is truthful and non-inflammatory.
Your limitation of only 3 things that an employer can "technically" provide is incorrect. I've tested it in court. A few times...

The release authorizes the new employer to conduct a background check. It does not release a "former employer" to say things that are confidential outside of what was identified. In the event that a former employer provides unsubstantiated (rumor based or opinion) information that prevents a person from getting hired there is exposure regardless of any signed document.
I'm sorry sir, you are incorrect on this one. I do this for a living. I'll keep the explanation as short as possible, but as long as your replies as the former employer are fact-based and not purposefully inflammatory, you can relay certain info about a previous employee to a prospective employer. Especially if the prospect in question has signed a release.
Chapter 103 of the Texas Labor Code protects from defamation liability an employer who releases information about a current or former employee to a prospective new employer, unless "the information disclosed was known by that employer to be false at the time the disclosure was made or that the disclosure was made with malice or in reckless disregard for the truth or falsity of the information disclosed."
Follow my guidelines, and it will serve you well:
Release only factual information
Supply Only What Is Requested
Tell the Truth
Avoid Inflammatory Terms
Use a Written Release Form

Not necessarily the case. If you're a prospective employee and you sign an "Employment Information Release" or "Authorization for Release of Information" with a prospective employer so they can vet you (pretty common practice these days), the document gives past employers explicit written permission to share details about your work history. It also acts as a liability release, protecting the previous company from lawsuits (such as defamation claims) for the information they provide.

Sadly, a lot of school districts choose to let the pervert resign so they don't have to report it and take the time to go to court. If you remember several years ago a Memorial coach was jailed for this and when it came out that there were allegations at other schools, the girl sued those schools. I don't remember the outcome of the lawsuits. My favorite professor at Lamar, Coach John Payton, always told us to never be alone with any of your students. I have lived by his advice now for 33 years.
I took Coach Payton’s coaching class at Lamar in the mid/late 80’s. What an awesome class and teacher.

What honorable person would have a knife at a high school track meet?!
It was definitely a different time, but I can't remember a time I went to a track meet, football game, golf match or baseball game as a student athlete (yeah, I lettered in 4 sports 😎) without a pocket knife as a student athlete. Hell, I carried one to class, to student council meetings, to school dances. I was a teenage young man in Southeast Texas. I always had a knife on me. Lol.

Jalapeño and Cheese Sausage is pretty legit too.
Exactly. Here's my go to when I want to change it up.
Big Daddy's Beans (Yes, they call me "Big Daddy")
Pound of pinto beans, anasazi beans (learned about these from @tvc184) or red beans.
Pound of ground beef
Pound of jalapeno sausage (I use my deer jalapeno cheese sausage)
Large onion - yellow or white
Can of rotel
Pinto bean seasoning, tony's or some other season salt
Garlic powder
Black pepper
3 bay leaves
Cook it like you cook beans normally - on the stove, instant pot, crock pot etc.
Serve with some rice, cornbread and real butter.
I have several bean variations, but this one is real good with the jalapeno sausage...

Anyone who thinks no one should be arrested is foolish.
Luckily, I never said no one should be arrested. I just made the astute claim that no one will be arrested. But I will walk that back just a little bit. IF someone is arrested, it will be someone of LITTLE or no consequence. Further, even though being arrested, that person would probably do very little if any time.

I thought I'd humor those who choose to read with some of my thoughts on this fine morning.
As anyone who reads my posts is aware, I'm not big on political parties. I consider myself a conservative libertarian. I believe in free markets and free people. I believe in individualism and personal liberty. My personal belief is the current political parties have long ago left their purpose of serving the people, and exist now only to collect power and stay in power. They exist to protect themselves, and the power they have--and can--accumulate. These are their primary drivers.
The future of our--and our kids/grandkids--way of life seems to have been turned into nothing more than a sporting event by the two major parties. They've minimized it to the point where we can literally gamble online about the future direction of our country. As a cynical view, I'd think they were doing it on purpose to simplify, divide, and distract.
With that said, I thought I'd post some quotes from one of my personal, favorite thinkers. If you've never heard of her, I'd recommend a quick look at some of her thoughts. If you have heard of her--but it's been awhile--it may be a good time to refresh your memories on some of her thoughts.
No matter which Party you choose, I'd hope that some of these quotes strike a nerve, help remind us all of what's made America great, why she was founded, and what can be accomplished when our freedoms are actually unleashed.
I'll step off my soapbox, and hope the below quotes are meaningful to everyone in some way. If you feel it's worthwhile, please post thoughts and/or quotes that are personally meaningful to you as they relate to our current political atmosphere. It would be interesting to me to see where people stand--aside from the specific headlines discussed in other threads. I'm curious if we all aren't closer in our beliefs than what we may think, or further apart.

All quotes are courtesy of Ayn Rand
- America's abundance was created not by public sacrifices to the common good, but by the productive genius of free men who pursued their own personal interests and the making of their own private fortunes. They did not starve the people to pay for America's industrialization. They gave the people better jobs, higher wages, and cheaper goods with every new machine they invented, with every scientific discovery or technological advance- and thus the whole country was moving forward and profiting, not suffering, every step of the way.
- Individual rights are not subject to a public vote; a majority has no right to vote away the rights of a minority; the political function of rights is precisely to protect minorities from oppression by majorities (and the smallest minority on earth is the individual).
- Socialism is the doctrine that man has no right to exist for his own sake, that his life and his work do not belong to him, but belong to society, that the only justification of his existence is his service to society, and that society may dispose of him in any way it pleases for the sake of whatever it deems to be its own tribal, collective good.
- Whoever claims the right to redistribute the wealth produced by others is claiming the right to treat human beings as chattel.
- It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master.
- Every government interference in the economy consists of giving an unearned benefit, extorted by force, to some men at the expense of others.
While some concepts of Ayn Rand's "philosophy" are interesting and true, she's hard to take as a whole. I studied her work quite a bit in the early 90's in my political science days. Most of her arguments are theoretic and less evidence-based. Plus she's a hypocrite. Lol. Despite the fact that she strongly criticized government programs, she received Social Security and Medicare in her later years. She was a radical, and as with most radical approaches, the real answer lies closer to the middle.

This part right here…. “If the kid was someone I cared about, I MIGHT not vote Trump, but anybody else’s kid? I’m voting Trump regardless.”
I'm going to go out on a limb and say you've read and/or commented and dozens of posts I've made. You know as well as I do, that post was made partly in fun (except the part about my brother).

And that, my friend, proves once and for all that you aren’t opposed to pedophilia, as long as the guy raping the kid is Trump.
Not true:
First of all, pedophilia is a psychiatric disorder in which an adult (or even an older adolescent) experiences a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescent children. For girls that's generally 10 to 12 - boys a little older...
I don't know even any leftists that are accusing Trump of a pre-pubescent relationship. I think that was Biden's bag, and for the record, I would not even defend my own son if here were proven to be a pedophile.
Secondly, all my comment really proves is that I enjoy stirring the pot and jerking the chain of the members of TDS who can't help taking the bait every time.
Show me credible evidence of Trump being a pedophile.

A while back, my MIL was bored and decided to read a book. She read the Exorcist. After reading it, she said it was the scariest and most vile book she had ever read. She took the book and chunked it off a fishing pier. Being the loving SIL that I am, I bought a replacement copy, soaked it, and placed it in her nightstand.
You don't know how happy that makes my heart. Lord, I wish I had done that...
