  1. Don't know who will win, but you should remember that when BC played HJ last year it was the first game after Hurricane Ike and a lot of the football players were not back in BC. Some were starters. This year should be a better test of both teams. HJ may still have won the game last year but I do believe the game would have been closer. BC's enrollemnt may be lower this year because the rumor is that some families moved during the summer to get away from another possible hurricane flood.
  2. Remember every two years new schedules are made out. If a coach schedules weak teams the first year because he knows his team is weak and he wants a few wins before he gets clobbered in district then the next year his team may be pretty good and he still has to play the notoriously weak teams again and it won't get him ready for district.
  3. I have a gut feeling that BC will by more than a touchdown. Not knocking Liberty but BC has a lot back from last year and this is the third year they will be running the spread.
  4. If they can be fair and impartial and know the game and rules then why not use them. I have absolutely no problem with it. All ref's male or female should be okay.
  5. I attended that game also. I remember the dust on the chairs from a dust storm from west Texas. The record attendance still stands I believe. If I remember right the attendance was 49,970. I don't believe anyone has beaten it. Plano seemed to have a little more people there than PNG but remember Plano is in the back yard of Irving.
  6. Good point. Good luck to both teams. Since I live right next door to Orangefield I will pull for the bobcats.
  7. The Bridge City / Hardin Jefferson game will probably be a toss up since both teams have good people coming back. I would not call it an upset for either team that wins.
  8. A couple of years ago Jordan and I tried to get BCISD to let Setxsports do their games. It did not work out mainly because Setxsports was new and BCISD wasn't ready to make the decision to do the games with a company that did not have much experience doing the games. Now that Setxsports will Carry 5 different high school games plus maybe even Nederland and Port Neches Groves games via a link to KLVI and Cool 92.5 do you think it is time to once again approach BCISD?
  9. Either on radio or setxsports. What stations will carry football this year.
  10. That should be a good game. It could mean a playoff spot for the winner.
  11. No way I would let my kid quit high school. The GED is designed to test your minimum abilities to finish high school. If you are smart enough, yes, you can go to college if you do well enough on the SAT and get whatever degree you are capable of getting. Missing your last two years of high school would, in my opinion, make college a lot tougher. Is there a guarantee that the kid will be the #1 pick? If not he will not receive near as much money if he doesn't get picked first. Everyone needs a good foundation to start out adult life on and missing out on the last two years of high school is not the way to get it.
  12. I can't not see Vidor not making the playoffs this year also. They have a lot of experience coming back and a lot of time playing as a team. They should make it but I don't know how high up they will be. It's all up to them. If they get the big head then who knows what will happen. As for the Indians, I have always liked them. With a new coach and system one would think it will take a couple of years at least to come together. This coach seems to have a great approach and knows how to motivate his team. I went to see the purple and white scrimmage. At times they looked pretty good especially for a team just introduced to the new system they have. However, at times they looked like they needed more practice. The QB's both looked good when they had time to throw but sometimes it looked like the line could not block anyone and the quarterbacks had to throw on the run or be tackled. The running game was very impressive to me. They did some plays in their spring game that it looked like Bridge City could not do until their second season. If they work hard this summer then they may be good enough to be in the playoffs.
  13. I was up at Toledo Bend for the 4 Th. It was way too hot for me to fish but my son in law did night fishing Friday night and Saturday night. He fished deep water trying to catch a big one. He caught a 9 or 10 pounder and missed two more big ones but he does not know how big. He was fishing with his nephew who is about 12 or 13 years old. Needless to say the boy was excited. That was on Friday night. Saturday he and his brother and the same boy went back. This time no luck. No strikes or anything.
  14. I was at the BC game that night but I worked with some LCM fans and they were bragging about it. Later they admitted that it was not a fight but that the Indian was doing his dance and the bear tried to disrupt it. I think he pushed the Indian down or something like that. I was told that the Bear and his principal went to PNG to apologize. I don't know if any of this is the whole truth but this is what I was told.
  15. I don't know who will win the district title but I do believe Vidor will make the playoffs. In no order I see it as PNG, Vidor, Lumberton, Nederland, and Central has having a great shot at the playoffs. One of these won't make it but I am not sure it will be Vidor that stays home. IMO
  16. This is great. However, if a kid cannot play for his team if he makes a C then the Indians might loose some quality players. I am all for greater education but if a kid cannot risk making a C then he might not take Chemistry or some other course he would like to take but won't because of the fact that a C would side line him. JMO
  17. PNG far and away brings the most fans I have ever seen. I believe they have the state record set in the championship game back in the 70's at 49,900 at Texas stadium.
  18. Having two a days during the second week of training could possibly interfere with the school schedule if classes have already started. I don't know if school starts that early or not.
  19. Hey, we tried to do Bridge City games in the past, but the BC administration turned us down. They wanted nothing to do with us. Believe me I know. Jordan and I were the ones that talked to the administration. The supt is a nice guy but it was his first year and I think he was influenced by some coworkers to not try it. I have listened to the Silsbee broadcast and I think they are done very professionally. I believe the administration would have been all right with the broadcast if it had been allowed.
  20. Any Orange county team that makes the playoffs will probably have their games carried by KOGT unless there is a scheduling conflict. I only said that they tend to do more WOS games because WOS is the most successful team in the county.
  21. That's easy. WOS and whoever they play. They are real good at what they do. Gary Stelly is the best. They are an Orange radio station so they seem to carry more WOS games than anyother teams. And WOS has had more success the the other teams in Orange county. That is why I wish that Setxsports were able to carry the other teams on their broadcast.
  22. I went to see the scrimmage at PNG. There is a lot of hype about the new coach, new stadium, etc... What my perspective is that PNG's defense looked very good on pass rushing. Most of the passes were rushed because of the defensive rush. On the occasions that the quarterback was protected the QB's both did pretty well. As for the run plays the offensive line opened pretty big holes and allowed some great runs. I think PNG will put it all together before the season is through. The scrimmage was the first look at the new offense and defense. There was some very good hitting for a scrimmage. I was impressed. As for who will win between PNG and BH, I have no clue as to what BH will bring to the table. Should be a good season.
  23. Thanks. Right back to every dad. Now lets eat bar-be que.
  24. Is coach Huckaby the Brian Huckaby originally from Bridge City. Not a coach from Bridge City but I mean did he go to school in Bridge City?
