I'm not sure they aren't abiding by the law as is being said. PNG evidently has a particular coach in mind and they are trying to obtain their objective. If they aren't abiding by the law then I'm sure the appropriate entity will intervein. I just think that they are persuing all their options. What is it that everyone wants? PNG to take the first coach that comes along even if he is not the one they really want. If the one they are after does not make himself available then they will have to take the best that applied. All the proding in the world will not chance the outcome. Is this because it is PNG that some are so concerned about? I know some will still shout "But it's the law". If this were Sabine Pass would there be so much fuss? I don't have a dog in this fight. I do not think that PNG or anyother school is better than Sabine Pass or anybody else. I just think that PNG or whoever is trying to hire a HC/AD should be able to go after the best they can get. I guess if they did publish the list and did not hire anyone from it people would then want to accuse them of thinking they are better than anybody that applied. I don't really care who they hire. I just read these post and picked a side that I think is fair. JMO

I live in Bridge City and I support our coach. I think he is the man for the job right now. If we were in the hunt for a new coach then I would want our board to do exactly what PNG's board is doing which is trying to get the best coach they can possibly get. And if it means to keep the list of candidates confidential then so be it.

Bridge City's Shane Dronett Found Dead
Cardinal Supporter replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I remember Shane when he was playing in high school. He was an awesome player, a man among boys at that time. What can one say at a time like this. This is very sad. I pray for his family and also for him. May God bless his soul. -
PNGISD to file with Attorney General
Cardinal Supporter replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
There are so many threads about the PNG situation that I don't know on which one to post. I would like to know the names but the board is not letting the list out for whatever reason. I am wondering when they are going to reveal the names and are they going to list all who filed or just the finalist or even just the winner. They are accused of doing somethin that they don't want the public to know. What ever the reason is I'm sure they will not release that either. However, if they do hire a primere coach that turns PNG into a perennial power maybe other school boards will try to copy PNG's board for their search when they need to hire a new coach. I think this subject has gone far enough and everyone should just wait for the board to reveal the name or names when they think it is appropriate. They have their reasons for doing what they are doing. We just don't know it yet. -
In larger school districts where there are more than one high school there is a separate athletic director for all the high schools in the school district. Doesn't Beaumont have one Athletic director for all three high schools in its district? Where the district is small like WOS, BC, PNG, NED...etc the head coach is usually the AD to justify paying more money. I know Lamar just got a head coach for football but Billy Tubs is the athletic director. Tubs was the AD also when he was the head coach for the basketball team simply to pay him more money. I believe Pat Foster also was HC and AD at Lamar for the same reason.

Gordan LeBouef was a great running back back in the 50's on a state championship team. His brother Rodney also was on that team I think. I was too young to know just how good he was. I believe he was a brusing back like Kyle Haynes for TJ was during the 60's. I do remember Jeff the Jet Bergeron. In my opinion he was better than even little Joe in high school. And that is saying a lot. He was faster and also was a very good passer as a half back. Little Joe could cut better than just about anybody and of course Joe Washington went on to greater and better things in college and the pros.

I too would like to know the names of the applicants and their background. I would like to know what coaches are interested in coming to PNG. However, what purpose would it serve other than to satisfy my curiosity. I'm sure there is an underlying reason behind this decision. It is the decision of the board for whatever reason. When the new coach/AD is named he will have just as much chance as if he and the other applicants were named in advance of the hiring. If he produces a winning team and does a good job of trying to get his players some kind of scholarship then he will be just fine.

I had heard that Matt Hicks had moved to Lake Charles Barbe after his home was flooded my hurricane Ike. Is that not true? -
SETX Sports Fishing Tournament?

I personally like T Bend fresh water myself. -
I went to this game and Kountze was bigger than I thought they would be. They looked bigger than BC. They have a very good running back. Very strong and hard to bring down. BC's running back, Joe Robinson, had a very good game. He ran hard and was very hard to bring down also. He made a lot of yards on second effort. The referees were evidently calling the game real tight. There were too many penalties on both sides. Especially on BC. There was a span where there was 5 penalties in a row. I can't remember but most if not all was on BC. I did not see any of the infractions but I was watching the ball carrier and did not see the infractions. BC had one TD called back because of a penalty and wound up with no points on the drive. There was another long run that got down inside the 10 and was called back because of a penalty. It was like that the whole first half. BC missed the extra point on the first TD because of a bad snap. At least that is what it looked like to me. BC went for two on the next to last TD and looked like they made it but the ref saw it differently. It looked like he caught the ball with both his feed across the goal line facing the playing field. He was then hit from behind and the ref said he did not get it in. At least that is what it looked like to me. Kountze's defense played tough the whole game. BC's offense played good in the first half and very good in the second half. The defense played very good in the second half and kept the Lions from making a point after the half. The first half the defense did not look very fired up and seemed to play a lack luster half of football. If they come out and play like they did in the second half they will win more games. The coaches need to recognise this and get the team fired up to play a whole 48 minutes. Good job by both teams. After the Lions jumped out to a 22 point lead I was afraid the score was going to soar in the second half. BC rose to the occasion and played like they are capable in the second half and made a good game out of it and almost won. Good job BC and good luck next week.

Hurricane Gustav Makes Landfall

If the olympics can do away with softball then we ought to be able to do away with hurricane season. -
Will all the rain lately push back the projected finish date or will the first game still be played on October 10?
-
Nederland always gives WOS a good game. They usually play better against WOS than they do just about anybody else as does Vidor when they play WOS. Both teams will be good and it will be a great game. I have to give WOS a slight edge based on what they have coming back this year. Let the games begin. I am ready.
