  1. Good luck Cody and keep up the good work ethics.
  2. Where can you find updated pictures of the new Indian stadium?
  3. Congratulations Justin. I hope turns out great for you if you decide to take it. Auburn is a great school.
  4. It is very premature to state that no one will beat WOS in district for the next 5 to 10 years. That may be right because no one has beaten them in district since they dropped down to 3A. But who knows what will happen year in and year out. You would have to have divine intervention to know that for sure.
  5. I agree, but I think BC is in the same position as OF. There are alot of new homes being built, but I think the people building those homes have younger kids. Not many high school kids moving in. Look for BC and OF to grow alot over the next 10 years. The new housing complex being built by the Orange airport will be in the BC school district I believe. That will add a lot of students to the school district. It will be interesting to see how many are high school age. I am wondering if the existing schools will be able to absorb these new students or will there be over crowding?
  6. With so many new homes being built in BC and so many people moving in I was supprised to see that BC's enrollment has dropped.
  7. I like the new 6 team district. It didn't matter too much who the opponents are but more time to get ready for district competition is a + in my thinking. If teams can schedule tough enough teams in pre-district then they can be better by the time district starts. You can learn a lot more in 6 weeks of games and practice then you can in 4 weeks. I do not know who BC has on their new schedule but if anyone knows please post it here. For that matter I would like to see all 3a and 4a school schedules in the golden triangle area.
  8. Come on KDOsullivan, give it a chance. That's all anyone is asking. You are entitled to your own opinion but at least give it a chance. If after a few seasons if it fails then you can say something about it but give it a chance now. You may see that it is a good thing for Lamar. I know the hiking up of the tuition is not too popular but all the student body, that is at least on campus, voted 79% to 21% to pay the higher tuition. Lets hope all the home work was done right and it will be a success. I hope the right coach applies and is hired for the job and we can enjoy Lamar football again. If good local high school football athletes ban together and play for Lamar I believe the team will be very competitive.
  9. I am in favor of bringing football back to Lamar, but then I do not have any kids that are students there. However, I do have a son that is teaching there and he said that from what he is hearing is that the students in his classes are mostly against the return. But that is just a small part of the student body. I hope it returns. By the way, my son would like it to return.
  10. Well with the weather like it is today I'm not sure how much practice will be done today unless it is classroom type or held in the gym. May be next week things will get rolling better.
  11. Johnny Dishon graduated last year and is at LSU.
  12. I thought Bridge City had more starters returning than 4. I know Hicks, Jackson, and Robertson are returning but who else is coming back?
  13. The offense will improve some. They seemed to improve with just about every game last year and experience will make a little difference this next year. Offensively they could win some games next year. However, if the defense doesn't get it together it will be a long year again. The offense would have to score in the 40's each game to have a chance to win the way the defense played. Sorry guys, I don't want to act like I don't think you will improve. I know you can. And I will support you win or loose. The coaching staff really needs to look at the defense hard during the off season. The kids did not seem to know how to defend and I could see many mistakes and miss tackles or no real attempt to make a tackle in some cases. The secondary needs some serious improvement on how to defend on a pass play. I know there were a lot of injuries and hopefully next year that will not be the case. I don't think BC football will stay down for long. Work hard during the off season and pay attention to what the coaches are telling you. The coaches don't want to loose either. Good luck.
  14. What is emnas ??? ??? ???
  15. If they played this year then I would pick Newton. Probably next year also because I believe Newton will be bringing back a lot of players.
  16. I have Direct TV so the NFL channel is not a problem for me. What I have a gripe about is FOX 29 broadcasting the Saints instead of the Cowboys. I can get channel 29 usually clear enough to watch but the Cowboys are only broadcasted on channel 64 which I cannot catch clear enough to watch a game on. If the channel is located in Beaumont why can it not be strong enough to catch all over the golden triangle? I am a Cowboy fan not a Saints fan so I couldn't care less about the New Orleans team. There are more people in Texas that catch channel 29 than there are in Louisiana so if Fox wanted to carry the Saints why couldn't they have put them on channel 64 and put it in Lake Charles? If you have TWC then you can catch channnel 64 but not the NFL channel. I guess we are expected to have both Direct TV and TWC to catch the channels we want to watch.
  17. There are 4 or 5 Knight brothers. Jamie is the youngest and I think Tony is just older than him. He is a good guy.
  18. Boy! I would like to see any team from this district win the state championship in any sport, but I just think it is way too early to predict a state championship even before practice has started.
  19. I heard Bridge City has Odessa Permian, Dallas Oak Cliff, and Lumberton. Three power houses. LOL. I really have no idea. They probably will still schedule teams like Liberty and Kelly if they can get it. I don't know if Lumberton would schedule Bridge City again until BC gets its program back together.
  20. I was at both of the PNG championship games in Texas stadium. One of them had the seats full of dust from a west Texas dust storm but I don't remember if it was for the Odessa game or the Plano game. In the Odessa game in 1975 Ritchie Ethridge threw a 59 yard pass and completion. The ball actually traveled 61 yards in the air. The receiver fell as soon as he caught the ball. In the Plano game coach Ethridge's other son muffed a punt that Plano recovered and later scored a touchdown on it. They won the game 13 - 10. Oh, by the way I was 29 for the Plano game.
  21. If the Cards work hard during the summer they will no doubt be a better club. The offense in particular. The defense needs some serious changes to be any better than they were this year. The offense seemed to improve from the first game to the last but the defense seemed to only get worse. JMO
  22. My father was in his late 80's when he passed away. He paid taxes up until that time. He did not pay school taxes sometime after he was in his mid to late 60's. My wife and I are both on fixed income and are under 65. We pay taxes just like everyone else in Bridge City. We passed a bond and built a new high school and our school taxes went up and we have to pay them like everyone else. I am assuming you were talking about school taxes when you said you thought people on a fixed income did not pay taxes. You can be on a fixed income and be under 65 and still have to pay taxes. Being on a fixed income does not keep you from paying school taxes. It is the age that they look at I think. When I get to be 65 I will definitely look into it but that is still a few years away. Hope I helped.
  23. Back in the mid 70's when PNG was in their prime a PNG friend of mine was humming a song. "I'm dreaming of a purple and white Christmas." I thought that was pretty cool. I will now say it for Dayton. I hope you have a purple and white Christmas. I don't know anything about the other teams so I don't feel I can make a prediction however, I am pulling for you guys all the way. The whole area is dreaming of a purple and white Christmas for Dayton.
  24. That has been going on forever. If you stand to cheer when appropriate there should be no problem. I personally think it is rude to just stand to watch the entire game, or at least most of it, while standing in front of other spectators. If it is an intense part of the game and everyone is standing for an entire series of downs or until the ball is turned over then I say go with the flow. However, if one or two or so want to whatch the game standing then they should be the one to find another place that is not blocking the game from other patrons. Just my oppinion.
  25. Sounds like two very offensive teams. May be the offenses were too over powering for the defenses.
