Some of the other sport coaches did not like not having the names of players on the back of their shirts, Jerseys, etc... That was a petty thing in my opinion to be mad at but it happened.

WOS Silsbee BC Orangefield HJ HF Orangefield will be better than some are predicting. JMO

I'm sure that BC will do like most all other teams when it comes to their pitchers. They will pitch a lot of kids during the pre season including the aces. During the district competition they will use mostly the aces and the others for relief if needed.

I hope to go watch the spring game. I am interested in what the new system looks like. But beware. I remember coach Malone. People were saying he was weeding out the babies and momma's boys and so on. A lot of parents did not like the tough program he instilled. And a lot of teachers also. Yes, his program worked and is what was needed to turn PNG around at the time. He made them into winners. But beware of parents and some teachers that work around him. They are not used to the rigid program. I hope everyone at PNG accepts it and not just the fans. Good luck PNG. I am excited for you and hope this system brings good things to the tribe.

If you are right and I think you probably are then why would any coach apply for a position he knows he will not get unless he was asked to apply by the HC? I also thought that it may be required by law to post it even though the HC knows who will get the job.

Am I not understanding this right? This article said that "posting for the new positions will begin immediately." If this is for two coordinators and two new assistant coach positions, will they be posted to let the any coach apply? I thought he would bring in whoever he wants for the positions approved. I must not be reading this correctly.

Especially if your teams season is extended.

Bridge City will be good. They have been for quite a while. But I hate to talk about how far any team will go in the playoffs before the first game has even been played. Lets get to the playoffs first. I think we have an excellent chance of getting there. Just play hard and stay healthy.

I'm sure all of the opponents for next year are set. I hope when the new realignment takes place PNG will schedule WOS and PAM and maybe even WB. I know that is a tall order but if the coach is as good as everyone thinks then PNG should be able to compete with them. JMO

Sounds like a great coach. I too believe the harder you work the better you will be. I saw some of WOS practices and believe they are successfull because of the hard work Hooks and company put those kids through.

. And the tradition comments are with respect to the expectations at PNG. And answer me this, When has PNG ever had top of the line talent? Ever? Sure we have had a few very talented young men, but never the talent of PA or Central and Ozen across the board, but PNG has enough talent to work with in an inovative offense. I agree badndn. I saw PNG play in the playoffs in 1974. They had a good team that was outmanned at almost every position. Their line consisted of several 160's pounders. I don't think anyone on the team weighed over 200 pounds. The reason they were successful was because they had good coaching and played as a team.

Well, it seemed like a stupid idea anyway. I don't know if any other school is doing that or not but it doesn't seem fair anyway. Some kids do well enough to maintail a passing average then the pressure of the taks test could cause them to not pass on the first try. I am not a teacher but my wife is. The teachers, in her opinion, have to spend too much time teaching taks and not enough time teaching the subjects. Besides there is already no pass no play in effect. And taks is more like an aptitude test anyway.

It doesn't have to be a stepping stone. Every coach got his first HC job somewhere. He could stay if he is happy. If a better position comes up eventually then most but not all would jump at it.

I would like to see the Indians play next year in their new stadium. Since I live in Bridge City I probably could not get tickets unless I sat on the visitors side. I try to see different teams play during the year if possible. I saw WOS play Jasper a couple of years ago and Newton play for the state championship and LCM and PNG over in bear country. I also saw South Lake Carrol play Lufkin. All worth the trip. This year was a bust because of hurricane Ike but hopefully next year will be better. Teams with new coaches are fun to watch sometimes.

I would call that an assault and my parents probably would have pressed charges.

Wildcat58 you said that no local teams have beaten MOJO from Odessa Perriman. PNG beat them for the state championship in 1975. I believe the score was PNG 20 and OP 10.
