  1. Everything looks great. I tught that one level of the press box was scratched to meet the 9 mil budget. I gusee not.
  2. I've been to the Silsbee stadium and in my opinion it is awesome. Hard to beat. The reservation may be the best after it is finished. However, I wish they would have done something at PNG to improve the number of seats on the visitors side. I know they are putting new restrooms and concession stands but the actual stands on the visitors side is still the same.
  3. I think I would have to add football also to Nederland and PNG. They have the biggest crowds in the whole area in my opinion.
  4. Read in the Penny Record today that BC will have a new defensive coordinator, Brad Caraway. Don't know much about him except he has a lot of experience coaching, 25 years I think, and also coached with coach Stump while at Taylor-Cinco Ranch in Katy, Texas. He said that the team has had a good spring and is in good physical shape. I hope the guys also keep up the work in the summer. I believe Josh Smalley is also joining BC's staff as offensive coordinator. If that is true I wonder if they will stay with the spread? If BC is starting yet a new offense and also a new defense it could take a while to get it all together. If the players work hard this summer they will be all right.
  5. Does anyone know what Josh Smalley's role will be on the team? OC or what? He is a good coach.
  6. I know there are some who would like to have a Orange county game of the week, myself included. However, Bridge City has a good following and I would still like to see Bridge City broadcasted every week. Bridge City administrators what do you think?
  7. People have seemed to be on coach Bryants back for the last two or three years. I don't know the man personally but his record may be the best in the area. I don't know. I remember last year when the team was eliminated by a very good Jasper team he got blamed and some were calling for his head. This year the team was again eliminated by a good Jasper team. Perhaps if the series had gone three games BC may have won it. However, the loss in no way was coach Bryants fault. Parson's from Jasper had perhaps his best outing of the year. I was at the game and he kept the batters off balance so much that sometimes they swung at balls and missed badly. Parsons was the reason why BC lost, not anything that coach Bryant did or did not do. I have heard that the man has a bad personality or no personality. Well he sure can coach baseball. I know that a previous coach was very liked by BC fans, myself included. Some fans even want to name the stadium after him. To me that was a slap in the face to coach Bryant for the good job he did with the baseball program. My opinion only. I'm not saying that coach Young does not deserve to be honored. I believe that coach Bryants winning percentage may be the best in the schools history. I'm not sure. There must be some other reason anybody would want to replace him other than "We just don't like him". Don't believe for a minute that another coach can continue the winning tradition that BC has seen over the last few years. That doesn't mean that the program would suffer either. We just can't look in to the future like that. We do have good baseball talent in BC but as in any sport it needs to be handled right for the program to succeed. If I had a vote in the matter I would vote to keep the coach but I do not know why his job is being questioned. Just my opinion!
  8. Jackson will play in the 1A-3A game while Harrington will play in the 4A-5A Game Oops! My bad. Forgot that. Thanks for pointing it out.
  9. How did the kids that were still involved in baseball for BC do? I don't know if they got to practice or play in any games since baseball is now over.
  10. What a line up. Eric Harrington pitching to Casey Jackson. Good luck guys. You both deserve it. Glad to see you get to play in one more high school game. Good luck to both of you at the college level also.
  11. This needs to be done. Many schools are operating in the red, and if fuel keeps going up it could cause issues. Yep. And does ANYONE really believe that 300 mile roundtrips won't decrease fan support?? So there will probably be fewer visiting fans and the visiting schools will be paying a lot more fuel cost. That equates to a loss of money by the schools. Schools do not like that. I am not saying I am for it or against it. Just something else to think about.
  12. I did not see this post until I got back from the game or I would have liked to meet some of you. There was not a empty seat to be found. Many were smart enough to bring a lawn chair. People were lined up along the fence past the 1st and 3rd bases. A very good crowd. It was a good game. I hated to see BC end the season on a one game playoff. I know BC has at least two more good pitchers but I don't know about Jasper. BC did not play their best but they played good. Jasper was just a little better tonight. Most of the hits Jasper got were of the blooper type except for the towering home run by Malcom Bronson. I did not understand what happened on the intentional walk just before Bronson came to bat. It did not look like Billy Bryant was happy about whatever happened there. Good luck to you Jasper. You deserved to win tonight. I wish it could have been a three game series.
  13. They certainly have had good weather. Maybe they have done a lot more work than it looks like and the next phase will proceed faster. 8)
  14. Congrats Cardinals. Good game Clark. Who will pitch tomorrow, Dillon?
  15. Sorry about the spelling. He has a brother that is named Rodney, at least I think they were brothers. Rodney was good also but I don't think was as good as Gordon. He was a teacher and coach but went on to be superintendent at Kountze I believe. Wasn't Labove's first name Bobby?
  16. High school football and high school baseball are my two favorite sports. I hope BC will make it exciting next year. I am ready.
  17. There are so many from this area the arguments could go on forever. I remember Jeff Bergeron from PNG. In fact I saw PNG play Linclon when both Jeff Bergeron and Joe Washington were playing against each other. In my opinion Jeff was the best all around back of the two. I saw him with blazing speed and as a good receiver as well as passer. He threw a half back pass in several games for completions. He needed an attitude adjustment when he was a kid or he could have been a great NFL player in my opinion. Steve Wooster was a great running back. If you could go back and watch film of him you could see what I saw. He was a man upon boys when he was playing. I have not seen another running back that possessed the ability of running with a football as he did. We are talking high school running backs. That would be my two picks for running backs. Yes, I know that there are a lot of other very good backs to choose from. They were all good. I mean, how far back should we go. When I was a little kid in the 50's there was a running back for PNG's state championship team named Gorden Lebluff. I don't know anything about him but I heard all the adults at the time saying that there probably would never be a better running back ever. So there you go. We all have opinions and that is just what they are. These RB's will never be accurately judged against each other. Again, they were all good.
  18. When will the high windy days cease?
  19. Agreed. That is why they have the playoffs.
  20. Jasper won the state championship in baseball last year. The games could have gone either way but it went Jasper's way. I was there. They earned it and deserved to win the state championship. Every champion will eventually fall. That is the way the cookie crumbles. WOS did not in football yet but that too may happen some day. It is just inevitable. Don't count BC as state champions until it happens. I, as all BC fans, hope that BC will bring home the championship. However, there is still a whole host of playoff teams to face before that can happen. Good luck BC, Jasper, HJ, and Silsbee whichever one makes the playoffs.
  21. Great and interesting pictures. Thanks
  22. Nederland wins 1-0. Bases loaded hit back to mound with force at home and throw to first resulted in an error. Runner from second scores.
  23. Going to the bottom of the 7 TH still tied 0-0. Nederland pitcher has 10 strike outs.
  24. Is Dillon pitching for BC?
