Ran and threw the ball very well. Scored several times. And played very good on the defensive side as well!
To be very blunt, LCM and every other 9th grade will do well against Silsbee's 9th. ;) :(
Is there an Albatross in the Silsbee system?
Gas, you know of this particular group as well as I do. ::) They won 1 game total in their 7th and 8th grade years.
I've noticed that the Jags and Coogs will square off tomorrow morning at 9:00a.m., but is that going to be JV and freshman first, followed by the varsity squads? Also, does anyone know where the scrimmage is going to be? KFDM wants to cover this matchup, awesome test for Central... we just wanted to see if any Jags fans had details! Thanks.
JV and 9th will start at 9am, varsity to follow around 10:30 am. The scrimmage will be held at BISD Stadium (Da Butch)

It was descent scrimmage for both teams. Both defenses gave up a couple of big plays but for the most part played well. Both offenses still need work on the passing game but all in all looked good. Silsbee just needs to give those two soph. (QB & RB) time to get some experience and they will be fine behind that very good O-line. Silsbee's secondary still needs work but it was poor tackling by the front 7 that actually cost the Tigers the two scores. On a sad note, PAM transfer Devonte Thomas is lost for the season with a knee injury that he suffered last week in the Kirbyville scrimmage. It was originally thought to be not serious but after getting an MRI it revealed a more serious injury that will keep him out for 3 months. Thomas was the starting defensive end that really looked promising. He is expected back by district play in basketball.

If I can get internet service, I will be updating. If not, will have Grad post updates. Heard this will be a three 10 minute quarter "game type" scrimmage.
3 twelve minute quarters*
Nope, it was 10 minute quarters. ;)
Given the amount of players that Cardinals were down to after their scrimmage last week, this is an ominous sign. I hope everything is okay with Coach Jones and his guys down there.
Yep. The word I got was HI was down to just 14 or 15 players total. Hope this doesn't turn out to be what Chester went through a couple of years ago.

And, if the stupid UIL decides to go to the Divisional districts, then who knows what districts the local 3A schools will be in let alone what number the district will be.
I know there was talk of that. You think they would mess everything up like that though?
I sure hope not.

I was told that it was the price of the rental. Bowers was cheaper than Moorehead. Go figure. -

Thanks
But the topic is 'Zone Defense' for crying out loud!! :) Just not that exciting..
So true. Kinda like HJ's defense ;D
Definitely. almost as boring as 30-37 wins per season wins per season
Is there an echo in here? ;D
Utfan, I was told by a classmate of mine that this could be the BEST overall Silsbee group (sophomore class) that they have had in the last 10 years. With the mix of great seniors and experienced juniors, the could suprise some people. I look for them to have a winning record and go to the 3rd round of the playoffs.
I'll go a much bigger step further. This sophomore group can potentially be the best athletic class in Silsbee since the 1972 class. This soph. class has won at each level they have played in so far and in every sport. The '72 class is the best ever to come through Silsbee and their accomplishments show it. Their senior year they were district champs in football (advanced to Quarterfinals, todays regional finals) were district champs in basketball (advanced to state tourney, losing to eventual state champ Odessa Ector in semis), was runner up in baseball (back then only the district champ advanced to playoffs) and was district champ in track (sent two to state meet). Two of the football players (Hunter and Skinner) were all state and went on to be All Americans in college and played in the NFL, with Hunter being named All Pro. David Brown made all state in basketball and was all conference in college, playing a couple of years in the NBA. As for this year, it starts with at least 8-10 on the varsity football team with 5-6 starting. ;)
