I don't know. He could have and at least that was what I was told when I asked why he hadn't played in the scrimmages. But him being injured is irrelevant now.
I dont think so, I think it very relevant. If he is not injured then why did they allow the media to associate him with the team for this long and if he is injured and that is what has sidelined him, then would we even be having this conversation if he was still healthy?
Good point. I do know that the media only found out about him being ineligible today. -

These 2 boys were not recruited by Yates, my son played with them this summer on his AAU team. They moved to Houston after living in Mission since Feb. Good kids, with a lot to learn Only playing organized bb since Feb. Sadiq is quite amazing to see.
Ok, sounds like you're more in the know than I am. Pray tell why ANYONE would go to Yates if it wasn't for sports. The coach may not have recruited, but these kids were recruited by SOMEONE.
;) ;) ;) ;D ;D ;D Could one say those two chose Yates for the schools academic appeal? NAHHHH!! ;D

WOW...so my 15-yr-old son, who was a sophomore last year, was playing against a 19-yr-old!!??? No wonder why WOS has been on top for so long. I'm just wondering why it took so long for it to come up this year. Last year should have been it for him, and those at WOS knew that!!!!
Last year WAS it for him... So what's the problem? And if your son plays varsity, I'd be willing to be he's already played against a 19 yr old or two this year. It's way more common than you think. And as for you comment about WOS knowing it, they had no idea until Friday... I'll leave it at that.
Gas, I agree with that statement. But JT and his parents had to know. -
He's 20 years old which is allowable in Texas. He's not participating in athletics and WOS is not breaking any rules. He's working towards his high school diploma in preparation for a full scholarship to a great college. What's the problem?
No problem, other than why wasn't this issue resolved this past spring? Why let this get to the first week of the football season then declare him ineligible? He was ineligible for this season on Sept. 15th of last year. Also, why state that the reasons he was missing scrimmages and the first game was due to injury? It just leads one to think that some folks (and I am not suggesting it were coaches) was willing to risk the Mustangs football season. Thomas became ineligible for this year the day he ran his last race at the state track meet this past May. -

It would seem to me to be a liability issue for the WO-S district. Not good mixing 20 year olds with 14-15 year olds.
You would be surprised how many 19 and 20 year olds are in high school. I know that special needs students are allowed to attend high school until they are 21. -

I mean if I'm in his shoes, I would fill shame that it's being said I'm a 20 year old in High School. He is too old to play sports and wil be 21 going to college as a freshman. sounds like this is a private matter that is being discussed out open forum. It will be good practice for the young men as they get ready for better competition. Just glad its not 2012 and tam!!! Good luck to both teams..
Young O-line?? Where did you get that info from? Silsbee's offensive line is as seasoned as they get. They have four seniors on the line, with 3 of them 3 year starters. They are considered one of the best lines Silsbee has had in quite some time. They are the strength of this offense this year.
I guess we will see come Friday.. ;)
Well, obviously you have no clue (commenting on the "young O-line of Silsbee) ::), therefore your comments have no credibility. The most accurate statement you have made was the "I guess" comment. ;) -

And also...for the record, in order to be considered "the rich" in HS basketball, you must be able to boast a state title or two....Just FYI... ;)
Apples and oranges, but you knew this already. ;) Oh, and HJ and Ozen got there share of transfers this year as well. ;D
What I mean is I remember when the tigers played Channelview and won their tournament and the smiley games and the 5a tournament in Georgetown and winning the Lufkin pineywood and American press tournament in lake Charles those were fun times I know time has changed but just wondering
Could it be that those times you are speaking of were when Silsbee was 4A? ::) I have seen the schedule for this year. Silsbee will be playing in the Nederland tourney and Woodville tourney again. They are scheduled to play in the Big Sandy tourney but I was told they are looking to change that to possibly getting back in the YMBL, but not sure if that would happen. The non-district schedule is a little better this year. Coach Sigler getting hired late will keep him from changing the schedule much. I look for the schedule to remain like it is and then next season Joe can schedule how he wants.

Cleveland's record against Silsbee prior to last year's game: Cleveland 5 wins Silsbee 23 wins ties 2 Cleveland currently has a .160 winning percentage against Silsbee. The question is, why was this just now becoming an issue? Shouldn't folks involved know about this well before the season started and address this then instead of week 0 of this football season? And I am speaking in more of the parents and JT knowing this, not the coaches. Also, why the reports of him being injured as to why he missed the scrimmages and week 0 game? Was he actually practicing? From what I understood, he never suited up for any practices this season, or did he? Just very confusing to me. It's pretty clear his age made him ineligible, so why the mystery and prolong of revealing this fact?
