Transfers and high school sports
AggiesAreWe replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in High School Football
I think this subject can be viewed in many ways. But what I believe 89Falcon is trying to say is that these student athletes that are mentioned were all ruled eligible. The coaches that the player transferred from didn't check the box, the DEC the player is transferring to didn't rule ineligible (and that matters the most since it's comprised of schools that will be competing against said player(s) ), or these players sat out the necessary time before being allowed to play varsity sports. Like Matt stated, UIL will most times not step in on these type situations and will just about always rule the same as the DEC. Should policy change? I say it should. But until then as long as players are ruled eligible, the schools can carry on. Stating that schools recruit can be viewed as sour grapes. Not saying that's the case here but most of the complaining normally comes from the losing teams. In the case of SOC, all their players were ruled eligible so they have done no wrong. -

I like that. And I love DesotOakinVille. LOL!! -
That and the fact that Houston didn't score a run when the game was tied 3-3 in bottom of 7th and Astros had runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Another good pitching game gone to waste.

Question. What would be the criteria for schools that would "have" to play in this open division? I said "have to" instead of "choosing to" because I know some schools would rather play right where the UIL has them playing. If it's just open enrollment, you would be hurting small schools that have open enrollment. Would this open division have classifications? -

I know where you are going with this. He has established residency in EC. Never left it. -
7-2 win for Houston. Another quality start for an Astro pitcher. Wesneski went 6 IP, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, 4 K's, 2 BB. Sousa and De Los Santos with 3 shutout innings. Houston has now won 12 of last 14.

No problem with asking. I am all ears if things need to be updated or changed. We need member feedback.

Saw this on X: The S&P 500 and the Dow Jones just hit new record all time highs this morning. Congratulations to all who invest in America, your 401ks and stocks have never been more valuable. Stocks are now up over 50% since April of 2025 when the “experts” told you economy was collapsing. -
What rule or rules in particular need to be updated?
-
Appreciate your work. I am working on my schedule for the season as well.

What QB?
-
Houston had 13 LOB as oppose to Toronto's 3. Pretty much sums up this loss.
-
I agree. If Javier can give quality starts and Imai solid innings out of the pen, then I feel much better about our pitching staff.
-
Astros had 10 hits tonight but can only score 1 run. Javier actually had a quality start going 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits. 2 K's, BB. Astro pitching did it's job tonight.
-
Lose 3-1. Arlington about to lose so lead stays 2.5 to them and Seattle who are off tonight.

There's no if. He is back and will be the QB. -
If Javier (who got the start tonight) can do well the remaining of the season, then this can be a good trade.
-
He definitely was struggling of late but I think his injury (which is why he is currently on IL) played a part in his struggle. He struggled with control the last few starts but still had better ERA than several on the staff. At best I think this was a push. I just think we needed an arm more than we needed a bat.
-
Arrighetti was 7-5 with a 4.60 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. 87 K's, 50 BB in 88 innings pitched. Varsho is batting .243 with 7 HR and 26 RBI. OBP is .307, SLG .375, OPS .682 Math tells me we got the short end.

Houston is 3rd in AL in runs scored but 12th in runs allowed. But we need a left handed batting OF and not better pitching? SMH

Personally, I don't see Houston making any moves.
