  1. I simply can't see Silsbee promoting Jacob over Ira at this point unless that's Ira wish. Both have interviewed. I can see them promoting Ira to head coach for the next 3-4 years then handing the reigns over to Jacob.
  2. Yes, but for soccer and track.
  3. HJ went undefeated in Pool A, beating Katy Home School, Liberty and Jasper Silsbee went undefeated in Pool B, beating Hamshire-Fannett, Huffman and WO-S HJ defeated Silsbee in the final, 20-7. HJ qualifies for state tourney.
  4. That's for soccer and track.
  5. Not necessarily. He is not certified and Silsbee has always required their head coaches to be certified teachers. Optics has nothing to do with it.
  6. No. This happened in Beaumont. He doesn't comment when things like this happen there. Now when it happens in other cities, towns and communities in our area, he is all over it. Very very quick to respond.
  7. A little bit. Took Silsbee to the state tournament in 2008 and 2010. Regional tourneys in 2005, 2007, 2009.
  8. I need someone to respond to this subject. Need his expertise in calling out this sort of thing.
  9. Tremaine Hancock didn't apply. Travis Williams did apply.
  10. I stated that in my post above. But I think you knew that already. 😉
  11. I don't like to get involved in any hiring process or campaign for anyone. But if it was up to me, I would promote Ira Brooks to the head coach position and make his son Jacob 1st assistant and be HC in waiting for a few more years till Ira retires. I do realize that neither are certified but I personally would make this exception and would be able to give time for Jacob to get certified. I believe Ira has earned it.
  12. They are waiting on Coach Mike Krzyzewski and Coach Roy Williams to fly down for interviews. Then they will be finished.
  13. Some fans won't because they are fanatics and don't have logic and reason. It's been a very long time since Silsbee has been down (meaning struggling to make playoffs). Been a historical run for Silsbee these last 20+ years. Next year and year after will be the time to get your licks in on Silsbee. But Silsbee has too much talent in their gyms to be down long. I like you using the word "realistic" because this run has been unrealistic to many many teams. A fan base can definitely get spoiled from these kind of runs. I really think this hire is the key to continue Silsbee's rarified success.
  14. I got them finishing 2nd behind BC. Silsbee losing Jones along with Rice, Boulwen, Shoulders and Gaines who have graduated, along with a HOF coach in Joe Sigler retiring, will set the Tigers back a bit. But not so much to have them missing playoffs. I believe Silsbee JV won district and the varsity has 7 returners (1 starter) Getting the right fit for coach will be very instrumental in the success for next season.
  15. It's two months (62 games) till the All-Star break and they are only 3 games back of 1st. They have improved their team batting average from .203 to .243 (7th in AL) in the last 3 weeks while having the 3rd best team ERA (3.31) in the AL. The bats continue to improve and the pitching stays this consistent, the wins will come. I still stick to my prediction of 1st by the break with these improvements.
  16. I 100% agree. Coach Thomas did an excellent job but so did Coach Green. BU was so much more younger than WB. Wasn't even close in that regard.
  17. I don't know what folks you are talking about but I had West Brook winning district and United finishing 3rd in my preseason picks. Also, TABC had West Brook winning district
