It depends on where you work and what reporting requirements they have. Is it a “complaint” or just a use of force. Our current use of force (called response to resistance) is documented any time we use any force other than just the suspect submitting to being handcuffed. If that was in place when I first started (36+ years ago), I would have had a use of force almost every week and sometimes more than one a night. Or are try taking about an actual complaint like a person or officer actually filed an excessive force complaint. I have been involved in more than one shooting incident and been to the hospital multiple times in the line of duty and think I have had one complaint that I used to much force. Strangely, in that case I used no force but made what I thought was a reasonable threat. His complaint was roughly, the officer told me that if I tried to hurt him (me), he was going to hurt me worse. Yes, that was the actual complaint... kind of cleaned up for language. So in this case, that is a lot of outside complaints if it is for improper force. It doesn’t mean that he didn’t use lawful force but it would beat looking into.

It appeared some of you were really excited the Hennipan County Medical Examiner’s preliminary findings seemed to support a cause of death other than the officer’s excessive force. What many of you probably don’t know is often times a county coroner is not even a medical doctor. What I can tell you is this - doctor or not, whatever hump is the medical examiner in this Minnesota county, his qualifications and expertise will assuredly pale in comparison to Dr. Michael Baden, one of the independent ME’s in this case. He is one of, if not THE most respected in the world in this field. Sorry if anyone’s bubble was bursted.

I watched him tell obvious lies on national television. His conclusion was, it can’t be determined. Well... yes it can and was. Baden said that from the angle of the bullets it could have happened 3 direct ways. That is true.... if you ignore the rest of the scene. To not tell the entire story in order to stir up controversy is a lie. Baden lied.

Yes I am. She was one of the greatest humans I’ve ever known. Shoe could have taught you humility among other things. Hell, even your handle is an attempt to let us all know who you are.

He’s a hired expert but to say he will just say whatever you want him to say? Some would say the same thing about cops and prosecutors. I wouldn’t. Bottom line: you guys take the hump County ME and I will take Baden. I like my chances in court. A LOT.

If I’m not mistaken, they’re digging a trough for a makeshift potty until they can get enough time to build proper restrooms. It’ll be akin to a litter box but for people. They’ll even leave some loose dirt for the potty-goers to cover their waste. Pretty efficient if you ask me. Cheap too! Perhaps I’ve been wrong this whole time. (Sorry folks...literally could not help myself.)

I’m sorry sweetie, (OIA) Office of Internal Affairs, (OIG) Office Of Inspector General. I almost forgot I was speaking to a boilermaker. Way above my pay grade. 🙂

Does that mean that since there were no repercussions from the OIA or the OIG that they weren’t really like OMG cases?

  16. A mask alone is not enough to protect you if you come in contact with someone who is positive. It's my belief that it has somewhat slowed the spread. Now we are talking about the difference between turtle and and a snails pace. Keep wearing them if you are at high risk. What does it hurt? Wearing a condom isn't 100% safe either, but some people still use them.

Both cases were cleared by OIA. The cases never made it to OIG. No psychological assessment or any form of retaining.

No doubt the media has an agenda when it comes to these cases. I’m simply taking this case and looking at it by itself. That others use these cases as an opportunity to divide and riot is pathetic.

In my department, if you do anything outside the scope of your duties you will be terminated . The Government WILL NOT represent you. If you stay with in the scope of your duties the agency WILL defend you. All complaints will be investigated. I have been placed under investigation twice in my career. I was cleared because I never went outside the scope of my job description. People will complain when you are by the book. A small fraction of officers believe that if people don’t complain, you are not doing your job. It all goes back to training, accountability and integrity. 17 is excessive in my opinion especially if the complaints are consistent. We will never know until the trial.

Worked at a school a few years ago where they started working on a turf project the day after graduation. Graduation was the last week of May. We played our first game on the field in late August. Even held a scrimmage on the turf. IT CAN EASILY BE DONE!!!!!
