And come out at full strength. Last year, LP came into this game missing 6 defensive starters. It took almost half the year to get them all back. Let’s just make sure everyone comes out of this game healthy. I know a lot of it is just luck. But, we can hope for the best.

That is true now but we have lost a few kids to y'all during the last several years and with good reason. I considered moving there myself when my boys were playing. I don't see GCM ever dropping back to 5A because that's where all the growth is. If anything I'd like to see GCCISD revert back to previous school lines and give GCM more kids so they have a better chance to compete. Then possibly move kids away from Sterling and towards Lee to keep Sterling 5AD1 and eventually bring Lee up to 5AD1 so we at least have 2 schools in the same district. Better it be the old Baytown rivalry.

Pregame usually starts at 6:30 p.m. They're allowing TexanLive to broadcast some games this year as well. But, the coverage is from the press viewing deck with minimal graphics, etc., and--of course--you have to have a subscription. LPSportsNET is always free, covers every home game, and has all the graphics, replays, etc. They are still learning some of the technical stuff with the new stadium. But, it's getting back to their top-notch quality pretty quick. The students do a great job putting everything together and filming, etc., and the brother broadcasters are good. Yes, they do get excited for LP sometimes. But, that's to be expected as alums at a high school football game. They're good at pointing out the opposing teams' good plays/players as well.

Was about to ask about this. There are some really good games this week around the state. This is one of them.

Better 1/2 went to high school with Tim Brown at Woodrow, and she's an Aggie. She's always had a love/hate relationship when this game comes on because she still remembers when he & ND got pummeled in '88, but he scored a TD. They were apparently friends.

Just my opinion, but it seems that LP is very close to picking up right where they left off at the end of last season. An observation based solely on the scores so far and the few clips I've seen. Tackling either of the RBs typically includes dealing with some well executed stiff-arms, just like last season. I agree with your earlier comments about the Klein RB. I don't know what was going on but he wasn't in the game for much of the 3rd qtr. Maybe he wasn't full speed for some reason, but in any case the Indian D had his number.

My pick for PNG is an unashamed homer pick. I think this is a 50/50 game. La Porte has three big strengths: (1) o-line La Porte’s o-line is elite. They’re playing like PNg’s o-line from last season. PNG’s o-line is just good, but not at La Porte’s level. (2) Simon Simon is going to be a problem, especially if we can’t get a lot of guys around him. (3) consistency This is probably their biggest strength. They aren’t perfect, and they have long stretches of their last two games where they fall off the wagon. But they’re really good at snapping back to executing how they’re supposed to execute. They don’t get rattled. The key for PNG is going to be creating balance on offense — I don’t think we win if we have to win on the ground, but we have to run enough to keep the passing lanes open. I think the most important thing for PnG is for the defense to continue their big step forward from last season. If we can get the defense off the field and get something going offensively, we can make things interesting. overall, I’m less interested in the score (of course I’d want to win) than in how we play. We need a tough preseason game to get us ready for district and the playoffs, and a little humility wouldn’t hurt. If we lose this game but learn things that makes us lethal down the road, I’m thrilled. Still, a win would also be nice.

Always with the negative "ifs" and "maybes". I can counter that. IF the Astros play like they did in June, they MAYBE win the division by 6 or more games.

I have no idea how those accusations from last year didn't amount to anything. It blew up on tik tok. I hate to think it was the name, but it's hard not to think that. Looks like they are throwing the book at him this time. I will say Mr. Boykin, his Grandfather, was a good man. I had the pleasure of several good conversations with him. When he was older, retirement age, and very, very wealthy, he would still work on his tractor clearing land. A true country boy.

Got some in-laws out that way. Apparently a growing area for young families since real estate in Iowa is much more affordable than LC, Moss Bluff, & Westlake.
