One of the greatest college baseball coaches of all time, Wayne Graham, made a statement some time ago that he always recruited multi sport athletes over straight baseball players. Said their mentality, toughness and all around athletic abilities were more important than being a baseball savant. I have always been about playing as many sports as possible, particularly at a young age. This bull about making an 8 year old play only one sport year round is nothing but selfishness from the coach. Plain and simple.

You and your cheerleader from PAM need to get a life. The hair is a rule at BH that has been there forever and has absolutely nothing to do with race. You and the rest of the uninformed can keep getting race baited all you want . BH is what Baytown wish they can be but never will. We will get our coach it’s a process sit and wait. In the mean time try to keep GCISD from imploding we’re doing just fine.

Absolutely true. Everything else comes from that. If you don't have/can't build a program that kids WANT to play for, then it doesn't matter if you're in the bigger building with the better facilities and the newer equipment. If you build a program kids WANT to play for, the wins will come. Here's a couple of examples. My son said that some of his friends at school were talking about the upcoming rezoning, scared to death that they might not get to play for REL. The mom of one of his friends from youth league who is zoned to GCM told me her son started crying when talking to her about how he wanted to play football, so please don't send him to GCM. It doesn't matter how the zones are drawn or what the facilities are like or what the enrollment numbers are if you can't fix that.

Real interesting response. There's been quite a few folks on this forum swearing up and down that Barber's Hill is 100% homegrown, and that Baytown kids don't go there to play. I've shown them the numbers straight from GCCISD but they just refuse to admit it. REL went 6-4 this year, BTW. Guess their talent didn't want to cut their locs. Coach Finn is 37-33 since he got there, they've won at least a few more than they've lost these last few years, so don't lump them in with perennial losers like RSS/GCM. I wouldn't say for sure that players wouldn't follow Abseck, though. I never said anything about anyone following Abseck to Baytown, he's not taking a 50% pay cut to coach GCM, that job wouldn't pay his mortgage. If he were to take an assistant job in one of the programs in 23-6A or 24-6A though? You might see a few folks make a move is all I'm saying You're 100% correct that the real question is why BH hasn't already found anyone for the HFC position since they're so great and have so much money to throw around? Why have they burned through 4 coaches in 12 years?

You have no idea what you are talking about. Stick to GCM and GCCISD. None of those other coaches were also AD's were they? You left that part out.

it wouldnt matter if they were 1 school and they played 4A ball. Lee staff is the only ones who makes kids believe they have a chance.

Kids aint gonna stop coming to BH because any coach goes or stays. DAEP principal will take care of that. You think Baytown kids knew anything about Westerberg or Gage or Abseck before they got to BH? NOPE!!! All they know is BH has great schools and facilities and they win a whole lot more than Lee, Sterling, GCM. Have they hired anyone yet?? Real question you should ask is why is any coach saying no to 200G's???????

Just off the top of my head I would say Hamshire-Fannett, Center, Waco Connally and Houston Yates. Yes, Yates will go DII if Washington and Worthing make the playoffs. Both have larger enrollments than Yates. Current standings for that district: 1. Washington 10-0 2. Yates 8-2 2. Wheatley 8-2 4. Worthing 7-3 5. Furr 5-5 5. Kashmere 5-5 7. Mickey Leland 4-6 8. Northside 2-8 9. North Forest 1-9 10. Scarborough 0-10. For Yates to go DI, Kashmere would have to get in the playoffs and not Worthing or Furr. I don't see that happening.

I didn't know the eastside folks are so racist, and I make occasional NS and CEK games. If thats really the truth, then THEY have bigger problems and anything BH has. Racism is ugly.

Historically, they've been pretty good about it. Even the teacher's tenure average is well over the State average. Last I checked, tenure was over 13 years. Pay isn't bad either. They're well above average on that as well.

In the grand scheme of things, what's really the difference in 50 G's? In a school district like BH where school budgets are in the multiple millions, 50K is a fraction of a fraction. And if it's going to be the difference in enticing a proven successful name, then why not? Especially knowing that BH could end up jumping in class and potentially having a bigger obstacle to overcome because of it. Or.. the school could admit that BH might struggle in football and pinch pennies on 1 of many admin salaries. But then when BH goes somewhere between 3-7 and 5-5 (possibly), the mob will just say that they should've spent money and gotten a "better coach". Double edged sword. It's already not going to help that there's a rumor circulating about the previous coach leaving partly because of issues with the superintendent's kid and playing time. I have no idea if there's any truth to any of that.. even partially. But perception is reality. And the reality is seeming a lot like typical parent issues, exacerbated because of a school employee in a position of power that happens to be a parent. Who in the world would want to jump into that situation? Unless it was financially worth it to them.

Also a chance that Crosby goes with NS group & BH & La Porte go with DP & Pasadena, Baytown schools. First, BH has some repair work to do. They’ve allowed one person to put a stain on their entire ISD & town for a long time.
