I don’t spend much time in on this board but I lurk occasionally. I have seen many discussions about coaches, players, Jimmy and Joes, etc. I think @Reagan will be able to point to Eric Peevey to support his importance of coaching argument. One of the most incredible things I’ve seen in his immediate transformation of that program. Good luck Bears and Stangs tonight. OC over everyone.

I think the dunk count was 1-1. And yes we didn’t have a good first half. Two big parts of that was Madison plays good defense and the fact that we had 4 fouls called on us in the first quarter, 2 on Harris and 2 on Miller. I believe Bottley ended up with 2 in the first half as well. That pretty much handicapped our defense in that half. My hope was that we kept it no more than a 10 point deficit at the half. Which is exactly what it was. We couldn’t get much to fall in that first half either. Now to be honest their was some pretty questionable officiating. I know you always see things in your favor but I did see some both ways. Now I am not going to nit pick the calls because we got the biggest one of the night. We were up 2 with them inbounding the ball with about 9 secs left, and they missed a pretty obvious ball off their players leg on the inbounds that went out of bounds. They got the ball back and got the dunk that tied it. But then we got the biggest foul call on the 3 point attempt by Haynes that probably doesn’t get called most of the time. It was kind of a desperation type 3 pointer where 2 or three of their players were around him. He probably was fouled but that call isn’t made a lot of the time. great gritty come from behind win for these Tigers!!

This is a tough game to pick. On paper, CS beats Carthage & that makes them the favorite, but…….like basketball, sometimes football is about matchups, and that distorts the heck out of this game. The Carthage D is one of the best in the State, but that’s based on defending the spread offense most schools run. They play CS who, at least in that game, was a predominately run offense, which they do very, very well. The Carthage D was out of sync. CS hit them in the soft spot, their one weakness. On the other hand, the Mustangs D has faced quite a few run oriented teams, starting with Vidor in a pre-season scrimmage. They defend it very well. IMO WOS has a much better chance beating CS than they would’ve against Carthage. This should be one durn good football game. I’m pulling for The Stangs, but CS has to be the favorite. More I look at this one, the better WOS chances look. This one, all about the matchup.

Lots of reasons Vidor lost, not the least of which was not having someone mirror the QB. The difference this week is Peevey & Staff. They’ll have a plan to prevent the young QB from running loose. If it works, & I expect it will, LCM wins it comfortably. Full disclosure - for the LCM/Kilgore game I had the O/U points at about 102 and as we know, the final of 45 (24-21) is so far off my prognosticating job is in the toilet (🤪). But…..I got the winner right & that’s what we’re looking for here. Whether LCM wins comfortably or by 1 point in Double OT, a wins a win a win. Go Bears!

Silsbee receives a bye to the 7:30 pm game. They’ll play the winner of Pool 1 2nd place team and Pool 2 3rd Place team. I haven’t received most of the scores from today so far so I’m not sure of the teams.

Looking at the bracket, I’ll tell you who they play after I go back to college for an advanced engineering degree.

I don’t see anyone cussing you out. Everyone has opinions. Everyone has doubted LCM all year we were 1-7 last year turned around to 11-2. Most teams don’t win like that over night. Win or lose it’s been a great season and next year we will even be better

LCM opponents wins and loses. 90-52. Chapel Hill 74-66. If you believe in Calpreps it has LCM winning 28-24. Calpreps has been 3-0 predicting our playoff games! I think it’s going to be a close one!

A fundamental sound team that plays like argyle and play good defense could give United fits Cy Ranch slowed the ball down almost to a crawl United played a team in the playoffs last year besides kimball that gave them fits and it was a low scoring game some team out of Houston.

Agree 100 percent. Silsbee and others are very good teams. But United is at a whole other level.

This is just tournament season. The playoffs & the state tournaments are going to be awesome.

Ok, there is a long way to go this season. But these more than impressive wins are stacking. I really thought this team would make a run this year but was a year or so away from seriously challenging for another ring. I think at a minimum we’ve all been put on notice that they have those intentions this year. Wow.

How good shooting. WB can’t handle the pressure and quick hands. And the biggest factor was the play of J. Williams down low!

He is talented but also has so much personal baggage I am not sure he will ever truly succeed to his potential.

Reading is fundamental

All I’m saying is big J showed up big time for 3 years, so many times I watched him step it up and make game changing plays when we needed it. He kept us in the game or set us up for success and he usually saved his best work for late game crucial situations. An impact player, if only they could have figured out how to integrate him into the offense better. In the other kids defense, it’s not really a fair comparison just yet. He could come out, be unblockable and set the world on fire next season. I hope he does… just not when they play the Pirates lol.

I’d say, although some may not like it. Big kid on the defensive line at LCM good player, has a lot of nice offers. Doesn’t effect the game nearly as much as JS, I’ve watched a lot of their games. He didn’t pop to me, not as much as I expected. He does have a ton of potential, is younger and has more size though. Good prospect, don’t mean to downtown kid but production matters to me. I’m sure he has great stats I’m just saying the handful of games I watched, it wasn’t close. Especially in the head to head matchup, big 99 had a major role in that game.

I guess you can be thankful it’s a freebie cuz you blew it…lol

I think so much of the anger towards Baldwin had to do with his political affiliations. I also remember glee from the left when VP Cheney peppered his friend on a bird hunt. You have to admit that somebody who actively wants gun rights restricted, but then makes themselves rich by PRETENDING to use guns, then does something hare-brained like pointing an "unloaded" gun at a group of people and pulling the trigger while not even filming is kinda ironic/karmic. EVERYBODY gets taught "don't ever point a gun at somebody.... even if it's unloaded." Also, there is a substantial difference between a misfire/accidental discharge like in the hunter's case and pointing a gun at somebody and pulling the trigger. Or at least that's my understanding of what happened. But I agree... reactions are 100% political and hypocritical.

6-2/270/4.9 40/4.2 shuttle/squats 640 plus. He’s definitely has D1 talent, possibly Power 5. If he doesn’t have D1 offers it’s probably because he hasn’t been marketed correctly or doesn’t have the right relationships

I can't tell you how many times watching the first few plays of a game with Vidor's first series on defense and they try to block him one on one and he's driving kids 5-7 yards trying to put them back on the bus.😂
