Wrong. HD turned in 155 which is what the UIL has them down for in realignment. Cutoff to drop to 1A is 104. [Hidden Content] Also, Hardin enrollment is 367. 4A cutoff is 515. Talk about your exaggerations. But that is pretty normal with you.

Both coaches agreed that it was not enough game played to determine a winner which is why it was ruled a no contest. There were no crying. Both coaches were quick to agree. My info came straight from both coaches.

It was 4th and 9 for Jasper and they were going to punt. Silsbee was about to get the ball back with good field position, three plus minutes on the clock, and having scored touchdowns on their last two possessions. It would have been a safe bet.

Both defenses are playing tough. Huffman offense had a couple false starts and defense had at least 5 offsides that half. still in it but the offense needs to score. Starting RB is out so it’s gonna be tough. And Needville D-Line is big. The HH O-line ain’t backing down but they are giving up a lot of bacon across the line. They gotta keep scrapping.

I got to Lumberton at the end of the 3rd quarter with Coldspring up 20-17. Trojans scored early in 4th to go up 27-17 but Lumberton answered right back with a score and two point conversion to make it 27-25. Was about 7 minutes left in game at this time. CS drove down to Lumberton 3 yard line but was stopped on downs with around 2;30 left in game. (not sure why CS decided to go for it on 4th down instead of kicking FG to force Lumberton to score TD). Raiders had only 1 timeout left and needed to get to at least the Trojan 25 yard line for a game winning FG attempt. Lumberton picked up a first down but then took a terrible sack which forced them to use their final timeout. 3 incompletions later the Trojans took over on downs and kneeled the clock out. From the one quarter I watched, I was surprised a bit with Coldspring. They are better than I thought they would be. But, I also thought Lumberton wasn't defending the double wing offense like they should. To be successful the defensive line really have to sacrifice themselves and take out the oline by diving thru the gaps and allowing the linebackers to make the plays, disrupting the blocking schemes. Also you have to take some gambles with run blitzes at times to get penetration in the backfield to disrupt the timing of the play. I really didn't see any of that from the Raider defense in the 4th. Coldspring did a very good job carrying out their fakes and staying with their blocks and the backs showed good discipline in waiting on the blocks. #20 for CS is a hoss!! Going to keep my eye on this young man. Lumberton's offense does look potent. Boykin is definitely a dual threat QB. Be interesting to see how they do against a team that has more pass pressure. Coldspring played more coverage than putting pressure on QB. Glad I got to watch 1 quarter of football last night.

Ruled a no contest. Talk about the game itself which IMO Jasper looked to be the better team. But the result is a no contest. Have to wait till next year.

Rocky start to the year but that’s normal for silsbee. Seems like coach smith has his hands full with some mental mistakes being made tonight and poor tackling. but, one thing I’ve learned from following silsbee football for the past few years is don’t bet against coach smith. He’s proven himself for sure the last two years. It does seem as if the tigers are missing that one or two superstar player that they usually have that could go off at any time. I’m sure as time goes on one will emerge though. It was nice to finally get to see some football; or at least half a game!

From my understanding of the rules, the game is ruled a no contest. Have to play a complete half and coaches have to agree on the result. I have been told by two different officials (neither from Jasper or Silsbee) one says it's a game, Jasper win, the other says it should be a no contest. Will try to get official word tomorrow.

Hardin should win just based on numbers. They’re 3 divisions higher (3A-D1 vs 2A-D2) but I think it’ll be a competitive game. Hardin’s line will most likely control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball but HD surprisingly has some really solid young skill players. If all those freshmen grew up over the past year they have a good shot at surprising people (still think they’re a year or two away from making some noise in the D2 playoffs). Whether you agree or disagree with the reaction to Covid-19 doesn't matter.. masks and social distancing is the reaction that we have to deal with or they will shut things down. I with some of y'all.. i believe your right... this may have been blown out of proportion by the media... this is a extremely political virus.... wearing a mask sucks and really does help that much unless you wear a N95 mask.... the Flu is worse on these kids than Covid-19... But the way I feel does not matter when it comes to the kids. The reaction is if the virus spreads they will shut down athletics/school and that would be devastating to these kids.... if you dont believe me ask the baseball SR's and parents last year.. looking into their eyes and having to telling them that everything they worked for 4 years, that they would not get the chance to compete for their goal... It was one of the most painful things I had to do in my life and I DO NOT WANT TO DO IT AGAIN... UIL has already been in contact with districts that showed they were not following the guidelines.. which means if we all dont obey the guideline they will shut it down. So I will do the things needed to make sure they have the chance to compete.. I will wear a tutu if it that was a reaction to Covid-19 for these kids. I will continue to wear my mask for 12-14 hours a day even though I hate it. I will social distance as much as possible. I will ride kids and parents about the dangers on not social distancing. I hope everyone takes as much precautions as they can.. So please, even if you do not take precautions for yourself please do it for these kids.

No, SP canceled what was supposed to be Colmesneil's Week 2 game back on August 22nd which Laura had not even entered the Gulf yet and was still slated to hit Florida.
