As I examined this game.and I truly understand why most ppl are taking Nederland.for one ppl looks at last yr and the struggle w.o had out the gate.and bcz of w.o offense isn't where ppl would want them to be.but if they examined this year w.o team.the strength are there offensive/defensive line.and there LB.and I thought Nederland backs done a great job last year.but the difference is this year w.o kids are better equipped for there assignments on defense.and I really don't see Nederland having an offense line that could dominate w.o. sure Nederland will compete a few passes.but at the end of the day 24-10.gales will have a big game.

Congratulations to Coach Carter on his 1st win as a head coach and as a Patriot. I guess GCM should have won 14-7 since 72-7 is not impressive enough. Beat a bad team the way they should have. I guess New Caney says the same thing. I bet Humble ISD does not apologize for beating up on those teams to make the playoffs. Put GCCISD in the Pasadena district and let us print up some t-shirts. Ok. Time to move forward.

Going off what I saw during the spring game, maybe not. Am excited to see what RJ can do. Think this chance at RB would help him gain some valuable experience. Don’t know why everyone thinks this is the end of his QB career at Texas though. It’s not like the QB never carriers the ball in their offense.

All the talent that was "lost last year" was usually cheering from the sidelines by the end of the 1st Qtr in 2018 t(well into the playoffs.) The freshmen and sophomores played more in 2018 than the "stars" until deep in the run. This is one of the reasons why they are ALWAYS a great Texas football team. These kids will be the next group of talent.....and so on and so forth.

Agreed. Take Duncanville last year, the 6A champ. Not only did they get (legally) Micah Peavy when they hired his dad as coach (which has long been a potential benefit when hiring a coach whose kid is a stud) but they pick up Jahmius Ramsey (now at Texas Tech) after the school year started. In fact, if I’m not mistaken, Duncanville was the third school Ramsey was enrolled in last year, and the one at which he settled. You aren’t off calling them super teams. And despite having similar enrollments, you can’t compete when teams are forming with the talent base of a Houston or DFW.

Vidor took the lead with 2 min left 32-27 but lost on the last play of the game, short touchdown pass 33-32 final. Tough way to lose but we made way too many mistakes to deserve the win. Lots of big plays from Montgomery, mainly WR85. First downs were probably 25-10 in Vidors favor but we didn’t finish a couple of drives. Also missed an extra point and a couple of 2 point conversions. But we got out of there without any major injuries so it’s on to the bye week and then two games we should have a good chance to win before district play begins.

A wins a win, this regime didn’t schedule these opponents, all they can do is play the people on the schedule, no sense in taking away from a victory, that they haven’t seen too many of Recently, and the “not” comment you adddd to the end...come on bro that’s so played out, let the boys enjoy the W

I think it’s way too early to be talking bout the team to beat. I definitely agree that Duncanville is one of if not the best team in 6A, but 6A D1 is just so dang serious! I mean serious!

I don’t think NS was prepared for that Hoff kid. To put up over 200yds on NS is amazing.

Just got back, great game big crowd. Actually if Katy hadn’t mistackled on the two big north shore plays, hitch td from 85 out-2missed tackles at point of catch and kickoff return by north shore on pooch kick with several missed tackles on athletic run, the tigers would have won by 17 or so. Katy’s offensive line would challenge the bill o brian Texan offensive line right now. Their defensive line also dominated especially in the second half. The grind it out old school offense with play action passes will go undefeated again until November in reliant when they meet up with North shore again. Katy will get better as the season goes, but to only a certain percent. They were better organized, more discipline, and in better shape than a much younger north shore squad. now north shore showed , what I thought , a great ,deep defense. In the first half alone Katy’s offensive line forced 3 def lineman to leave the game and not return. So the second half was played with a majority back up d lineman. Even though Katy controlled the second half, north shore defense kept them out of the end zone in a bend but don’t break effort. North shore defense has the potential to be as good as last years. Their offense needs experience in the o line and tonight will serve as a big teaching tool for coach Kay and staff. They need their injured stud receiver back. The offense like the d will improve. Unless major injuries inflict these two teams, their rematch in November will be epic. But as an old coach said, it’s a long season. But what a great way to open it up for the whole country to see this marvelous spectacle called Texas high school football.

They had a whole halftime to hydrate more. They sure looked hydrated up 21-7. Katy adjustments were phenomenal in the 2nd half.

Same feeling i have always had....small town schools really shouldnt have to face these big city schools. We proved it can be done at times but really isnt an even playing field overall.

Canadian did a great job against that play. Though, a great team like Canadian knew that Newton had a horrible passing game if #8 was not on the field. Therefore, they were able to focus on the run. It's hard to win championships without having a solid passing game to mix in with the run. That is what I think Newton may have difficult with this year. Excited to see what is to come.

Newton 54 Kirbyville 7 Newton is actually pretty loaded this year. They have darn good players everywhere. They just don't have the "big 3" like the past two seasons. Now, the boys that were overshadowed from the the "big 3" will finally have their chance and it will show. They have some good ones. I just hope Newton shares the ball with all the athletes and keep Coach Neece's mentality.
