I’m so happy for him because he missed a few in the Nederland game (could have won the game for us) and the WB. Can definitely tell he’s a soccer player. One of my favorite students I had when I was subbing when he was in middle school.

I've been worried about LP's D ever since the previous DC left for Shadow Creek. I know the new DC is probably very good. But, this is the most porous LP D I've seen in a few years. Even when they are in position, they seem to have forgotten how to properly wrap up and tackle. Part of that is the opponents they've played as they're all well above average teams. But, if LP doesn't get these issues cleaned up for district, they may be looking at a trip away in the first round. They need this off week to regroup and focus on fundamentals again. I haven't seen any real improvement since Week 1. I think it will be good for them to also have some time without all the press. Press has been crawling all over since before the first game. Not sure how much of a distraction it has been. But, I can't think it would be helpful. Friendswood always plays LP tough, and they look like they are definitely a better squad than last year from the scores I've seen. Really tough game coming up. Hoping this loss will help them refocus, and start fixing some of the issues these good opponents have revealed.

When you have numerous false starts, some indecisiveness on run lanes, and couple dropped passes. Sure, they won a game that should have been won but that doesn’t mean execution has to suffer. We have all seen a less talented team win due to poorly football disciplined team. (Silsbee has seen that a few times over the past 15 years when a similarly talented team has rolled into town. Talent doesn’t always win out.). The team has played well thus far. Lots of 2 way starters. Attrition will creep up when playing deeper teams. So far the coaches have prepared the kids. Kids are feeling good and that’s half the battle. Keep digging boys take it week to week. You’re doing good.

I give Lumberton credit for playing a good game. Most of credit goes to their fg kicker. Strong leg. That field goal on 4th down hit the bottom bar and bounced thru. It was 44 yards. Congrats on a win that been about 15 years in the making

It's been 3 years and 3 games. I still think the jury is out. What if the Stangs win out and win district and make a deep run? I am willing to give him this season before making any kind of comment on right or wrong. But I am not as invested as Mustang fans so I completely understand the criticism. Particularly the hiring process.

That school they played isn't like they were playing Bryant, Greenwood, Shiloh Christian or even Little Rock Parkview of previous seasons. Southwest would probably have issues with Newton, they are bad.

Silsbee wanted to go outside for the hire. Both Silsbee OC (Mackey) and DC (Hickman) put in for the HC. Silsbee didn't want to hire one and not the other. I think they made the best hire.

The statement was they hired a Dline coach with no head coach experience and no one should expect that to work. I stated that Silsbee hired an Oline coach with no head coach experience and it is working out just fine. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't but Silsbee is one of the situations that disproves that it never works.
