He's playing in a different Division. Similar to LP's players going to 6A teams. Might be different if he was transferring to another D2 team.

District 9-5A D1 Thread 2026/2027
OlDawg replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in High School Football
Not sure what to expect from LP this year. They could be 2024--but more balanced. I understand they'll be using more pro sets to take advantage of Wells' dual threat capabilities. I assume they'll also bring up the young Soph RB to complement Simon. If he can produce at the varsity level like he has at the lower levels, LP could be really dangerous with both RB's, a dual threat QB, a Pitt commit at TE, a D1 WR in Smith, and some very solid slot players. They also have a kicker again who is D1 material. I hope the D is improved, and they've learned their lessons about closing out ballgames. I know they're PO'd and hungry after being embarrassed in the PO's last year. Losing a D1 Edge player will definitely hurt. But, I'm being told there's a kid that has a different style, but is actually just as disruptive in his own way. More like a Kendzior--who went to Air Force. We'll see. Like others have said, not much time to fine tune before the real games begin. Experienced teams with some talent and experienced QB's will probably have the edge. Dropping an early ballgame or two may be all it takes to get bumped out of the PO picture with the balance in this district. -

At this point, I don’t know a lot about this district, but I’ll take a stab on how I think the top 4 will look. 1. La Porte 2. Beaumont United 3. Lufkin 4. Port Arthur I think BU finally beats PA this year. -

Thursday scrimm with Barbe will be a better test for the Defense. Barbe scored 45/gm last year and is bringing back Qb,Rb, and Wr1 -
JV Scored early on then late again, Varsity put up 1 or 2, I left before varsity was over.

Not sure of the names. One of them is the transfer from Lumberton who had to play JV last year. -

Buna played decent against Beaumont Kelly. I think we scored 3 to their 1. Defense played well, some 2's in the secondary busted a coverage in the second round of defense on the last play to give up the score. Offense moved the ball well using multiple backs. Next week vs HJ will be a much tougher task and give us a better idea of where we are. -

It doesn’t take a scrimmage vs Kirbyville for me to go out on a limb and tell you that Newton might very well win state 🤣 -

The ball hit in front of the plate and the 3rd based umpire judged that the ball passes over rhe bag thus making it a fair ball. Where it lands after passing the bag dies not matter. The following is the wording you would find in the MLB rule book. Batted balls that first contact the field between home plate and first or third base are considered fair if they subsequently bounce over or directly contact either base, or otherwise pass either base while in fair territory. Was pleased to see the score and highlights this morning! -

Saw this report on Newton vs. Kirbyville. Gonna go out on a limb and say Newton will be the best team in the area this year other than WO-S. In the scrimmage the Eagles scored 5 times through the air and twice on the ground while also causing multiple turnovers on defense. The teams then played a quarter of game situation where Newton had two pick sixes and wound up scoring 30 to Kirbyville's 0. -
Arlington loses. Houston now leads by 3.
