LC-M/WOS Game Canceled

Then why don't they play, Casual?  You seem to know a lot....why the cancellation?

BTW...I think the off-season is the opportunity to work on little things that each opponent does.  If the off-season is not utilized in that way, then perhaps someone needs to rethink how their off-season is run.  I'm not pointing the finger at any one school in partiular....just making a general comment to say that I think WOS has worked on the little things.  I could be wrong.....

another way of looking at it is it DON'T count..its not a district game so why wouldnt you want to play..

it wont count against you going to the playoffs so look at it like a scrimmage..

Get some type of work in..even if you dont want to call it a game ,call it a scrimmage ,call it what you want....what can it hurt??

and still no one has answered my question...if other schools can make it happen why cant this game be played?

Think about it if you were the LC-M head coach and your record was 8 and 20 over the last 3 years and you wanted to leave, wouldn't you do anything to avoid another loss on your record. He is having a hard time getting a job, I heard that he applied for about 30 jobs this past summer and got turned down for even a JV head coaching job. He is trying to salvage his record so maybe some sucker will hire him next year. Unfortunately to avoid more losses he should hope for a hurricane every week. It is sad that the kids have worked their but off for this man and he doesn't have enough confidence in them to let them play and see what happens.

You should stop posting rumors! Why should he play on two days of prep? Let the team move on to BC and you give the smack on Moody a rest! Or better yet, send in your resume in for head coach and lets see what you've got.

Give it a couple of years and I will be putting in my resume.  I can guarantee that!

One more thing bigswitch, with an avatar like that, you should show alittle more class, you know, like the man in the picture did!

The man in the picture had a great deal of class, just because I state my opinion doesn't mean I don't have class.  I bet he would not have backed out of a game.

Under UIL rules, in order for a scheduled game to be cancelled, both teams must agree to the cancellation. if only one agrees and the other wants to play, the game is reported as a "forfeit" by the team who backed out. the score is reported as a 1-0 loss on their record.

those are the rules.

apparently, coach hooks agreed on the cancellation, because if he wanted to play that bad, he wouldn't have agreed to cancel and the result would be "forfeit, WOS:1 LCM: 0" obviously, this didn't happen as the game is marked as "cancelled"

That should end this discussion.

They did not play a game last week.  Of course, they have been working on WOS.  They had coaches at WOS game last week.  They have had two weeks to prepare for WOS.  WOS had to prepare for Nederland and even play them.  The upper hand is with LCM as far as preparation is concerned.  Who did they scrimmage last week?  Baytown Lee?  Aren't they a spread team?  That even furthermore tells me that they were trying to get ready for WOS.  They were trying to get a taste of the spread offense a week early.  Lastly, Noone prepares for a scrimmage.  That would be a waste of time to do.  We can   come up with every excuse in the book; but everyone knows the real deal.  It might not be the players; it might not be the community; it definitely was not the storm. What other reason is there?  TODD MOODY.  The only reason that this game is not being played.  All this is doing is hurting the LCM Bears Football Players as well as the WOS Mustang Football Players.  I am sorry for the seniors that have to endure this.  You kids do not deserve one person messing up something that has been a tradition around here for YEARS!!!!!!!!!  I am truly sorry.

Look, casual, he's had all summer to prepare for the WOS/LCM game since it is his FIRST game!  That two day prep is not cutting it with some of us!!!!

No, you look. No coach preps for the 1st game all fall camp, you work on it the first week or so. GET REAL!, they prep for two scrimages before they even thought about WOS.

Why would we prep for them all fall? This isn't our first game!

Oh, I see now.  The scrimmages were much more important than the regular season game, right?  Baloney!  YOU get real!  LCM plays WOS harder than they play any other school.  I've heard it said from MANY people...."If we only win ONE game this year, I hope it's against WOS".  Don't tell me they don't prepare for WOS!!!!

So WOS has been preping for LCM all fall? Just let it go, it's over.

I agree, good post. I feel for the Seniors who are losing the chance to play a game.

I think it also says unless it is a weather related incident, then one coach can cancel

well i don't know if it says that.

but as of now, it's not a weather-related problem.

i mean the weather itself is acceptable.

i don't know why, but THEY somehow agreed that the game isn't happening.

if hooks wanted to play, he could refuse to agree to cancel the game.

in that case, LCM would either forfeit or play. neither of those 2 things are happening, therefore a cancellation was declared by BOTH coaches.

a whole bunch of teams cancelled their games scheduled for this week, i know central and westbrook did as well as many others. i mean for the game to be played they have to coordinate things with the officials, band, drill team, cheerleaders, volunteers, etc. it's just alot to do when people are going through the ordeal of moving back into their houses or having trouble getting home. we'd all love to see the game played, and i know coach moody wants to play it, otherwise he wouldn't schedule it. it's just not going to happen.

This Cancellation Reeks of "Moody", I know for a fact everyone of those kids wants to play. This Game is believe it or not one of the Biggest games of the season for LCM in the eyes of the kids !  Not letting them play is a bad call on Coach Moody's Part.  Guess I'll have to go watch another game this weekend !

Look Sneakysnake...it's obvious by the number of posts you have made that you were sent here to quell the rumors and/or comments that fans are making.  We understand that.  But to try to give us some lame excuses is just pointless.  NOONE needs the band, drill team, or even FANS to play a football game.  I will agree that refs are needed (somewhat...lol), but the refs are set for the game and I'm sure they are disappointed to hear that their game got cancelled because LCM didn't feel like playing it, whatever the reason you may try to say it is!
