Keep in mind that the temperature and heat index are not the same thing. I have seen the temp at 95-98 and the WBGT well below the danger zone of 92. Yesterday the WBGT got up to 88.5.

I think it also depends on your location.

WBGT can be different in Orange Texas than in San Augustine Texas.

Not much. Generally the same climate less some of the gulf breeze and a little bit hotter inland.

Correct but SA being 2 hours north can make all the difference. All is needed is a point or two from practicing to not practicing.

At this very minute (12:50): WBGT 86.0 in Orange, 87.5 in San Augustine.

My current data shows 90-94 range.

Point is that a few degrees up or down can change the preparation for teams in the same area. Will it change things Friday Night? Not much. Keep the kids safe seems to be the best option

The current actual temperature in Orange is 94. WBGT is still at 86.0 as of 1:09.

PNG has moved all practices to before school for now.  5:40am start.  
 

I’ve heard some others are going 5-7:30pm

I hate too see how many cramps and possible injuries are going to happen those 1st few games because of the new rules. Most players will not be in shape if they don’t have in door facilities. Teams that are moving practice times certainly have the right idea. If the temperature only allows you to work out in shorts with conditioning on hot days and getting to workout only an hour will be brutal on those teams the 1st few games. You will probably see a ton of mistakes also especially penalties

I am shocked at some of the programs that have upended their entire process without understanding the actual impact.

There is always a way around things. These rich districts will probably buy bubbles  to practice in. So how do u make fair if one team has such facilities s ones that don’t and can’t practice

There is no team that "cant practice". Worst case scenario is to start practice at 4:00-4:30.
