Glad you brought this up. What is everyone's thoughts? I heard several coaches really upset about these new "mandatory" UIL  guidelines in regards to the Wet Bulb. According to the guidelines there's a very good possibility that athletes will not be able to wear any protective gear in practice or even practice at all outside after about 12 with this Texas heat. I know there are schools in with indoor practice facilities, but most schools especially smaller classifications don't. Many, I heard have adjusted to early morning practices to help, but athletes don't play games at 6am in the morning. The biggest issue is students may not be able to practice one day, but can participate in a full game the next day. So ultimately who's response for the safety of the school when coaches are not allowed to acclimate them in the afternoons? Makes no sense that a kid cant practice outside, play can have a competition when the temperature could even be hotter.

The highest I have seen it get so far is 90.0 WBGT. Started dropping to 88.7 around 4:30.

I’m not an every kid gets a trophy guy but I’m not sure how the safety of high school kids and an every one gets a trophy correlate.

The same people who gave every kid a trophy are the same people who don't think the kids can exercise outside.

Just let them stay inside and play Sega football against each other.

Rest when you need to and plenty of water would be a better option.

Problem is, some kids don't want to look "weak" by needing to sit down and cool off for a few minutes. 

Coaches would have to mandate things to an extent.
