Guest ECBucFan
. Blanco's defense has averaged giving up only 42 yds/game in the playoffs, which is lower than their 14-game average of 49 yds/game. First, welcome to the forum. FWIW, Blanco will give up more than 42 yards...on Newtons first drive.
GoBlanco
Newton didn't put 52 on Rogers, who was in Blanco's district the past 2 years. Saw the film. Blanco's defense is considerably better than Rogers. If you had expert knowledge, you might know that. We do because we faced them.
longball24
Newton needs to stay focused in this game. look at the past history for east texas vs west texas or central texas. We have not won many of the match ups, even with more talent. The attitude and program history is different. People dont accept failure on the west side of interstate 45. Newton should win they have the athletes. The difference is coaching at this point.Good Luck.
GATA!
Newton has a great coaching staff, not to mention the 1974 state team head coach was lidney Thompson, you can still find him on our sideline coaching today, we are lucky to have all his knowlage on our sideline"..........I'm also predicting a low score game, Newton-24 Blanco-
GoBlanco
Wow.. that's cool. It is great to have those old timers around, especially what is likely to be some smashmouth football. Blanco's head coach was the DC on our '00 finalist and '01 championship squads. 14 years later, he's still running the defense.
EaglesFootball
Newton will not score 52 points unless Newton returns 5 fumbles for TDs. Newton's run offense is run-oriented. And Blanco will do a good job containing the run. Just watch. Blanco's defense has averaged giving up only 42 yds/game in the playoffs, which is lower than their 14-game average of 49 yds/game. You don't say Newtons run offense is run oriented.. WOW thanks for that great insight there

bsshaver
I've seen 6 Blancos films, 7 Rogers films and 9 Franklins films. In my honest opinion, Franklin's defense is the best of all 3. Franklin, in my opinion, is also just a better team than both. Turnovers can change a game. If Newton does what they have done all year, they should win the game. I won't predict a score because +1 gets you to Dallas. Safe travels and God bless.

GoBlanco
Petty comment. You knew the point. Wasted forum space for English police. "Newton's offense is run-oriented". Congrats. GoBlanco

So, Franklin gives up 4 consecutive TDs and 28 points in the first half, 49 points overall, but has the best defense, when Rogers gives up 13 points at half? Franklin's DEs were small and crashed too hard on all the run plays, giving Newton the edge. But, ok. guess that's how you see it. I don't. He coached me years ago, Brilliant guy , best coach in the area, Hope head coach will rely on his experience. He can help in a pressure situation. Go Newton. BLACK&GOLD
Newton will be hard to beat they have it on both side of the ball. Rogers running back got hurt early in the game would have been closer. We played Blanco the last two years they are a good football team. Newton will be to much. Newton 35 Blanco
Guest MTJ
Which running back are you referring to being hurt, from Rogers?
BLACK&GOLD
Brody hurt his knee but he played the whole game. About 50%
GoBlanco
No doubt #10 being slowed down was a disadvantage, because he carries the ball 80% of the time. But Newton lost one of its top rushers to a knee injury on the first or second series.

wackpack
After watching this, I'm convinced I was wrong about Blanco. I will have to re-think this thoroughly. Ok, I've thought long enough.... I had Newton by 17 I'm convinced by the overall SLOWNESS of Blanco, this game will get out of hand before it even starts. Newton 52 WhiteBoys 19 wow.....
