A young energetic coach will use lumberton as a stepping stone, in and out if hes successful. Just like Haynes did when he was young and energetic and left to go to 5A Clear Lake.

Kind of like BF at PNG. ;)  Don't know until you try.

With all due respect to Coach Haynes, this sure looks like a placeholder-type hire.  Bring in an older, respected guy to right the ship and upgrade things a bit and then try to attract someone in two or three years that will hopefully be a long-term solution.  I'm not criticizing, and that may be what the situation called for, but that is how this looks from the outside.
HUH, so you think he will upgrade the program fix the problems and then the district will fire him for it and get a better coach since their program is sexier, that makes sense.
I never said he would be fired.  He has already retired once.  Realistically how long do you think he is going to stay there.  Three or four wins would be an upgrade over the last couple seasons.  If he can build anything now and get a hold on the outside influences (parents), by the time he retires again it will be a more attractive job than it was this time around.

Now the question is does this affect the possible playoff spot for 20-4A??
Not this year upcoming year.

Seems to me he did good at Hardin.

From looking at those links, this is what I see:
--Highest Avg points scored per game in school history - 39.5 by 2010 Hornets.  This was one of those average years, .500, that a previous poster mentioned.  I bet if you asked the Lumberton football players if they would like to score an avg of 39 pts per game they would say YES.
--In the past 37 years at Hardin, they have had 13 coaches and only 2 have had winning records.  Haynes was one of them.

I say give the man a chance and give him your support and you will probably be happy with the results

Coach Haynes did a decent job in Hardin.  I believe their won/loss record was 29-23 while he was there.  He retired from Hardin due to the school districts budget constraints.  He accepted the incentive offered and moved on.  He and his wife recently built a home in Wildwood so he could possibly hang around for awhile.

Hardin actually made the play offs in Coach Haynes first two years finshing 9-3 in his first season.  His offense led by Myles Taylor put up 520 yards passing in a game against EC.  Unfortunately, due to lack of defense, Hardin lost the game 53-46.  They averaged 39 points a game that year but gave up an average of 41 points a game.  If they have some defense to go along with the offense that he will bring, Lumberton should be ok.

His track record speaks for itself.  Not sure if he has ever coached 5A.

The problem at Lumberton isn't coaching and this change won't help. They got rid of a great coach...he's a Pirate now.

That what I was thinking.. maybe Lumberton doesn't have the talent like they did 3 or 4 years ago

Haynes coached 5A for 9 years after leaving lumberton. During that time, he racked up 5 district championships with 4 of those seasons being undefeated in district.  That kind of success is tough to argue with.

HAHA, what idiots, commenting on the guy who has more wins than any active coach in SETX right now as if he has just got his start in Hardin and hasn't been to the big time.
I think they are talking about his recent track record... not his success earlier...

It looks to me like he is saying his offense wont work at the 4A level, but then you read in a later post that he had 5 district championships and 4 undefeated seasons at the 5A level. It looks like thats exactly what hes saying.
