  2. Great seeing this. Lots of potential at La Porte, those freshman four years ago --like Regis`` are special. That district is tough, but you have a former perennial winner catching fire at the right time. When it is rolling there, the support is incredible because of history. I had a great year there and they are Bulldogs just like Marlin.

Funny that one of the winningest coaches in Texas, Phil Danaher has proven this theory wrong, Refugio anyone, sounds more like an EXCUSE. Always blame kids to protect the coach. I saw it as a player in 70’s and now for 35 years as a coach. Why do we always make keep putting the responsible game on players and not adults, asking for another coaching friend. Guess I am sounding more like 14.2 that is often correct. Speck in another’s eye doesn’t compare to the log in mine.

The clock needs to strike midnight and the magic Covid needs to fade away.  Collective hysteria. Nothing but nonsense everywhere.  We are being conditioned for future acts of tyranny in this country and people are willingly happy to surrender away their freedoms.  The cure is worse than the threat.

I am embarrassed to have taught for over 3 decades and NOT accomplished a goal of having my students as adults able to read and decipher charts and graphs.

  5. Okay so this is my take and no one else. First i am not a republican nor a democrat, i am a Christian and i hate all political parties cause they are like lawyers. Second i am anti Allopathic medicine, Pasteur was a fraud bought out by millionaires and billionaires seeing a good investment. Fear is the entire purpose of this whole pandemic. I am not saying there is not a flu virus by any name, there is. Just like there has been for thousands of years. The masters of fear began with predictions of deaths, followed by a lot of deaths, though many were caused by extreme measures of murderous--i mean political line toting governors who had a hand in over a third of all early deaths while hospitals made off with big $ by claiming wasp sting deaths were actually Covid caused. Once the public caught on it switched after rioting to CASES, CASES--what the heck is a case. Funny how no one has ever explained because the term case is even more ambiguous than the cause of death fiasco. Since no virus can be seen, virologists check often for antibodies produced to serve as evidence for presence OR former presence as some virus experts say that if you had a flu shot the past ten years. There is a test for existence of viruses called Koch's Postulate that is a systematic testing to isolate the virus for proven existence. It was NEVER done for this--some experts were besides themselves, yet their rants were hidden by the media, kinda like the Stanford professor, Noble Prize winner for Chemistry has been CRITICAL of the lockdown and everything dealing with this Corona thing. Google, Facebook, and twitter have basically deleted all of his objections.   THE PURPOSE of my post here is that IF all school districts would test all their football players, band members -all fall participants, there would be a lot of positive results--kids sick--NO, but positive results and everything would shut down. Why because we are reacting out of media driven emotion instead of logical interpretation. The reason Europe is doing so much now is NOT because everyone wore a mask, but because they understand the definition of case AND they do not have an impending election. Could i be wrong, yes, in my 34 years of coaching i have been wrong a lot and i have gotten better cause i corrected my mistakes. I first look at the log in my eye rather than the speck in my players cause i have control over who plays. Sorry for the long rant but i have been off social media and computer since about 3-29-20. I have a little time now in between virtual teaching , so i thought i would visit the old SE Texas football forum before i make my move to southern Montgomery County. Ya'll take care and hopefully we get to play ball.

  6. I agree with cardinal backer. As teachers coaches, the group collectively loves to complain about low pay. I can understand being a teacher coach of 33 years. But I actually feel I was compensated fairly. I was the baby from a farming immigrant family of 7 whose parents had a second  grade education before having to work the cotton fields. We grew up poor, but full because of our farm. When I got my first job at Clear Lake intermediate in 84 for about $14,000, i was in hog heaven and rich. I’ve seen hard work in the oil, chemical and construction fields and better salaries. There is good and bad in everything. If you don’t like it get out. We have a problem not with the $ we make but what we spend and how we let others dictate happiness to us. I believe my only argument about the education profession is the benefits, namely insurance. What a ripoff. Like this big raise teachers got from the state last year, funny how every teachers insurance raised an almost identical amount. ✝️👍🐻

  7. Great answers and explanations. Like I tell all my friends, if you haven’t been in a high school from 4-6A in the past twenty years, and by in a high school , I mean sit in the library or a classroom all day (not feasible for most but more accurate than the five word explanation of school your teenager gives you while focusing on their phone) you’ll be shocked. Again, the school is a reflection of society, so hangout all day at Walmart and watch people and their actions for more shock value. The most disappointing thing is the lack of accountability by students, teachers, administrators, and schools. About ten years or more, schools (where I worked at least) stopped sending kids who would verbally assault teachers to the local judge who would fine the parents ( finally make them be parents by $). The county just said, no, we’re too busy. The really bad ones can really get away with being IDIOTS, yet they’re often untouchable because of their 501 plan.  Kids know exactly what they can get away with ( just like us in the 70’s). There are still great kids, parents, teachers, administrators, and schools, but not as many. But I am excited to get back in it, definitely takes a special (demented maybe😏) to do it.
