How bad will the weather be

Looking at the movement now I believe Friday night will be mostly clear and with WOS having tire piece fields great field conditions. I’m not a weatherman, just took a meteorology course  at Southwest Texas state as part of my Biology degree. Definitely don’t have the looks for tv weather, maybe radio.

  2. Great game on the horizon, was hoping to make it as I think this game could be as entertaining as the one in Manvel. I’m on a goal of seeing as many great area games as possible until I get back into coaching,  but with great tickets to Aggie vs war eagle high school is gonna take a back seat. First, I agree with 14.2 , and believe Crosby could have beaten Manvel with a couple of breaks. I’ve coached and am friends with Manvel coaches and AD. And before the game they were quite convinced that this years Manvel team was their best in several years, good enough to beat Marshal for district. After that I believed Crosby was gonna get their fundio handed to them. I’m not a cougar homer though I coached there for 10 years, but I didn’t want them embarrassed. From what I saw, the new coach is doing very well. They are not the old cocky Crosby team, which I love. Nor are they the team that has to run EVERY pass play on the head coaches card. No reason to get teams pissed at you beforehand. They are more old school. And if the new quarterback plays, move in from GCM and is solid, their offense could really improve. Early in the year I picked Crosby 0-3 to start the season but still making the playoffs. Now seeing district results and the possibility of a good quarterback to go along with the running back, I say Crosby by 7. I have the utmost respect for WOS football and think they could go 3-4 rounds. It will be tough at WOS but they’ll letdown a little, human nature because of Newton game. WOS has tradition and determined coaches and kids ( I coached with Andre Bevil who demonstrated their drive) but Crosby in an upset.

Actually, looking over his past posts, 80-85% of them are about Silsbee, Silsbee coaches or Silsbee JV.

He went to Silsbee JV scrimmage against Vidor, has commented several times about their practices and now has attended one of the JV games.

Yet, he has no ties or nothing personal.

Sounds like about 8 of the ten debate candidates from last night. Did he go to TSU after the Silsbee jv game? Has he written about free Medicare for all?

  4. Yes, 2nd to 4th, too much on this young team to say first, especially in our version of SEC West high school. Again injuries can happen, unforeseen things, but I saw a lot in the cougars in a loss. I think they’ll be a playoff team. I just hope the few, I mean few , fans that are at games don’t leave the boat after non district. I don’t think they’ll beat WOS in orange, but they may still improve, they NEED to improve. Right now coaching wise it is a psychological game, keeping their heads in it and working hard to get into the state playoffs. It is a long season.

  5. Saw the cougars tonight and was impressed. This team is physical and plays with enthusiasm and never quit. Offensively the rb playing qb got bettter throughout the game. He’ll be a lot better come district. If the qb and receivers continue to clean up mistakes Crosby will be in the playoffs. The key is to listen to the new coaching staff and put out maximum effort. We forget the opponent often and compare Crosby teams to the one great year to the semifinals. Manvel is very good, very good. I predict they’ll beat Marshall for district. I also predict , predicted earlier this year, Crosby will begin 0-3 but with good player and coaching leadership the coogs will be 2-4 in district.

  6. Last year Lee got so much better throughout the season. Excellent job of aligning some excellent skill players and maximizing potential, but also of coaching up lesser quality kids to fill out not the team, but about 13 other positions. Really excellent job of coaching up to this point, have their team blasting with CONFIDENCE, a big factor especially with the barbaric district schedule coming. Lee could actually win the district or not make the playoffs based on the parity. Great job Ganders.

  7. Jordan Whittington, Cuero ex and state championship star, is now out 4-6 weeks with torn adductor in groin. Herman said he is going to Philadelphia for the expert surgeon on these injuries. Supposedly had this before. So now Roschon is definitely 2nd and will get playing time under the lights of the Nation. BIG SPOTLIGHT-Hook em.

  8. Picking Nederland by 3 in a great game. I think United is so close to turning it. If they can get a win this week, I believe they’ll get 4th in district. But I did go to Laporte this morning and visited with coaches and some players. There attitude is fantastic with the new coaching regime. Laporte May be a team to look out for. I’ll be going to the game, excited expecting another north shore Katy type like I experienced last Thursday. Come say hi, I’ll be on home side away from band in a green Aggie T-shirt and longhorn hat. Gig em and hook em.

  9. Congratulations Patriots. Great win. Congratulations Coach Carter, Coach Ragsdale and staff. The poster above was right, this new set of coaches had nothing to do with scheduling. There is nothing wrong with putting up big #s as long as players are rotating out, which I’m sure happened. The other team has every opportunity to stop them. You can’t take a knee or let the clock run, this is varsity football. Go Patriots.

  10. Just got back, great game big crowd. Actually if Katy hadn’t mistackled on the two big north shore plays, hitch td from 85 out-2missed tackles at point of catch and kickoff return by north shore on pooch kick with several missed tackles on athletic run, the tigers would have won by 17 or so. Katy’s offensive line would challenge the bill o brian Texan offensive line right now. Their defensive line also dominated especially in the second half. The grind it out old school offense with play action passes will go undefeated again until November in reliant when they meet up with North shore again. Katy will get better as the season goes, but to only a certain percent. They were better organized, more discipline, and in better shape than a much younger north shore squad.

now north shore showed , what I thought , a great ,deep defense. In the first half alone Katy’s offensive line forced 3 def lineman to leave the game and not return. So the second half was played with a majority back up d lineman. Even though Katy controlled the second half, north shore defense kept them out of the end zone in a bend but don’t break effort. North shore defense has the potential to be as good as last years. Their offense needs experience in the o line and tonight will serve as a big teaching tool for coach Kay and staff. They need their injured stud receiver back. The offense like the d will improve.

Unless major injuries inflict these two teams, their rematch in November will be epic. But as an old coach said, it’s a long season. But what a great way to open it up for the whole country to see this marvelous spectacle called Texas high school football.

  11. Gcm by 9. I have faith in Carter and Ragsdale but they just started baking this cake in June. Early games close, Sam Rayburn physical but unathletic. Many turnovers.

  12. Amazing at how poor football wise Cleveland has evolved to . I remember the Indians in 96, we played them in Crosby with future longhorn Ivan Williams and a lot other athletes. I would always watch our opponents get off the bus. Everyone off the Cleveland bus had a white shirt and tie. No Ivan, then about a minute afterwards Ivan steps off with headphones and UT warmups that had UT coaching staff embroidered on it. Treat racehorses like racehorses and plow horses like plow horses. We lost that game 27-24 in a cold rainstorm on a mud field when a blue norther came through in late September. In the 90s Cleveland had some high potential teams. Hopefully the new coach can get them back on track.

  13. I pick Katy in an upset. I believe it will be best for north shore chances for a repeat state championship to lose early to gather a chip on their shoulder for the rest of the season. Coach Kay would use this to push them a little harder to defend their title . This Katy-north shore game isn’t as important as the impending re match in November.

Do SETX contributors sit in a certain place at big games? I plan on going and would love to banter with the men whom I only know by website handle. I’ve been a lurker like most southeast’s Hs football coaches for 15 years and only since retirement last year been posting.
