[/quote]wow...took the words right outta my mouth. that was my exact interpretation of the game. i was a little irate about those two calls and at the time smith was making our kids look pretty bad at the plate. it seemed as if vidor was getting the raw end of the deal on ball and strike calls, but armstrong just wasn't as precise with his pitches. (couldn't get his curve ball up) of course there was some jawing during the 7 run inning from nederland fans, but nothing that i saw that was out of line. btw, i watched the bottom of the 4th while standing between the visitors bleachers as i was working my way out to get my kid home. also, i'm a little confused about the "guy working the clock" comment.

someone needs to update vidor's numbers. i know kerry hester has hit at least one and matt peno has at least two...i believe olbrich has two now also. i don't know the exact numbers, but i'm sure someone on here does.

[/quote]so you're saying they were using the slide step on every pitch with runners on? imo the slide step should only be used occasionally when the chance of stealing is the greatest. it takes too much velocity away to use exclusively. it is a useful tool at times, but i wouldn't use it every pitch. it also usually affects the accuracy. please fill me in.

[/quote]i know the pirates are carrying 3 or 4 talented freshman with the varsity for the scrimmages. the starters didn't play much either. BUT, vidor should have more depth than jasper. those second tier players need to step up. jasper always fields a good team, they just don't usually have the depth due to numbers.
