I just think if your not familiar with the Kelly community and program you shouldnt be talking about it. bmtball, your def right Kelly has a good deal of senior talent, and the incoming freshman are the most talented class to come through since well this years senior class.
This is public forum so I will discuss the "Kelly community" if I please.  My point is that there are kids that play ball at Kelly.  Kids that were counting on their coach to be there, not to drop them in July for a public school assistant job so that he can get his "retirement".  He could've done this earlier, since this has been his plan (according to you), in order for them to have more time to find a suitable replacement.  That is all I am saying.  Seems kind of disloyal to the players who have been loyal to Long.
Coaches leave all over the state of Texas.  Players loyal to Long?....no.  Loyal to Kelly?....sure.  Good for Coach Long.  Best wishes for Kelly. They will find a Coach that will want to "move" there.
Exactly, Kelly players are there playing for Kelly. And discuss Kelly all you want but don't spout off your opinions of what the Kelly community and players think.
i'm pretty sure you "spout off" on anything you want to on this forum as long as it is within the rules of the site.
I agree with Scalp'em about the rules not being followed some of the time during the regular season, while it is the role of the umpire to enforce the rules, I think more involvement from the coaches is needed to teach the kids the rules. Just a few examples -There is NO on deck circle in little league, but how many times do we see not one, but multiple kids out there swinging the bats. -No jewlery is allowed in little league, but I cant count how many times I have had to stop a game while the batter takes off bracelets or necklaces. -dangling throat protectors, and chest protectors with the crotch guard are MANDATORY in little league, but how many times do the catchers come out without them? -No stickers, painting, or drawing is allowed on a batting or catchers helmet that is not produced and/or approved by the manufacturer, and yes this includes writing your childs name on the bat or helmet, -No coaches are allowed outside of the dugout during game play (except base coaches) yet how many times do we look over and they are haniging out the door or ever worse squatted on the fence? Now when umpires call this stuff or bring it to the coaches attention then the umpire is just being uptight, or nitpicky, but in actuallity they are enforcing the rules that you as a coach should be aware of.  I think more responsibility needs to be put on the coaches to be more aware of the rules and this in turn would cause MANY less of these situations
coaches knowing the rules??...that's blaspheme!! :D

 7.
Well to put my 2 cents in... The Umpires are able to give out warnings in these situations and educate the players and coaches, correct. A stern warning to the player and an explanation of why the stern warning would of probably been enough. The kids do need to know that at each level of the LL tourney the Umps will become more strict with all the rules. Since this was a district game, why not warn and educate a 10yr old on how not to behave without a drastic punishment? As for the coach, I also think a warning could of been issued. I mean when does a grown man have to ask permission to go to the bathroom? Only if he is in a chain gang serving time. But if that is a rule by LL it has to be adhered to. So this ump could of warned and educated the coaches that this will not be tolerated in the future. Don't toss a coach for that, toss him for being obnoxious about your strike zone or your bad call on the bases, but really for going to the restroom, c'mon!  ??? I am stressing the educate part because of this umps so called role in education. He needs to apply some of the classroom to the baseball field, is all!
i'm not sure who was behind the plate during this game, but i have a pretty good idea. if it's who i think it was, he made a point of warning both managers before the game about asking permission for anybody leaving the field. in other words, he told them that they would be kicked out if they did it. if a kid throws or slams his helmet down, there is no need for a warning. also, the personal stuff is just wrong.

 9.
Apparently, Little League coaches can now determine "which" rules to enforce and "which" rules will not be enforced and if things don't go their way, it's seems acceptable to call out umpires by name and dig up elementary or high school issues on this thread.  That's unfortunate and uncalled for! Coach, if the LL rule book states "no one shall leave the dugout without permission", then no one leaves the dugout, period!  If a kid throws or slams his helmet, regardless of where it occurs, that rule also has to be enforced or what will be allowed next?  Administering rules as an umpire isn't a situation where one decides what the most popular call will be at the moment.  How about coaches simply respect the rule, quickly ask the umpire and you'll be on your way to the bathroom?  How about coaches teach their players how to channel their "emotion" into hustle and better play rather than the "attitude" you feel is in some way helping this 10 year old.  The comment made "he feels he let his team, coaches, family & city down when he gets out or makes an error" is probably the most unfortunate comment I have seen here.  C'mon! A 10 year old made to feel this much pressure by his team, coaches, family and city is a sad statement on youth sports but that is also evident by the posts here. About the umpire: One of the umpires you so easily criticize happens to be the very umpire that has received some of the highest evaluations at the LL State and Regional Tournaments over several years and has also received a LL World Series assignment!  Why would I mention this? Glad you asked.  THAT is how Little League (Williamsport) wants umpires to enforce rules, regardless of personal feelings, league affiliations, etc.  These umpires do not pick and choose selective rules to enforce or Managers, parents and fans like what I read here decide when it's appropriate to leave the dugout or slam their helmet (in "passion" or violent disregard for the umpires). I truly hope as many of you as possible with travel to Tyler for the LL State Tournament, July 23rd-July 27th to see how a Little League game is handled by umpires and Tournament Directors (no, the onsite DA will NEVER stick his/her head onto the field without a formal protest being made as one of you suggested unless D32 operates differently than the rest of the LL world).  You 'll see how the focus is on the kids and the game and not the adults. PS-I'm not holding onto the thought that umpires do not make mistakes. They (WE) do and it's OK to disagree but when it turns personal, that's unfortunate and that's what you've shown here.
this comment makes WAY to much sense to be posted on this thread. ;D
I heard the reason bennett was leaving was because he received a good offer at kirbyville, but because him and huckaby could not see eye-to-eye, huckaby would not let bennett get kids to practice throughout the season, huckaby fealt that football came first, and would not work with bennett, which is a good coach btw, and the reason we have trawhon is because of recomendation from huckaby, because he will do what he wants. I only hope that the baseball program in OF that Bennett built, and known to be excellent, has not been pushed to the side. As a side note, I do not personally know bennett, I have just been an observer for years, so do not think I am a follower.
i don't know firsthand about the innerworkings of the relationship between the two, but i know orangefield baseball participates in fall and summer baseball along with the regular season. athletes that play multiple sports may miss out on some of the fall scrimmages/summer games, but that is the way it goes at all schools.

 20. they also have juniors (13-14), seniors (15-16), and big league (17-18). these all top out at state also i believe. i don't know of any big league teams in this area though.
 21.
Pence is a good player and just about the lone bright spot for the team, but still not good enough to get much in a trade. I think he is the kind of a player that you keep and add pieces to. Lets face it, the Astros are not good right now, but if you had another starter and anything that resembled a bullpen they would still be competitive. Not saying i am satisfied with the rest of the pieces but you could compete. Wandy, Meyers, Norris & Lyles can compete and Happ does every other start or so, but as soon as they leave the game it is over. The number of blown saves tells tou that if this team had a bullpen things would be a lot different. BRANDON LYON HAS GOT TO GO. Why would you hang on to him?
because we just signed him to a big deal and he's hurt and sucks right now....who would want him?...kinda like lee...you can't give away something that nobody wants.
