1.
Our boys played a 15U Tourn recently . There were several of the top BBCOR bats in the dug out .. All the boys ended up swinging the Rip IT bat .. They all said it had the largest sweet spot and the most pop. I can tell you the sound was closer to the classic aluminum ping .. All the other BBCOR bats sounded more like wood bats. ( which is really the goal of BBCOR). Haven't heard the Rip It is baned for high school play, it has a BBCOR stamp ??
i've been hearing about the rip-it a lot lately. from what i hear, the kids love the sound as you mentioned...sounds like the old bats...even louder. they are reasonably priced too. i read where they were taken off of the approved list, but were put back on. i'm pretty sure they are good to go as of now. thanks for the info. i've heard some bad stuff on the bbcor voodoos from last year...going dead after a while. gonna try to get my son's hands on a rip-it and see. their website says they come with a 30 day money back guarantee i think.
 2. he has personally called me to let me know of some rumors going around some students just to give me a heads up that my kid's name was mentioned. it turned out to be just that but, how many ad's would take the time to call a parent to let him know of this kind of situation. he called my from his cell and finished with...if you EVER have a question or need some help with ANYTHING, just give me a call on this cell. he's a very good guy...good christian guy. he knows that 95% of the kids that play highschool sports don't play at the next level. he helps teach them to be productive men and women outside of sports too. i'm proud my kids participate in athletics at visd. he represents the area well.
 3. i tried this thread on the high school forum...thought i'd try it here too since they had to use them last yr in college. ok...time to buy a new bat...which one is the best? tell me which bat your kids like the best and why...5150, easton surge, marucci, voodoo, rip-it...let's hear some opinions.
 4.
I just love this, Lamar whacks a team in its season opener and the most posts made the week afterward are about 1) a running back who quit the team and 2) that the head coach has it in for one of the QB's competing for the starting job.  I know that it is common place these days to be critical of the guy in charge just for the sake of sounding intelligent.  However, trying to pile on a coach and claim that a decision as to the playing time of one of three QB's will lose fans following a 58-0 victory kind shows that your keyboard is in overdrive when your brain is in neutral.
the good thing is...at least people are talking about lamar football...i think it's awesome. go check out the boards for lsu, alabama, etc... i guarantee there are some heated conversations going on there, with a lot of second guessing the coaches too...it means that lamar football is on it's way to relevance if you ask me...it's better than apathy. :D
i remember when he was 10...you didn't dare punt it to him...awesome kid. i just wish the pirates didn't have so many kids going both ways. the district games are gonna be tough.
 7.
Such anger and hostility folks... The kid is not used to the heat down here lord have mercy you don't even know the kid and yall are throwing him to the wolves... We have guys who have been here there whole life and they are passing out and not making it through practice. I just was reading the blog from a week and a half ago that Jeremy Johnson and Asim Hicks were treated for heat exhaustion its hot here takes some getting used to and Jeremy grew up here and he is still struggling with the heat. Also, whats the big deal about the enterprise doing stories on the kid its a big story for a team like Lamar to get a starter from the SEC lord have mercy you guys need to relax a little, just because there not doing a write up on your friend or brother or cousin or whatever doesn't mean you have to kill this kid he made a mistake forget about it and move on you need to be worried about the season not the fact that a KID made some mistakes in his life who are you to judge him its not like your perfect and never made mistakes....
the "not used to the heat down here" comment cracks me up...i believe it was around 106 or so a couple weeks ago in arkansas. he's been living there for a couple years. hopefully he turns his life around and helps the cardinals. if he does, he should dominate at this level. it's all up to him. i wish him the best of luck. his road to the nfl just got a little rougher and longer.
 8. i hope he turns it around, but would be surprised if he did. if he couldn't do the things he needed to do to be on prime time tv on saturdays, why would he do them now to play on a much smaller stage? his brother has enough money to keep them both happy. with that said, if he does decide to put it together, he would DOMINATE at this level.
 9. i haven't watched a ton of the games since all of the trades, but i find myself enjoying watching the team more now than before. at least it's interesting. if you're gonna lose anyway, at least make it interesting. i think what was done had to be done. hopefully the records of the minor league teams will get better and better with the infusion of youth. with that said they need to hurry up and sign springer and armstrong.
 10. saw bennett recently and from his comments, he seems pretty happy to be somewhere else.
Games more often than not are not decided always by size or speed, but teamwork/heart ;)
go pick a fight with brock lesnar and let me know how that goes. the pirates have never lacked for teamwork or heart under matthews....i will guarantee you that buddy. ;)
 12.
It's always been my philosophy when the job is not getting done, it starts with the HC, then The assistants.  I don't see Vidor's kids as being any different than the kids PN-G or Nederland has.

Vidor outlook?  Same coach, same outcome!!    ;)
Vidors all time district record is 225-469-16.....about a 34% Win Pct:.....not a very good record Mathews has been head coach at Vidor 12 yrs.? Mathews is 54-66 overall at Vidor thats about a 45% win Pct. (if my math is correct) So somebody help me out here what's the problem, is it the coach, the talent level, the offensive scheme, (I've been in Vidor long enough to know before they started runing the slot-t they ran a spread) or all the above. I know these kids and trust me they practice hard and most of them (I can't speak for every player) believe than can win every time they step on the field, as for the coaches from what I know, they believe in their players and the system they have in place. Maybe it's tradition, when a kid plays on a team that has a winning tradition he feels like he's inherited a legacy, almost like a birthright he can live up to and that benefits him. Vidor doesn't have that winning tradition, but I know a few young men who are determined to change that.

line up the top 20 kids on each team based on height and weight and let's see if you can see a difference. the offensive and defensive line size is holding vidor back right now. the kids have the heart and are well coached. coach matthews can't make them grow. if you don't see the difference, you are blind. coach does well with what he has and produces excellent young men. this, above all else, is the most important thing to remember.
 13.
ORWALL-10 JASPER-9 FINAL. NEDERLAND VS. JASPER WED. 7PM
why would nederland play jasper if jasper lost and nederland won?
 14.
OK, lets say he doesnt retire. In that case, he plays a few games, gets hurt, and misses the rest of the season (like the last couple of seasons.) What is the difference?
i know if he retires, he's not owed anything moneywise. if he plays and gets hurt, will he be owed the remaining money for this year?
 15. wow...front page of the sports section...impressive. jerry mcginnis says he doesn't recall the discussion at the beginning of the season about playing jr.s during the regular season and still being elligible for 12 yr old all-stars. he takes blame for the mess up at the affidavit meeting, and offers his resignation. i've known jerry through little league for many years. imho i believe he is telling the truth. in no way would he want this negative light shining on district 32. btw...as stated by others, including me earlier, i wouldn't have gone by his word anyway. i would have checked on it myself. there is plenty of blame to go around. if the district loses jerry, it will be worse off for it. it's hard for me to imagine that not one person from p.n. looked this up in the green book.
 16. congrats to the nederland 10's as district champs. go forward and make everyone proud. remember the games are called more and more tight the further up the ladder you go....not that y'all need any reminding this year. :D
 17.
Our kids do know the game and they also have good sportsmanship -  you all act like ur kid has never showed frustration, he didnt disrespect his father, mother or UMPIRE! nothing was said by the player to the umpire about the bad calls - all he did when he got into the dugout is put his helmet down onto the bench maybe he did it hard but whatever thats the dugout, he didnt do it on the field and he didnt do it in front of the fans - if you didnt see what happened your input is worth nothing!!!!Has anyone every thought if that happend to their kid how they would feel about it, you all are so quick to judge other peoples children get a life!!!
fyi...the dugout is a part of the field...oh and using caps or an exclamation point is RUDE!!! ;D
 18.
Tim was an assistant at Sabine Pass. Before that he was a standout pitcher at Lamar. Very fine young man and he knows his baseball.
i remember him from lamar...man there are some young up and coming coaches in this area right now...wow
 19.
just for reference this is on page 33 of the 2011 green book
i thought i remembered this was true...but....this should have came up at the affidavit meeting when everything was checked. there is a place where you list how many games were played, against who, AND in what division. the people checking p.n.'s affidavit should have noticed this. also, from what they are saying, they were told at the beginning of the year it would be fine. personally, i would have looked it up myself...i'm not the trusting type. ;D i'm assuming he is the kid that has been popping a few out during the tournament.
 20. didn't b.c. already beat p.n. earlier in the tournament by ten runs? kinda cruddy to bring the issue up now. why not go out and beat them again and everyone is happy? sounds like someone was skeered. i hope nederville puts it on 'em!!
 21.
21-3A Todd Trawhon takes over at Orangefield. Tim Erickson takes over at Hardin-Jefferson. Shea Landry takes over at West Orange Stark.
where was erickson before he came to h.j? i believe he was an assistant there last year, but where before that?
 22.
Just got word that Ned will be playing BC tomorrow night in BC. PN must have been ruled disqualified.
no way?? really...that sucks. this should have been caught at the affidavit meeting. that is why you have it...to make sure everything is on the up and up. unless port neches falsified something on the affidavit, this stinks.
 23.
I'm just wondering how it's different from a kid that let's say is 10 years old and in the league 9's and 10's play together. The kid decides to play in the 11/12 year old division, but when all-stars comes around, he is picked on the 10 year old all-star team. Senior league is considered a division of little league just like minor to major in the lower divisions. It will be interesting to see the results from Williamsport.
i think you are talking about the junior division (13-14) not seniors (15-16). the break between 12 and 13 isn't the same as 9-12. a 13 yr old CAN'T play down with the 12's in other words. i don't have a current green book to look this up, but i hope it works out for the kid. there are definitely some odd rules in the book. it's very wordy, but they are trying their best to be as fair as possible.
 24.

Bridge City will host Port Neches Tuesday night at 7.
Heard PN was disqualified from the district tournament. Anyone confirm or deny?
not true. Deal is they have a kid that is 12 years old that played up in junior senior league with 13 and 14's. He is only 12 though. BC is contesting that he is an illegal player since he didn't play in the 11/12 year old division. They are waiting on a response from Williamsport. BC contested it, and they suspended last nights game until an official ruling from Williamsport. Senior league is still part of little league. The kid is really good and played up. I think he should be able to play IMO.
most of the guys that run district 32 were originally from bcll. the district administrator's name is on the major league field in bc. with that being said, he is an excellent d.a., and would never do anything that wasn't by the book. that's probably why he sent the matter to williamsport. i believe there is a rule in the green book about playing a certain amount of games within the division you are selected an all-star in during the regular season. hopefully the kid gets to play. it looks pretty petty on the bridge city person that contested it. this should have been taken care of during the affidavit meeting.
 25.
MoFo, the KING of WISDOM ;D I need a green book, can you hook a family member up? ;D Seriously, I know you can go online and buy one, but our league didn't even provide them this year to us coaches. I'm not the all-star coach, but I would curious on some of the rules. Also, is there seperate rules for all-stars from regular league play in the book besides the normal local regular season rules?
there are additional rules for the tournament in the green book. they are the last pages of the book marked by pages t-1 thru the last t-number. these supercede any similar rules in the front of the book.
