Does HJ not have a freshman team?
HJ  only has JV and Varsity.  The JV is mostly freshman with maybe 4 or 5 of the 15 players being sophomores.
ok...i for one know that this statement is not true...i know for a fact there are more older kids on the team than that...i'll leave it at that...it's ok buddy.

 4. vidor sophs won today over westbrook sophs 6-0...won yesterday over channelview 14-5 i think....2nd win over westbrook this season...josh clayton pitched a complete game shut out with help from his defense.
 5. they did not look good against orangefield but it was freaking cold and the wind was blowing 25-35 mph the whole scrimmage. they just looked rusty. they will definitely play better than what they showed. the wind was a factor for both teams. one orangefield centerfielder took a deep fly ball off the noggin. i'll give it to him though....he stayed in the game...tough kid...sounded like the ball hit a bat.
 6. glad he's doing good...best of luck to him...he's a competitor.
 7.
I do believe everyone is dumb to count any of the teams out and say OH this team has a lock because of this and that. LCM and NED do not have locks. Anything can happen in high school baseball!!!
anything??...gotcha...i'm sorry for my stupidity or dumbness oh wise one.
So, SFA, Alcorn St., Prairie View, Texas St., and the likes are better options than Lamar?
yes...although you mentioned the least desirable schools to try to make your point...each of the schools mentioned ARE better options for specific students...i won't go into detail, but each have something that lamar doesn't, that certain kids want. plus, some kids just want to move away. i think the kids he got from this area are typical of the kids lamar will continue to attract.

 10. nederland and lcm are pretty much locks. the third and fourth spots will be between png, livingston, and vidor. if livingston's pitchers hold up all year, they have the best shot of the three.
 11.

PNG Freshman team had there cut today, several good players were cut that are passing, but were told they were to short. Since when did your size matter in Baseball. Also there are 8 players that made the team that are failing at this time. Im not sure how "no pass no play reads but you can bet when i talk to the UIL they will be able to clear it up. There are some that couldnt play basketball due to grades and now here we are in baseball season. I hope the PNG coaches start a player that is failing, we will love to see that. Freshman that will be on Varsity, **deleted** **Mod edit**  This is not the place to post heresay about specific kids grades.  Please remember you are talking about 14-18 year old kids here.  Consider this your 1st warning
Getting cut as a freshmen might turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Mine was cut as a freshman, (southpaw pitcher no-less). Rained the week of tryouts and coaches didn't even see him throw. Went home and taped that days' date on his bedroom door and hasn't quit working his tail off since. Senior in college, weekend starter, has paid for about 85% of his college education, and if healthy, will be drafted June 4th. Playing with a chip on your shoulder and out to prove folks wrong, can sometimes really elevate your game. Just my "glass half-full" story.  ;)
getting cut as a freshman is not a death sentence. at least he can play babe ruth ball and work on his game like stated here. if you don't make it as a sophmore, you're pretty much at the end of the line. if you're borderline making the team as a freshman on the sophmore team you're probably not going to get much playing time anyway. i would use this as a learning tool. high school is sometimes the first time a kid has ever had to deal with getting cut. even in select if you don't make a team, you just move on to the next. i'm probably showing my age, but when i was a kid, little league tryouts were just that....tryouts...not everyone made a team. kids today sometimes EXPECT things to be given to them. this could be...as i stated before...a great learning experience...and as eagle stated...great motivation.
 12. awesome news...i think coach was trying to get the word out and obviously it worked...great news...coach green does a great job...we need to keep him happy...coach matthews is awesome too...worth every penny...he's really about the kids regardless of their ability...i'll relay the info...2 weeks until tryouts...great time of year.
 13.
There will be 3 teams
that's not what coach green told the kids last week.
 14. i have confirmation on this now...gotta feeling coach green isn't happy about this...the one thing coaches hate the most from a school is lack of support...tough times i guess.
 15. i'm hearing that vidor will only carry a varsity and jv team this year. they won't have a sophmore team. i heard they weren't allowed to hire a new coach for one that left and don't have the personnel to cover 3 teams. i know on the high school website that there is a schedule posted for the sophmore team. it seems like that would really make some area coaches mad to cancel so many games. anyone know anything about this?
 16. the dumb thing is she didn't even help with their eligibilty...she gave 'em all double d's....lol
 17. the team is gonna have to step up so dj hasn't played his last high school game...yeah i said it...dj.
Don't join USMC if this mickey mouse speech bothers you  ;)
your comment brought back a great memory from my first day of infantry basic training at fort benning. after a couple of hours of nice language and exercise until everyone puked, the "nice" drill seargents asked if anyone had changed their mind. if you had, all you needed to do was take out a quarter and line up in front of everyone and they'd let you use the phone to call your parents to come pick you up...lol. there was actually a few that did. talk about funny stuff.
 19. can't believe madre didn't turn out to be a dominant back in the nfl. knee injuries take down some of the best.

Vidor gave us fits with their secondary but their run defense was nothing to write home about. Just my gut but I doubt Bollinger plays. If he does, I highly doubt he'll be 100%. Lumberton - 21 Vidor - 17
Tell em GoDogs27 , L-train will dominate this game . Vidor has not seen a win-T offense before so they will not be prepared . You're playing a real team now Vidor not TAPPS - 3-A  :D .  :-* The Raiders will take this by  a pretty convincing margin . Our caoches are better than Mathews &  Company  ::) L-train  49 Vidor      17
i am assuming you meant wing-t offense....you are so right on there...NOBODY in our district runs it. you seem to be very astute in your local high school football. :o

They might see 4-6 this year , which would be an outstanding year for Vidor fooseball
I am pretty sure that next ones coming from tonight... who cares if we lose every game after... i would like to see this guy get humbled.....haha
I am willing to wager my existence on this board that Big Ned wins tonight . Seriously , if we get beat by Veedor of all teams ( not gonna happen ) I will recite the Vidor school song then disappear from this board completely .
I'm gonna hold you to that buddy. Be ready. I'll pm you the real lyrics after we win.
Keep dreaming buddy .That dreams gonna die right alongside your winning streak :) :D ;D  :P
hey p-rat,i10, etc...if you hurry up and get to the stadium, maybe they'll let you carry the water bottles just like when you were in school.

 25.
Has anyone had experience with the Demarini Voodoo or Marucci Cat 5 bbcor bats. They had good reviews on Baseball Express.
a friends kid has the marucci and he loves it. it is a more balanced bat than the voodoo. the voodoo is more end-weighted. i'm not sure about the voodoo's this year, but i know some kids had problems with last years model bbcor bat going "dead" after a while. they may have fixed that tho. i'm trying to decide between the marucci and the rip-it prototype. both are one piece all aluminum bats with supposedly some weight in the grip to reduce vibration. of course, the voodoo is two piece.
