I'll say it again, ridiculous this was a first round game.  Should have been on opposite sides of the bracket.  Who knows what would happen when the team traveling 300 miles gets their footing.  Regardless, way to fight to the end Tigers - you made us all proud as usual!!

Kalon Barnes is probably 6'1", possibly 6'2".  If he is 6'3" and timed at 4.39 in the 40, there would be recruit helicopters (like at Tx A&M) landing in Silsbee on a daily basis.

Jones is very athletic it gets better when he gets his legs back! He's coming straight out of football taking a big hit in the game against Carthage that bruised his tailbone! I told people he was the PG at Legacy and can handle the ball well, he will be the miss match every game for Silsbee!

    # 4 Charles Smith saw an opening down the middle of the paint and drove in and threw down a spectacular one hand flush.  The gym erupted!  Kudos to the Silsbee players for being able to compose themselves and bring home a win after that play.
WC made another special play at the end of the first half when someone threw in a 60 feet prayer shot at the buzzer, nothing but net.

Let me say this, #10 and #4 for Westbury could flat out ball. #4 had a big dunk to tie the game up but Silsbee seems to be shooting better from the free throw line. Also, I don't like the fact that a Silsbee player ran up and put his hand in the face of a Westbury player after the game. Very poor sportsmanship on our part.

In SA who is going to put more people in the stands a SA school or Silsbee? That's simple a much as we love our Tigers not many are going to travel that distance.  Heck we had the top ranked team in the state last year and we didn't get that many in the stands until the HJ game.  Yes for all practicality the best team should win a tourney no matter what order they have to play and a team like these Tigers isn't going to shy away.  But you look at some of these tourneys hosted by a single school and you see if there aren't several of those home teams with an easier path.  It may be getting a little harder to do with these pool play tourneys.

Ok that makes sense. And yes tonight that second group did give up ground.  We were much better in the second half with the "normal" type substitutions.  I think we can still have fresh legs either style.  One big difference in those first two groups tonight(not getting into individual talent) was length.  That first 5 was I believe as tall no lengthy as we can get.  Add having Devon out there playing like he did tonight and it makes a big difference.  Now the thing that will happen if he keeps those groups like that is once that second group gets out there, there is more speed overall and maybe the two best on ball defenders in Newton and C. Tyler on the court.  So the pressure should pick up even more.  I am not going to argue with either way Coach rotates players.  And I am not sure which I personally would prefer.  I did kind of like how he used the 5 for 5 approach in the first half and the switched in the second.  That second group tonight also had a couple of players playing their first varsity game.

Me either.  I've said several times it no easy task managing that kind of depth and Sigler does as well doing it as I have seen.  He does mix it up while doing it (like tonight) and doesn't necessarily play even minutes (which i also like).
By the way, to clarify, the discussion I missed about GLV wasn't that they had too many good players.  Apparently someone was saying they have too many kids who need the ball in their hands to be effective.  Having watched their second game against VP I can see what they were talking about.  And that's not an uncommon problem at all levels.  Which brings me back to Silsbee and maybe their most impressive trait as a team - everyone seems to know and accept their role.  And again, to me, that's no small credit to their coaching...

I've met the coach at Houston BT Washington. but his name escapes me.  He comes to the office from time to time.  Anyway, he told me to watch out for # 2, Vanderbilt.  He says Jared Vanderbilt is the # 1 player in the nation.  I don't know if that was hype or not, but JV did make some impressive plays.
I should of stayed & got my $10.00 dollars worth, and watched the Atascocita game, and later Yates.  I plan to see Silsbee  play Westbury Christian at St Thomas Saturday.  That should be a good game.

Ok, just had a Fort Bend guy tell me there was no question about it.  Silsbee by far the best team he's seen today. Making sure it wasn't maroon colored glasses I was wearing.

I mentioned that I am from Houston, because I drove back to visit Silsbee via the beltway, near CE King.  Maybe that was confusing.
I have lived in Houston for longer than I care to say.  I've been kicking it in Houston since before I was born.  It is like a 2nd home.  Like the old War jam  City, Country, City.  Silsbee, Houston, Silsbee.  It has been like that most of my life.  Only the City has been winning a lot lately,  I seldom visit Silsbee these days.

Silsbee beat some large school by double digits in that tournament last year, in the first game.  Some of the large schools did the same to the Tigers, afterwards, same tournament.  My theory is that first Silsbee victory didn't go un noticed.  All those schools know & play one another all the time.  Silsbee is still an outsider, to a certain extent an interloper.   That's why they are paired with SA Wagner in the first game.

I wish I could see that Houston Christian v Silsbee game, but if it is at 2:30pm on the Wednesday before thanksgiving..you can forget that.  Ain't no sense in even trying to get off.   I work at a dps driver license office aka dmv.  Everybody & their moma (literally) will be in there getting their permits & lost IDs before thanksgiving.
Maybe I can catch Atascosita v Travis game at 7pm.  That should be a good one.

Unrelated, the new Delmar field house is getting closer to being finish.  I'm thinking it should be ready by November.  Once finished it should be one of the premier basketball venues in the region.

24 years as a cop working almost entirely patrol, and all but 3 years in a predominately black neighborhood.  I've never shot anyone. Pulled it up on the computers, and made over a 1,000 arrests alone, and unknown how many while training.  12 years now as a supervisor, and am I the exception to the rule, or the norm?  I'll give you a little hint with a big blue paw-print on it....I am your normal everyday white police officer just doing my job to the best of my ability.
BLM (Black Lives Matter)....they dang sure better or else I've wasted 24 years of my life.  This doesn't fit the narrative though set forth by the media and BLM leadership so go ahead and believe what you want.  The overall vast majority of police are tired, beat-down and mentally exhausted.
Does our country have issues, yes.  Does this hatred and racial divide accomplish anything, No!  Where are our leaders that work on bringing people together?  This is not a "police" problem.  We can sit behind keyboards and complain, point fingers and talk about how each "side" is wrong. Or we can get to work.  Our country is just that OUR country.  I served in Desert Storm/Shield, and have served along all colors, several different nationalities and ideologies.  Guess what, we worked together.  We got things accomplished.
If WE do not stop this divisiveness, we will get to a point where we won't have OUR country.  The wolf is always at the doorstep, and will gladly come in licking his chops to devour.  Humble ourselves to God, bow on our knees and pray for OUR country and leaders.  I am so sick of all this racial hatred and venom spewing.
