I don't know how WOS only won ten games last year.  Offensive player of the year, two 6'7 bigs, athletes everywhere, and a college commit (Jack's nephew wink wink) should get no worse than second in a weak district.  The only time I saw them "dominate" in the summer they lost to Orangefield and the summer coach was trying to fight people.  Is it time to shift allegiance to HJ maybe?  I do think Chris Castille will right the ship and have them in the top two.

My Stangs rarely have a sexy record.  When 2-4 starters come from your football team every year it takes a second considering football over here is usually playing into December.  I think Coach Castille is doing a good job so far but Wilson did have them boys going in the right direction, remember he was only there 1 year.  Also he got more kids in the gym than Barstow who tried to kill basketball program over here.  As for HJ I wish Wilson the best of luck but I'm going to be rooting for my Stangs win or lose no matter whos coaching.

  2. @Cardinal 1 I feel my Mustangs will have a good team hopefully building off last year. Curious to see what our new coach is going to do with these boys.  As far as LCM I thought last year was the most talent I've seen there in a long while and they missed the playoffs again.  I know injuries hurt them but Doucette is not an easy piece to replace.  Don't know much about HJ but it seems like there always winning 20 or more games.  I really feel with Warlow 6'3 Guard, Pappillion 6'7 Big that looked dominate in summer league, Darren Anderson and the twins we're going to be salty.  Also our JV was solid last year and it started 4 freshman cooper, robinson, holifield and Brown.  I like my Stangs to make some noise because most of these boys are in the gym right now.

Also our Coach Castillo has a ring and with that experience that may put these boys over the top

Lol that’s what it looks like, Sig should be top 4, I would take DJ and Williams out. Jeffcoat and Mitchell better than those 2 coaches in my opinion. Joubert is top 10 also, dude does have a ring.

As most know I am a Big Wilson fan but he did make me made by stepping down to be an assistant from my beloved Mustangs.  He's too new to Coaching to be a top 10 but I would list as an up and coming coach to watch.  Two years as a head coach and two trips to the playoffs.  Already has playoff wins but more importantly what he does for the kids are unmatched.

Jeffcoat is another Orange County guy that seems to start every season will but fall off.  My Mustangs with Wilson at the helm and my nephew on the court beat the Bears twice this past season.  Great Coaches are going to make adjustments and I don't see Jeffcoat ever making adjustments.  I also think it's hard to rank guys on the top 10 until their a head coach for at least 15 years or more.  So the safe rankings 1. Boutte, 2. Green, 3. Sutherland 4. Sigler 5. Davis they all have the body of work in our area.  The rest are rising stars would be a list for someone to start.

Yall may not like it but the poster kinda has a point about some of the schools they named here, certainly not all of them.

What's nephew say about the new coach? He got the gym open yet?

Have a few nieces and nephews @WOSdrummer99. Not going to put that on here but I’m in the gym for every tip you can count on that.

  5. For the second year in a row all the OC teams are in the same district which will be fun to watch them battle it out.  What are your predictions on how they will finish.  I have mine below as well as district finish.

    OC: 1. OF 2. WOS 3. LCM 4. Vidor 5. BC

    District 1. Silsbee 2. OF 3. WOS 4. Lumberton 5. LCM 6. Vidor 7. BC

  6. @Trufanis spot on.  We have board member that the AD doesn’t want around HIS field house or HIS field.  Its THE COMMUNITIES FIELD!!!  Both Superintendent and AD are too blame.  We not successful in other sports because we don’t allow them to be.

Go to the junior high after school and we have 100 kids always practicing to be big Mustangs one day.  That’s called a system.  WE the Community have built that not ONE MAN.  Whoever take over WOS will win at football but we should be winning at everything.  The big question is why aren’t we??  The answer needs to be solved by the two guys mentioned at the TOP.

  7. Wilson is heading to HJ to be an assistant.  Talked to some of our players who upset he’s leaving.  Still think WOS looses on this and HJ is getting a winner.

Still don’t know why Wilson left exactly because we have a good squad coming back next year.  I do know we’ve lost a lot of coaches and teachers recently at WOS and we’ve lost some young good ones.  Someone might need to figure out why they leaving.

  8. @hooohead.com Wilson ran his open gyms and there were 40 to 50 kids everyday.  He had more young men in the program than I’ve seen over here in years.

I talked to someone and they said it was because WOS wouldn’t allow him to keep the gym open and he had to do a request every time he wanted to open the gym.

It’s sad we keep running the good ones off.  We’re losing a ton of teachers over here to other schools this year.  Teachers that went to school here which hurts.

  9. I asked around and heard from a board member that Wilson has not said much.  I do know Wilson don't need money he's retired military and does really good for himself.  That's what make him special because he does it for the right reason and not money.  He will be missed over here for sure and I am sad to see him go but over here in Mustang Country its next man up.

  10. @catfever we bring back Wardlow 6’4, Pappillion 6’6, Darren Anderson, Twins, Brown, Samuel, two freshman that look promising and Drucker 6’3 sophomore.  A little more than everyone except Silsbee.  I see next year being Silsbee 1, WOS 2 and the rest fighting it out.

Now transfers and other stuff may play in but based off of what I see in the gym today for all the schools I’ve seen.

As for same old Mustangs I don’t think so.  Difference is our gyms are staying open with Wilson and I haven’t see that here EVER.  Our boys have been scary just staying in the gym during basketball season.  But now they are in the gym as much as football is in the weight room.

  11. @Benchwarmer9 don’t know ya’lls coach but I know ours and I know Wilson will have our boys ready.  We also return a lot.  Plus our JV last night beat ya’lls with mostly freshman on it.  Your coach is going to have to have them ready or you guys will get blown out.

I know you won’t have #24 to lean on and that’s why I see you guys losing first round.  Under Wilson these ain’t the same Mustangs
