Cards take the first game today with a 5-1 final. Game 2 (3 of the series) will start at 4:20.

Birds score 3 in the 8th to win 3-1. HCU transfer, Roccaforte, hit 2 run homer to add Lamar's final 2 runs.
Double header at 1:00 today.

Wow they really want to play this game. I thought they might just do a doubleheader tomorrow. Sunday has rain projected as well but I don't know what time of day.
No kidding about really wanting to play. I'm thinking they try to play 2 tomorrow as Sunday doesn't look good. Also, I assume Pacific has a flight issue as Sunday was already scheduled for a noon rather than 1:00 start. We shall see.....

Projected start time....9:30.

Time change today. Opening game vs. Pacific will start at 4:30. Rest of series may have changes as well, but not set.
I'm a liar! Lol. Moved back to 8 with a possibility of starting earlier. How much earlier...no idea.

Cards sweep. 10-3 in the finale.

Birds best Retreivers 4-0. Go for the sweep at 1:00 tomorrow. Team, thus far, looking similar to last year with an average offense an above average pitching. Still early and we will see how things go.
Tonight, Caple and Perez combine on a 4 hit shut out with 13 punch outs.

Correct they didn’t get football until 2001… Lamar left in 98 but if Lamar had stayed the course I’m sure they would have started football back up in 2001 and be a mid major program right now… it would just be interesting to have seen that’s all.
It would have been nice had that all worked out in that manner.

If only Lamar would have stayed in sunbelt in the 90s… I wonder where they would be now.
That is a great baseball conference.
When Lamar left (if I read timeliness correctly) the conference did not have football for another few years. Very interesting to see some of the schools not only in it presently, but also former members. The list includes UCF.

LU wins 7-3 over UMBC.

New deal. McNeese has secured the basketball for longer through '29. Southeastern will now host baseball for '24. Think the bid process for baseball is presently on a year by year basis.
Personally love the SELA stadium and the fans are quite supportive. Would love a return to Lamar or even HCU (if they could secure the Sugarland facility).

Cards beat SFA 11-4. Typical weekday game with 9 pitchers utilized and no more than 2 innings if work for any. Had an 11-1 lead late and emptied the bench. Host the University of Maryland Baltimore County this weekend. No, not a powerhouse program, but more baseball at home to see in person.

A&M pitchers have given up 20 runs in 12 games. 12-0
If they had played against the worst teams in D1 that would still be impressive and they of course have not.

7-1 Ags, top 7th
Crushed that pitch. Left field line is 340. Stat measurement was 327. Something AIN'T right.

I agree. A school board trustee of a public ISD should not be in favor of school vouchers.
Disagree. Tax payer in the community has a right to run for office on the school and have input on the local district regardless of that stance. If the local community disagrees, vote said individual off the local school board.

Birds win the rubber match 7-3. Nice to have baseball back.

Cards fall 3-1.

Game 2 of the 3 game set in a few. BTW, outfield wall has been upgraded. All padded with black and the upper teir now has uniform signage with white writing on a black background. Will try to move around the stadium and see if there are any other improvements.
-
Cards pull off a 4-2 win. Well pitched game by both squads.

Finally a home game. LU welcomes the UTA Mavericks. First pitch, now.

I'm a clown now too? My friends and family would take your side on that one
I'll be posting to all 5 people that follow Lamar baseball on this site as the season progresses.
The only 2 people I even remotely know associated with the program are from taking classes years ago as Lamar student with Hatten and working a few camps when I was a high school coach. The other is from having taught one of the players when he attended another university. Never have met the Golden Boy for what it's worth.

Michael Berry has spent a substantial amount of time on his radio show going after Phelan. It's been quite the show.
Covey for me.

Michael Berry has utilized quite a bit of time going after Phelan on his radio show. If any of you listen to him, you know he's gone hard on supporting voting him out of office.
Covey vote here.
