Too bad you still have to play the game and all.  

Newton's secondary is still vulnerable. A lot of our better defensive backs are our running backs and they are not in shape to go both ways so we have secondary backs in some of the positions. By the time districts starts these kids are better and some of our running backs go both ways.
Tatum has more kids and will be the favorite in this game.  But, just as last year when district starts, Newton will be ready to play. We will not see anything in the playoffs with the talent of Henderson, WO-S and Tatum. Br. City and Orangefield are much improved. If we survive without any major injuries, we will be ready for anything playoffs throw at us.
As far as winning state, you not only have to be good you have to have a little luck also. 

Well from my sources not to good on offense. They need to change it  are its going to be a long season for us. I might start changing my predictions on some games.

Shhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! We're going 0-10 this year.

For real, though... You have to assume that WOS is going to be good, just like always, but #1 considering only six returning starters is a stretch.  I'm ready for some football!

You have to admit that IF the story is true as reported, it's pretty funny.  WOS has had some mighty fine athletes move into town to stay with they auntie for a year or two before leaving for a D1 school... but now WOS is all  upset that kids are pulling out.  

I guess it's more fun when kids transfer IN for athlethic reasons that when kids transfer OUT for athletic reasons.......

that is funny. you are explaining to a WOS fan the loopholes in recruiting high school football players........... 

Obviously I don't know for certain, but he RUMOR was that young Mr. Shaw was no longer on the team, but not because of his bum ankle.  
 
Give me a break.... who really believes that WOS is excluding a kid from the rest of the team's signing ceremony because he got hurt late in the season?
 
Hypothetically speaking, if a kid quits the team halfway through the season (or gets kicked off of the team) but still gets and offer, should he get to sign along with this former teammates?  That's a different question.

It's not about what type of offense or defense a particular coach runs, it's about the culture change and mentality that they bring.  DD brought that.  Yes, the slot-T offers itself to the grind it out, hit you in the mouth mentality.  In my opinion the biggest thing DD did for HJ was change their culture and mentality of the overall program.

I wish we had a little bit of what Newton has...... A commitment to doing the hard work that leads to winning, and community support.

Newton ISD isn't a school that has mis-prioritized and ended up with sub-standard facilities.... It's a school that has accomplished a tremendous amount of success with very limited resources.

Makes you wonder how good WOS and Newton would be if they had million dollar scoreboards, huh?
