  1. Anyone who eats at McDonald's expecting to get their order correct... deserves it to be wrong. Similarly, expecting much help from any minimum wage employee might lead to disappointment. Expect it. You can always accept the fact that human error is a part of it and know that if you're seeing missed calls, it's probably happening to the other team as well. Evens out. They'll get better with experience and believe it or not, there's pretty extensive training they have to go through. Much more than McDonald's employees I'm sure.
  2. Know what post I've never seen? I've never seen someone say, "I decided to become an official and help. I've heard there's a shortage and I'm not satisfied with the product I've seen during games when it comes to officiating... So I'm going to be proactive." What I HAVE SEEN... is a seemingly endless amount of whining and complaining. I suppose it's easier to be an expert from the bleachers.
  3. Curtis Barbay won two state titles in 36 years. That's a lot of "7 year windows" that he didn't get it done. Maybe they should just leave him alone.
  4. When a high school coach has a great year in the first year they're there, they did it with someone else's kids. Players that were technically developed by the coach/coaches that were there before they took the job. Same thing could be said about college/pro. Unless... they're bringing their own players or players showed up the same year. Or... something as simple as a league/classification change literally makes all the difference in the world. That's happened so many times that it can't even be imagined. Which is another conversation. It is definitely plausible to assume that they changed the system or used the players in a different capacity... but they're still not "their" players. However.. when a coach does have significant time to actually develop players and implement a system and set of expectations... that doesn't mean that the players will have championship caliber ability. Maybe they became better and more competitive than they ever would've been otherwise. That would be masked by a less than "expected" season according to the mob/community. Everyone will always have different definitions of success. To some, it's a championship. That should always be the goal but there's a long path from playoffs, district championship, area championship, region championship.... to state championship. And assuming that 4-7 years is the "deadline" to make it happen.. the number of factors that influence that other than the right coach is immense. Stop growing, move, lose interest, classification change, fail, get a girl pregnant, opposing teams transfers (the getting of), and so many other factors that can change a season that the coach has zero control of it's not even funny. These conversations just make me shake my head. I can't emphasize this enough: There are multiple places in the state/country that could NOT have won it all with the current players they have, no matter who the coach is or how long they've been there. I really don't care who disagrees with that.
  5. Imagine responding to a post seriously... not knowing that you're being made fun of.
  6. Looks like Hardin played KV to a couple possession game. Don't discount them as a potential win either.
  7. I think 7 is all you get.. according to some. Of course, very rarely does anyone stay that long for various reasons.
  8. It seems like the rest of the state is playing for 2nd place as well.
  9. Have you seen 'Welcome to Wrexham'? It's on HULU. I actually think it's pretty good. Anyway.. I didn't know this beforehand but in this setting, soccer teams actually move up "classifications" or down depending on the previous year's season results. The premise is that this particular football (soccer) club is trying to be promoted into the next leagues up. I like it. I said that to say this.. That's soccer European Soccer. This is Texas Football. Even if Carthage is clearly dominant in their classification, it's still their classification regardless. I understand what you're saying, though.
  10. Anyone surprised by the Albany/Mart outcome.. has obviously never spent any amount of time in Albany, Texas.
  11. How much help will HF get from football? I gotta say.. this is the second fairly impressive win I've seen without the varsity football players.
  12. Franklin has some impressive kids in the backfield. A two-back offense with a lot of toss sweeps out of a slot-t look. On their clips in MaxPreps they'll send the slot guy in motion away from the play. Honestly it doesn't look overly impressive. Having said that.. having your defense in the right place and tackling those backs are two different things. Best of luck, Anahuac. They're not 11-0 for no reason.
  13. This is more than once I’ve seen someone refer to “good losses”. They weren’t good losses.. they just weren’t bad losses. There’s a difference. You just said CT loved losing early to expose weakness. Whatever the reason.. I’d argue that it’s impossible to love losing. Maybe since he viewed them as serving a purpose, they weren’t bad losses.
  14. I’ll die on the hill that WOS didn’t have a burst of success until the classifications split into divisions. Before that it had been roughly a couple decades before y’all could get out of the region. It was.. blow through SeTx then buzzsaw about round 3/4 (Carthage or whoever). At fault of nobody. Still.. being the state power like those early years of 4A D2 just weren’t sustainable maybe. Perhaps other schools have caught up talent wise. Silsbee and Jasper have a lot of talent.. again.. the losses being complained about aren’t bad losses. The school picked the coach with the blessing of CT, right? Give him some time.
  15. I’m not even from the area.. but I enjoy high school sports. Coincidentally, I have numerous friends/family in the coaching profession. That’s part of the reason I sympathize for what they deal with.. such as being attacked after 1 season for several losses that weren’t really bad beats. A majority of SeTx would’ve loved to had the season WOS is complaining about.
  16. How does that make sense? HF, Silsbee, and Jasper were all within 4 of each other. And Bellville went undefeated in their district. Albeit a bit weaker.. they’re still winning. Which is all that some care about.
  17. Again.. Silsbee, HF, Jasper, and Bellville were not bad losses.
  18. Y’all just played a #1 within 7. In district, Silsbee and HF both won their playoff games big tonight. They’re pretty good. Not sure about why Jasper lost but they have lots of talent too. Quit whining. Good season.
  19. Lumberton has best football season in school history… fans question the coaching strategy. Yep. Sounds about right.
