Silsbee in a blowout that'll humble L-train supporters.

No humility needed.  I have a ton of respect for Silsbee and I know that the results of their games against PNG and Nederland were no accident.  They are big, strong, fast and physical.  We will have our hands full and then some.  It will be a great measuring stick for us going into our bye week before starting district.  There is a LOT we don't know yet and tonight will help us learn those things.  Good luck to both teams.

A prediction is just a guess. So its silly to think someone has a different prediction than you about a football game, and somehow that bothers you? I bet you've been stuffed in quite a few lockers over your lifetime with that kind of mentality. Please stay in your safe space, where no one has a different opinion than you and all will be ok. I promise. Geez.

Smashmouth is a little too big to fit into any lockers, even way, way back then.

Ok, I'll admit I'm not always "responsible" with my predictions.  I'll try harder now that I know how important that is on this forum.

Zamean and Mason were big losses, no doubt.  But I think the Raider defense will be OK given the change in personnel from last year to this year.

I "think" our corners and safeties are better at this moment than they were at this time last year.

I don't remember Smash's other bullet but I'm certain it was profound and worth re-reading, for someone else of course.

I should point out that the guesses and predictions that I made earlier and am making now are not based on Smash's level of research, film study, and examination of mounds of empirical evidence available on 16-18 yr olds in Lumberton and/or Silsbee.

I predict that Silsbee will break a couple of long runs and we won't catch them.  They may even complete a short pass that turns into a long TD for the same reason.  I also think the Raiders will pop a few long runs resulting in TDs.  We have a few kids that can go at the RB position (fast enough to outrun Silsbee in the 100m last year).  I predict this game will be decided by which line blocks the best and more importantly, which defense tackles the best.

  3. Last year, the Raiders held up pretty good against the Tigers run attack.  The game got a little lopsided only after the Tigers started throwing jump balls over our corners.  I don't see that strategy working for the Tigers this year, but the Tigers also look better at running the ball this year.  I anticipate this being about a 2 hour game with the clock never stopping and the winner being whoever can stop the other team's running attack.  Either way, I think it will be low scoring and a close game.  Good luck to both teams and I pray both teams come out of it injury free.

  4. Evadale RB is a man-child.  QB was good also.  They had good athletes and good size. Evadale is going to make some noise against opponents in their classification.  Good luck to the Rebels.  I was worried about us playing down like that but it was really good for all these players and coaches to get this game in.  Both teams benefited from it and also took their mind off of the Imelda mess for a little while.

I wanna tell young Foster that...  When you line them up, give the hard count, if they jump, snap it and receive the free play.  They always don't snap it and look to the sidelines.  Been doing that all year...

You have to have a smart, veteran center who knows when the defender is actually in the neutral some. If the center is wrong and the ref doesn't throw the flag, it can put the coach and the offense in a real bind.

This was just not a good matchup for Lumberton. Henderson had a clear athletic advantage and Lumbertons one dimensional offense was tailor made for Hendo's D. I give y'alls coachs credit...they knew (imo) they were over matched so they tried to shorten the game by draining the play clock...they took chances by going for it on several fourth downs...they faked a punt and recovered an onside kick to start the second half. I know it was disappointing today but nothing wrong with making it a couple rounds into the playoffs. Keep working hard and next year maybe the results will be different. One more thing...95% of the Lumberton fans stayed to the very end of the game...kudos.

Lumberton players and coaches prepared the best they could and fought hard but the better team won. Henderson was bigger, faster and stronger than Lumberton.  Could we have won? Absolutely, and that's why we play the game. We fought hard, took some chances but came up short. It's very similar to this thing called LIFE.  Our soph QB did a great job all season after being thrust into being the starter early in the season. A receiver became our starting RB(and a damn good one), coaches changed the offense mid-year and everyone learned to fight their asses off to overcome challenges. Isn't that what high school athletics is supposed to be about? Teaching kids life lessons so they can grow into hard working, respectable young men & women capable of making a positive contribution to this world.  We do these young men a disservice and prevent them from becoming what they could be, when we blame coaches, the offensive scheme, the refs, the announcer and anything else we disagree with. If we want to win more games, try encouraging these boys to spend more time in the weight room, on the track/field/hills, at the meal table and spending less time playing video games, on social media, drinking soda and vaping. Let's quit looking for someone else to blame for our own shortcomings. The worst thing we can do as parents and leaders is to teach these kids to become Victims. We have enough victim mentality in this world already.

Good win Henderson. Good season Raiders. Keep working hard and getting better.

  8. I just read through this entire thread and couldn't find not one PNG fan complaining about how much Faircloth runs RJ.  Maybe I missed them somewhere in those 11 pages.  Or maybe BF knows what he's doing with that absolute beast in the backfield after all. You be the judge.   But seriously, how many carries did RJ have tonight?  Sounded like a great game between class act programs leading into the playoffs. Both teams will represent SETX well. Good luck to both teams.

What’s up Hater 23... actually we didn’t know till early this year that we would move down to 4A.

I got an idea, why don’t we fire Babin, hire you as head coach, and I’ll go ahead and buy my tickets to Dallas next year. Sound good to you?

To your point, what coach would he hire instead of Babin?  Maybe him and a couple of his youth football coach buddies?  He probably warmed the bench in high school and doesn't know  about football but it should be an improvement over our current staff, according to this moron.

Every year we have at least one hater that can't stand either the team, the town or the coach. Your wasting electricity even turning your computer on coach. Hell with only 22 coaches around you can still only manage 23rd.

I'm out of likes. Good post. Hater23 is entertaining at best.

My opinion is based off the last 19 or 20 years, not just this year. Let’s keep this conversation in context using facts and results. If you want to keep clapping your hands like the Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Jason Garrett does an have mediocre results, have at it. Do you think PNG or Nederland would be happy with a coach producing a below .500 record year after year? Let me answer that for you. NOPE!!! This is forum where people express thier opinions, complaints, etc... We will just have to agree to disagree. Keep on clapping an see if that changes anything,

Do you think if you brought coach Faircloth or Barrow to Vidor, you would have the kind of results that Nederland and PNG programs have?

the way people talked about the old 21-5a you would of thought they would of dominated this new district........

Just like everything, it goes in cycles. It wasn't too long ago district 22, or 20-4a was struggling to split 2-2 or just not be swept in round 1 by their district.  I remember Crosby putting up Tecmo bowl type numbers on PNG in the playoffs. And the PNG fans warning the Crosby fans about running their mouth too much because things would cycle back around. And 14.2, the most hated Crosby fan, giving us all the statically evidence of why that would NEVER happen. And here we are. Go figure.

You totally misinterpreted just about everything I said There’s no y’all, I am one individual. If you want to reward mediocrity go head. I don’t. I gave credit to some of the good things he’s done for the program. It’s the little things that put teams over the top. IMO the coaching staff isn’t putting the kids in a position to win. You have your opinion, I have mine.

What would you suggest they do differently?

Sweet we get Marshal or Manvel! Sounds like a first round bye, Eagles by at least 6 TD’s.

Sounds like the 2015 Crosby team Lumberton drew in round one. That Crosby team was legit. It's a shame they ran into a buzzsaw called Ridgepoint. RP was already running 6A #s and destroyed most teams in the playoffs that year or Crosby might have made a deep run.

  15. All this criticism of BF for running RJ too much. I don't know a lot but I know this: If BF doesn't rely heavily on one of the most talented studs to come through PNG, he would have For Sale signs in his yard.  As fans, we like to second guess the coaches who spend 80 hours per week watching film, gameplanning and working extremely close with ALL of these kids.  I think they have a better grasp of what will lead to success on the field than we do.
