Like I said, if it is not feasible to make the current Central campus suitable,  than I'd prefer to make Smith the new Central.  If they chose to merge Central and Ozen, then it is what it is.  Either way, next year I'll have a Senior, a Junior, a Sophomore and a Freshman...and they won't be Bruins.

Would there be enough room to grow the campus at Smith long term?  Probably need double the classrooms and build facilities for Athletics and other extra curricular activities.

For those of you not Facebook friends with me, I'll give you the short version.  Merger of Central and Ozen coming soon.  BISD has until January 3rd to submit to UIL wether the 2 schools will stay separate or merge for 2018-2019 so the UIL can start finalizing their districts for realignment that comes out in February.  With Central's 1309 and Ozen's 1151, 2460 will mean two 6A schools in Beaumont...

Wow!  That is a huge development.

Wow Central only had 1194, No way, are we sure thoes numbers are right?

It sounded like an unusually large drop to me. Especially since WB and Ozen both dropped as well. Where did those students go?

Dang... if this turns out to true BC was dealt the worst hand in history at 812.  The next closest school would be Huffman with 1075 kids.  We'd be lined up with Lumberton, Ozen, LCM, Huffman, Livingston, etc.... The next smallest competitor in our district would be 25% bigger than us.

    Cry me a river.

Well, it wasn't like Coach Babin predicted gloom and doom.  He noted that in the 3 years that he has been there, the Raiders have almost as many wins as they did in the 6 years before that.  Just because he thinks they will be the small fish doesn't mean he believes they will be easy prey.

Oh I know. I don't doubt our coaches at all. The coaching staff we have is rock solid.

That wont be good for the program.

It won't be any different than what the program is already used to.  Currently, we are the 5th smallest 5A in the state.  it doesn't do any good to belly-ache about it.  If it happens again, we just deal with it.  There are plenty of great lessons to be taught with always being the smallest and constantly being an underdog.  But will it hurt in the Win/Loss column?  Sure it will, but oh well.  Gotta play the hand that we're dealt no matter how crappy it is.   Life is going to deal you some pretty crappy hands at times, so teach the kids to learn to deal with it.

If I'm not mistaken I saw 1121 for Lumberton.

I'm not sure about the exact number but it sounds like you are pretty close. From what I'm hearing, it would be hard to see us not moving to 4A. It would take UIL doing something really stupid and that should never happen. :-)

it's not about him "beating out" an upperclassmen lol smh...it's about the boosters  and just being real, one of the reasons when strong came on before the season started frowned...ijs...now you got a truth, justice and the American way qb that's producing and the people that write checks like him, boy wonder, you can play wr. he's not a Vince Young if that's what you are thinking lol. Vince had credible hardware and played like a 5 star recruit. if we are still here 3 years from now...i'll look like a genius lol

UT freshman QB keeps throwing unforced INTs like he did in OT today, those boosters will start to get restless. ;-)
