I think it will be a good game. Haven't seen Lumberton this year, but I know they will be well coached with good shooters. Kingwood Park is well coached and has a tall girl ( Allie Beach #12 ) that can get to the basket. They are a very good defensive team.

I don't see anyone on KPark's roster named Allie Beach wearing #12.  Could it be Allie Byrd?

  2. Not everybody was happy with the performance.

Los Osos coach Dave Smith called it "a joke,"  Smith said Chino Hills players fouled on purpose to prevent his team from running out the clock and stopping Ball from scoring more.

"That's wrong," Smith said. "It goes against everything CIF [California Interscholastic Federation] stands for. The Ball boys are very talented and great players, but it's embarrassing to high school athletics. I've been coaching for 35 years, and we've turned high school athletics into individualism.

"It's amazing to watch a kid score that many points. But it's tough to say that's what CIF athletics is about."

Pretty sure no one made a comparison to getting the same coverage as football. The comment is about how little girls sports are covered.

I'll give you one last example. I believe it is KFDM that has local coaches and some of his/her players come in and do an interview on Sunday nights (I believe it's Sunday). How often have you seen a girls sports coach and athletes brought in? It doesn't bother me, I don't have anyone playing anymore but I do agree with the original post that girls sports aren't covered very well.

I can't answer your question. I don't watch the news. It's too depressing.

JustUS is only speaking the truth. Girl sports don't get covered as much, it's the way it is. How often do you see volleyball scores reported from news stations on Friday nights? Only what is called in. What about Tuesday nights? Very few are covered in person, most scores are called in. I always see a lot more baseball highlights/interviews than softball. Never see much of anything on cross country or track. Not complaining, just the truth. There are teams that win district year after year in volleyball, cross country, soccer, tennis, golf, and track and you never hear much about it, if any. The truth is, more has been covered on the news and this website about the fight between LCM and Silsbee basketball than all the sports I previously mentioned. If you took volleyball out of the mix, that fight has had more coverage than all the other sports combined.

It's not a push on our local media. It's media everywhere. You don't see many women sports covered on ESPN and you never hear about some sports unless it's the Olympics.

Ashly, if it wasn't for you interest in PNG girls soccer, how many scores would we have from their tournament year after year?

With that said, Congratulations to the Lady Panthers. Is that 10 in a row or just 10 in their history? I've only lived here for about 15 years, but didn't Ozen open around 2000?

In the local media's defense, look at the total number of posts on this website for each category mentioned. Maybe the media coverage is a reflection of what their viewers demand. If I move up north, does it make any sense for me to complain and make truthful statements about ice hockey getting more coverage than hs football?

  5. If you don't see a problem with sucker punching an unexpecting, defenseless victim, then you will say the punishment to the Silsbee player is too harsh.  The same people that think this punishment is too harsh usually are not repulsed by head-stomping an unconscious person at the end of a fight.  I love a good fight as much as anyone, believe me.  But what is considered acceptable has changed dramatically, especially with the younger generations.  This punishment seems appropriate to me and I am one who has punched and been punched many times in my life.  If you've known "bad" people, then it is easy to tell that Devon is NOT a bad kid.  I hope he learns from this and does nothing but great things from here on out.  A lot of that will depend on those closest to him right now and in the future.

Dove can't go to Memorial home games Nash.  The band wreaks havoc with his hearing aids...

I may be in the minority here but I like the Memorial band playing in the gym.  But then again, I'm not trying to communicate to players or fellow teammates either.  I may be one of the few opponents who love the Central band during football games also.  It's gets this old man fired up!

Especially since for about 99% of kids playing college ball this as far as they will go in football.

    Here are some interesting numbers:

This is the hidden content, please

I always love seeing those numbers. So many of us thought we were going to the league, especially if we started as freshmen at a FBS school. It just ain't that easy. Lol. Get that degree!

Doesn't seem right to me.  I know it's all in the same district but:  the guy that wins at a 6a level gets paid the same as someone that coaches a mediocre 5a team, and someone else that coaches a bad 5a team with 4a enrollment.  I would think the pay would be by experience, record and classification level.  Kids have to earn their position and playing time.  Make the coaches earn their pay.

I agree 100%.  And if I didn't know any better, I'd say you are probably a Republican
