3 were called for not coming set. I wasn’t actually watching the pitcher on any of them. However I don’t know that I’ve ever seen so many called like that. Seemed odd. If he actually wasn’t coming set, none were deceiving runners or anything like that. The other was a lefty pick off to first. I’ve seen the same move a thousand times not called a balk. They also called an OF hitter for leaning into a pitch that was overturned by field umpires. Seemed like they were antsy to make calls that didn’t need to be made, but maybe could have been. The hit by pitch call should never have been made though. However OF had lots of opportunities to win the game and it just didn’t happen. Not blaming it on umpires, just venting.
I wasn't at the game, but the 4 balks seem quite fishy to me and this is the 1st I'm hearing about the leaning into a pitch situation.

This was a really good game to watch. An absolutely horrific call at 2nd base put a stain on an otherwise great ballgame. All 6 of AS runs came after that call in the 9th. Would've still been tied at 0-0.

I’ve seen both teams. Tigers do have some girls that can play, but if you don’t have REALLY good ball handlers, can consistently beat the press, and a REALLY good 5’10’ on the ball defender, Silsbee won’t come within 30 to this team...
I agree. Great season for both teams, and I've seen them both as well. HJ is on another level compared to most if not all other 4A teams. That's no knock on the Lady Tigers, they can play. I'll take HJ by 40+

Ahhh okay. So he has lost four starters from the beginning of the year?
Yes, but the 4th with the broken bone came back last week.

I agree. I've always thought he has done a very good job. So all three sisters were starters? The girl that broke her hand came off the bench?
The girl that broke her hand was a starter from time even when the sisters were there, and after they left she started every game. She's a really good player. Yes, all 3 sisters started.

From my understanding Buna had three players move (two of them starters), and another starter break her hand. The fact they are still the three seed after losing that much is pretty impressive. According to MaxPreps they beat Silsbee and played Lumberton close when they had their entire team. Those two teams tied for the district championship
22-4A.
Most of what you said is correct. They lost 3 starters (they are all sisters and they moved out of the district), and another broke her hand. What their coach has done this season to keep it together and make the playoffs is nothing short of remarkable.

How did warren beat Buna? Warren is lacking post presence and guard play. Buna is supposed to be loaded
Warren is much better than you think, and IMO they have the district MVP in their PG. Buna isn't loaded, they're very young and have had a successful season making it to the playoffs. Buna will compete for the district title next season.

Buna wins 40-33

Lumberton has been pretty solid the last 3 years
Don't feed the troll... I'm sure he knows Lumberton has been solid the last 3 years or so. This guy is just looking for a reason to bash a kid or a program that's been on the rise. Probably because McClure torched little Johnny at some point earlier this year for 40+.

And am I to assume that Buna beat Newton? I had seen a report from that game.
Buna and Newton will play that game this Saturday, January 30th. Newton had to reschedule due to Coronavirus concerns.

Just wanted to point out the Buna is 5-3 in district, while EC is 3-5. I think the score of the EC/Buna game from last week was recorded wrong on here. The final was 56-53, Buna won in OT. I also know that Kville beat Warren earlier this week, but do not know the final score.

Buna won by two in OT.
Final was 56-53 Buna in OT. The result is posted incorrectly in the Schedule/Results thread. It shows EC won by the same score.

Google KDFM election coverage, and see how many stories pop up about a rigged election.
Got the Coogs in another tight one! Go Big RED!!!
It's tough to argue with the unaware who just spew idiocy to see who will believe them. I hope you find a way to watch the game.

Go check out the scripted propaganda that every single Sinclair News outlet repeats word for word. A simple Google search will lead you to it. Not petty, just aware!
Go Coogs!!!
You're not aware of much of anything. It's easy to realize from your posts on this page. Go read a KFDM post, they're owned by Sinclair, then come try to tell us they're "pro-Trump."

If you're mad you can;t watch the state games, complain to Sinclair. It’s that conglomerate that is super pro Trump and makes their news stations read propaganda about rigged elections. They acquired the regional sports networks when Fox merged with another huge company last year and had to sell off certain assets to get around antitrust laws. Since then they have demanded an outrageous amount from the TV providers. Never seen all of them say no before, so you know it’s not any one provider that’s holding this up.
Who's ready for 2024???
Keep repeating this lie and maybe some day someone will believe it. Good lord, the pettiness of some people these days.

Do you remember the tall red head kid from Lumberton in 93-94
The best 3 players in Lumberton Basketball history are:
1. Brock McClure (This isn't debatable at this point.)
2. Jeremy Graham (Graduated 1997)
3. Jory Fondren (Graduated 2001 I think)
In that order. I have a feeling Coach Mitchell would agree with me on the 3 players, but swap 2 and 3 since he played with Fondren.

Y`all are supposed to win tonight.
I wouldn't go that far.. However, this may be the best chance the Raiders will have to beat the Tigers in quite some time.

I’m not sure Id believe this statement. HJ had to have a little to do with it. I wish the McClure kid the best at Lamar but I’m not convinced his game translates into D1 college basketball. JMO for what it’s worth.
Fortunately for him and many others who get D1 Scholarships, the opinions of those on boards like this don't matter.

Tomorrow’s the day. HJ is next level, but our Raider Girls will give them their best competition to date. If anything, it’ll be fun to watch.
I hope you're right, but I've seen them both play. I think HJ wins this by 40+. Lumberton is a really good team, but HJ is just on another level.

I'd argue and say they are some of the best umpires in the state. In the end, they got it right. That's their job. Far too often it seems we have umpires more interested in being right than actually getting it right. I give a ton of credit to that crew for getting together and making sure the correct decision was made.
