Elementary school school shutdown for two weeks after 2nd grader test positive for covid on the first day of school  in GEORGIA. Stopping and starting is not helping Ethier. When will enough be enough that my only question now.

While I can somewhat understand your frustration, this country needs to go on with life! Everything cannot be stopped or shut down due to fear, the consequences of doing that for the short time it was done are already devastating. Businesses are closing and many good people have lost their jobs, with no other jobs to be found. Where does it end? What will people have to go back to if the country is shut down again as you suggest it should be? The fact is, that in the long run, more lives will be negatively effected and lost due to the consequences of the shut down (or an additional one) that have been effected by the virus itself. At some point a line has to be drawn.

These games were cancelled because of financial reason. The company putting on the game could not financially take the chance that there would not be attendance or sponsorship for the games, or that they might be cancelled at the last minute after numerous man hours and financial commitments had been made.

Sure. Financial reasons from the effects of COVID-19. Otherwise, this game would've 100% been played.

This is a sports sociology topic.  Yes, it is. Thus, it is political.  Like it or not, when the leading sports sociology text in America promotes Marxism on its 3rd page, all sport topics can turn political. Shut up and go elsewhere is a wonderful tool of the left.  That is exactly what is being done here in asking(or telling) me or others to take it to the political forum.

If politics and sports don't intersect now, someone please tell ESPN.

    Well said!

Maybe some folks need to get off their political highhorse and talk sports in a sports forum and speak that political bs off the site period. Site name is SETXsports right?

With all due respect, the game was cancelled due to COVID-19. The discussion was about that reasoning, and why one may think it is/isn't a good reason to cancel the game.

I dont get butt hurt over ignorance honestly. Maybe visit some of these people fighting for their lives in hospitals or better yet some of the families that have lost loved ones. I get the whole .003% is a low number UNTIL it hits a close one!  Fake news below???????

This is the hidden content, please

No one is saying its fake news. However, I am saying .003% is not enough to stop the world over. There are a lot of things that kill at a higher rate than Covid. Are we going to stop driving cars? Don't you think it's weird NO ONE caught the flu this year, or at least you didn't hear anything about it? We should all be asking questions. Those who do not are the "ignorant" ones.

You’re a silly boy... Let’s just shut everything down forever, right? My son started summer workouts yesterday morning. He’s one of the most important things in my life, and I would give my life to save his. No hesitation. You need to worry about your family and your kids and leave the parenting of my kids to me. Get your head out of the sand (and your butt) and learn the facts. Young healthy teen athletes have almost no chance of serious health issues or death from the China virus. Go spout your crap somewhere else. And leave my child out of your fear driven comments.

    Perfectly said. Thank you!

I haven't watched enough HS football to say where he should rank on this list, but I had the "pleasure" of attempting to block him in a scrimmage his senior / my junior year. He was a grown ass man and it was not a pleasant experience....lol

He's right up there with a lot of these guys. Some on here will discount him because he played at Lumberton. He was a man amongst boys. He was also a Willie Ray Smith Award winner I believe.

It happened and was approved by the UIL Executive Committee with no problem esp for 1. Yates and the transfer portal isn’t going anywhere any time soon, so SETX and the HJ Coach can get use to it or move down in classification. That’s right if you move down to 3A you will have the same issues with Dallas Madison and there transfer portal kids.

There was a rumor going around the neighborhood that Yates might become a Prep School and remain in UIL similar to the prep schools in 4A Region 2 District 10. With the recent Population growth around Yates and the school being located between 2 universities makes Yates an ideal candidate for a Prep School. The transfer portal will be in full effect if that ever happens.

I don't know what happened. I'm simply questioning the legitimacy of four outstanding basketball players transferring to one 4A school in the same year for academic reasons. Since doing so for athletic reasons would not be permitted. Is that not a valid question?

  10. I was on the fence about all of this but after reading through some of these posts, if true, Yates had FOUR Senior transfers this year. All who are major contributors to their team. They also had a fifth transfer who was denied. (I must have missed the reasoning for the denial) It seems to me all of the other accusations of recruiting against HJ and Silsbee, etc. are just that. Accusations with no real substantial evidence. I'd say four Senior transfers is more than enough for the UIL to have to look into the situation. Especially four players of that caliber. What are the chances of that actually happening?
